Sugar Cookie : GingerScraps Praise
It seems as though social media has taken away from the marvelous chatty places our forums used to be. Let's try to bring a little of it back and get to know each other more. Let's tell each other about daily life, our hopes and dreams, our little frustrations, our happiness and our sadness. Let's wrap each other in friendship and create a safe community where we can come and be supported.

If we do a layout we are particularly proud of, or is especially meaningful, we can post it here and support each other with comments and love.

Gingerscraps is like that, let's give it a try!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I'll start by sharing something really exciting that is going on in my life. I am 63 years old and have worked really hard my whole life, since I was quite a young girl. I went to University and earned an education while I was working full time and had children. This year, this week even, I was offered a chance to go on part time will reduced pay, but full benefits. I have been dancing on air. I love the company I work for - but the chance to not work as hard or has long has put me over the moon. I had suggested it to my boss some years back and he remembered.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

That is awesome, Lynnie!!

I am a SAH Mom and I homeschool our daughter, 15, so I don't get out a whole bunch! LOL

Today is Date night - and I'm getting myself ready to knock my hubbie's socks off and get all dolled up. We only have one car, so I pick him up from work and take him to a local place we both love and we have a drink and spend a few hours of just us time.

It was fun - the first time I did it his eyes just bugged out of his face and he was so happy! I picked him up from work all dressed up from hair, to makeup, to a dress, and vintage hose and pumps and said, "Hey, Mister, can I take you out for a drink??" We have been doing it every Thursday since.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I love that idea :) How romantic.

It's meant the world to the both of us and our marriage. We had a very bad rough patch of a few years, and we had lost each other...and getting that close to the edge reminded us just how much we love each other and never want to stare at that cliff again.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

My husband and I had a few rough years and a few other rough spells earlier on. They ended up doing us the world of good. I love him now more than ever. In between wanting to send him on a long vacation from time to time, haha! We have been married 38 years this year.

21 years in October for us - and we are more honeymoon now than we were on our honeymoon! The rough times fixed our marriage - that , but most importantly, Gos’s grace!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I'm a 43-yr-old SAHM myself, though my nest is down to 1 14-yr-old DD. My oldest is mostly on his own and just got engaged. My second son just left on a mission for the LDS Church. So I am feeling a little adrift these days, and hope to talk hubby into getting a cat one of these days, to keep me from getting lonely. We've been married just over 23 years, and like everyone, we've had good times and bad. I'm glad for the bad, because without t hem we wouldn't know the good. :D

That empty house feeling can be quite nice sometimes :) I miss my kids, but I do like a bit of peace and quite every now and then.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

People often ask me "Why are you always so busy? Don't you know how to say "NO!" The truth is that nobody asks me - the things I end up doing are usually my idea. I am in the middle of mailing out a million wedding invitations for my daughter's best friend. I also did her shower invitations, designed her save the date, wedding and shower invites and made her shower thank you cards. I did a ton of stuff for her shower, too. Her mother is my best friend, and I have known the daughter since she was born, but the WORK I have done. All my own idea, all my own offering, no one even hinted. What is wrong with me (although I have loved it and my daughter really worked hard on it too!)

Now I am working on the June Faire for the Daughters of the British Empire. Why I thought I could design fascinator hats, I don't know. I don't know what I was thinking.

OK - printing 1000 Peppa Pig colouring pages was my daughter's idea, but I did think it was a great idea at the time.

Someone needs to put my brain on hold...

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Well, Survivor Results are in and I WON :) I am so stoked :) And congratulations Susan for coming in second :)

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

What's everyone up to today - I am finishing some wedding invitations, going to the gym (well, maybe), making fascinator hats and going to my husband's play.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

good morning everyone! Just finished up some GS duties... now I can play with scrappy goodness!

