Wow, Lynnie, I couldn't imagine packing all that into one weekend! Makes me look like a lazy slob, LOL! Thursday, Friday and Saturday I mostly read, cross-stitched, scrapped, and watched a little TV. Saturday I did go shopping by myself, which isn't usually fun and the store was incredibly crowded. But I survived! Yesterday I went to church, and not long after I got home, DD and DH got home from the big band competition. The band did awesome- they advanced to finals (12 bands out of 108) and got 12th place- in the whole country! It's exciting to see them succeed. After that, we went to choir practice again and sang some lovely Christmas music. That's my weekend!![]()
Lynnie you are amazing! You're so busy all the time yet you still have time to apply and get into a selective writing class! How exciting...what is your book about?
I haven't checked in for a bit... I'm not particularly fond of Nov or Dec. Family crap always puts a damper on this time of year. I have a couple hard to deal with siblings that make holidays hard. I tend to want to crawl into a hole about Oct 15th and come out sometimes in January when the bills are paid.Anyone else feel this way?
I started teaching school a year ago at the ripe old age of 44 so this past year has been a crazy headache. I have simplified a lot this year and am finally feeling a lot more productive and I am doing better at balancing my home/work life this year. The first few months are just naturally crazy but I am not spending all my free time doing school stuff. Time to get back to scrapping! Because of the new job, this year has totally flown by. I literally cannot believe it is November. This month is half over and we are almost to Christmas YIKES! We aren't really celebrating Christmas this year because we are going on a cruise in 29 days...also YIKES! Where has the year gone?
We are having a snow day! It was supposed to snow more than it did, but the preemptively cancelled school anyway. And DH is home too, hooray! They are driving me a little crazy since I couldn't do my regular routine. Now we are going out to shovel the stuff, sigh. Why can't we just let it melt, LOL!
Hi Ladies... I won't be on much this week... You all have a blessed Thanksgiving, stay safe, and keep warm and dry... having a lot of family in for the week, can't wait to see them all...
Heidi, I'm very blessed to have a wonderful family. I have a daughter-in-law that likes drama, especially around the holidays, but when she gets out of hand my oldest daughter tends to reign her in. My mom has advanced Dementia and she is hard to deal with at times, but we have a soft spot for her and the patience to deal with her, so that's never really an issue. I love it when family shows up at my house. The more, the better! This year will be small. My oldest son and his family are in Michigan and not planning on coming home. my youngest daughter is a missionary in Haiti and this will be the first year that she won't be home for Christmas. But, I will have two of my kids and three grand babies, so I look forward to it. Small or not. I hope things will be better for you this year!
I’m in the hospital, climbing the walls with anxiety.
I was supposed to get my ICD device changed for a new battery on Friday as a day surgery. But the surgeon didn’t have time to get to me. I was bumped till Monday but admitted for monitoring, as my current ICD has an alert on it, and might not work if needed. All the bad memories of six years ago are flooding back.
Its rained and frozen making the roads dangerous.
Sherri, I hope (and will truly pray, hands folded, eyes closed, to God) that all goes well today. Blessings on the surgeon and the surgical staff, too. Let us know.
I have so much new stuff going on, I don't even know where to begin.
My life is, as always, really busy. Last week, I finished up the video for a wedding I was working on and started making champagne glasses for another wedding. I love doing this kind of thing, but I also cleared my calendar a bunch for a new endeavour in my life. For years - since Chris's death in 1996 - I have had a book churning around in my heart. From time to time, I have made an effort to write it and it has come a long way. I often thought I might get it published, but never really found the work involved in doing that in the least bit attractive. Last week, though, I signed up for a program that walks you through finishing, editing and publishing a book. I am really excited about finally beginning on a journey I was never sure I would make.
ON a side note, my niece took me to Universal Studios in Hollywood to see the Harry Potter attraction all decorated for Christmas. We had a great day - every minute of it. We were heading home, only to find the freeway was shut down due to an officer involved shooting. So we cheerfully got off the freeway and followed surface streets to take us back to the freeway at a spot where we could join again. As we sat patiently in street traffic, stopped, I might add, someone tried to change into my lane and sideswiped my car and rear-ended another one. We followed her to a parking lot where we all exchanged information. The other guy she hit thought she had just taken off. He was glad she had not.
At the end of the day - I had a wonderful time at Hogwarts