We were on a quick vacation last weekend so I'm playing major catch up and I've been in scrapping withdrawals. Hopefully I can have some time this weekend to get my scrap on! ♥

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I'm downloading my latest GS goodies and ignoring this GREAT batch of fabric strips I saw on a quilting site. I'm a collector of all things colorful.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Getting ready for DD's 14th birthday party. Hope to get some scrapping done later!

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I miss the home of forums too, scrapjazz was my home back in the days of paper scrapping.

I spent all of this morning at the hospital being told what an anomoly my heart is and what a unique case i am, and having many people trying to figure out why I'm feeling the way I am. It was decided the treadmill stress test that was scheduled was too risky, and they are going to do a different test. It's scary, and nerve wracking.

I have a 14 yo son and a 17 yo daughter and hubby and I are at 30 years, we could use date nights.

I am thoroughly sick of the cold, the snow, winter and the wind.

I love your Project 52 layouts - do you print them up? I did for the first time - I have 206 and 2017 printed in 8x8.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Wow Lynnie, Susan, congratulations! And to other ladies, congratulations as well. I wasn't able to join this year as we went on a short duty vacation when the Survivor started. But I'm looking forward to joining next year :)

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I scrapped my first three while I was on vacation :) I think it was my good luck charm!

So many of your layouts are bright and colourful. I love them. I spent the day choosing and downloading prize goodies, I can't believe how much I got. I am so stoked. Now I have to unzip them all.

Getting ready for DD's 14th birthday party. Hope to get some scrapping done later!

I loved having birthday parties for my daughter - my sons were so unobliging when I wanted to have a THEME. They just wanted to have friends and hang. I was a huge success in later years when my youngest son wanted to have LAN parties, where all his friends brought their gaming systems and they played loud LOUD music and gamed all night. I was the only mother who would put up with it. I had to get a hotel room for hubby every year - he couldn't take it haha.

Oh, goodness. I will keep your health in my prayers. Please take care of yourself. Scrap to relieve the stress. Big hug.

I love them too. I wish I were consistent enough to get them all done.

I got all the wedding invitations printed, stuffed, stamped and in the mail today. That was a LOT of work. I am so glad it is done. I feel as though a weight is off my shoulders. I messed with the fascinators today - not much luck. I need to work something out before I have to teach people to do it next weekend hahaha. I got some paperwork done that has been hanging over my head. Some cleaning and then I chose and downloaded all the stuff from my prizes for Survivor. I can't believe how much I got. I still have to unzip them. I feel like the most fortunate person in the world.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I’m a proud Canadian, 46 years old, married to the most incredible man who serves as an engineering officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. I’m very proud of him. We sadly have no children (I have severe endometriosis that has rendered me infertile), but we do have four very demanding Sphynx cats.

I work as a registered dietitian and have a master’s degree in public health. I had been away from GingerScraps for a while because I suffered a serious concussion back at the beginning of October when I was rear-ended by a truck driver who was charged with careless driving. I had to stay off the computer for a long time. I was off work for two months, then I started back slowly. I had to “save” all my computer time for work, as we gradually increased my hours. In March, I was finally able to start spending some “fun” time on the computer again. I’m currently working 0.8 FTE and hope to be back to full time in June.

I’m a distance runner as well, and sadly haven’t been able to run either, due to the concussion. But just this week my physiotherapist gave me permission to try short, slow “jogs” during my walks, so it’s a start back.

My dream is to become a GingerBread Girl! GingerScraps is the only store where I shop now, and as a Sugar Cookie, I love making comments in the gallery. One day I hope I’m invited to join the site CT and finally make it as a GingerBread Girl. It would be so nice to have that happen, especially after all the trauma of the concussion and not being able to do my favourite hobbies for so long.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Well, Caylynn, you are certainly talented enough! Here's hoping that one day, you become a Gingerbread Girl.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Just thought I would drop in. I hope all health issues clear up and you can enjoy life. I am 68 years old and have been married 47 years. I have 7 children and 30 grandchildren. They keep us young and busy. I was here part time until Scraps N Piece quit and came over full time. When I first started, it was to make books for my grandchildren but it was too much because I was doing more than 20 pages for each during the year. I finally did their last book and only did 10-12 pages per child. I then started doing a scrapbook journal. At first it was a 1-3 days on a page and I finally went to only one page a day. The last year and a half I do a photo a day group and generally put those photos on my pages. Sometimes I just pick a random photo I have done. I love scrapping but find with the family and summer activities I have less time to scrap so when I get days I might get many layouts done. I enjoy all the layouts I see and want to say congrats to the winners of Survivor.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Congrats to the survivor winners! It was a fun contest and I felt honored just to be in the final group.

I'm a full time mom, student, and employee - I have a 15 1/2 yr old son and have been married for 20 years (21 years in August). We live in Wisconsin, and after the 13 inches of snow we received in the last week, am so ready for spring to finally arrive!! I work at one of our local hospitals in the Quality Services department doing chart abstraction and am enrolled in an online university to complete my Bachelors degree (the subject of my final Survivor page). Last year had 3 surgeries, the final one being a partial knee replacement, which I'm still recovering from so scrapping is definitely my escape and with the help of my small little two-in-one tablet/laptop something I can do while sitting in my recliner with my knee elevated and covered in ice packs. I'm thankful for a scholarship which allowed me to buy this laptop because it is small enough to just fit on one leg-my regular one sat on my whole lap and I had a hard time using it because of the pain it caused my bad knee.

I just finished a paper for one of my classes, so plan to "celebrate" by doing a scrapbook page. I am working hard on finishing my Disney album (trip was in 2016) before our cruise this summer.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

Katherine, if I don't express my admiration enough on your layouts - your journaling is amazing. I can't even imagine the dedication it takes to do what you do.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I feel as though I have been downloading and organizing kits for days. I need to start scrapping... but I have a funeral to go to first, unfortunately. Then tonight, my husband's play. He is in "Blithe Spirit" and for those of you who noticed me saying I went last night - Yes, I am going again tonight. I go every night he is in a play. He books seats in different locations every night and reminds me to take my camera. I did an album for him for Christmas of a lot of his plays. I did not finish it because of my accident, but I am going to finish it by Father's day. He is so much fun to watch.

I have a funeral today for a friend from High School. We were not incredibly close, but I have been trying to support her throughout her illness with little cards etc. Quite a few of our class are showing up. She was too ill to make the 45th reunion, but we all called her from there - a group call. All the people she was close to in our class got to say high and chat for a while. She was really featured in our class video that I created also. So many of my classmates are gone - too many. I am meeting another friend and we are carpooling.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

I am so with you in the tired of the cold department! We actually had below 0 windchill temps yesterday, in April! Ugh!

I just wanted you to know that while it's not exactly a scraplift, you were my inspiration for my last Survivor layout :) and I really love how it turned out . I expect to be using •yours again as I still have a "couple" more photos to scrap. :)

While you and your daughter face these intense health issues, you handle your health issues with such grace and strength, I find that so inspiring, your positivity and living every day to the max. I'll keep you in my prayers.

im honoured and touched. Thank you for letting me know. It means a lot to me. Shortly after my cardiac arrests my doctor told me to get a hobby. That it would help my brain recover, that it would ease my anxiety, andvit would help fill my time. I already had a hobby, but my hands shook too much to scrap physically, it was too frustrating. I switched to the pl app, and eventually found Gingerscraps. It's my therapy, my escape, and a huge coping mechanism.

I often think that if i had died permanently, which would my kids rather have, something about me recorded, or each day of their own lives documented. If that makes sense.

Re: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - Let's get to know each other more!

It makes total sense Sherrie, and i to know how helpful a creative outlet can be. For me, it's been dealing with major chronic back pain for the last 15 years. Quilting and scrapping help push it out for awhile. You could wallow and you don't, you show your kids that life isn't always fair, but you try your best and make the best of the hand your dealt
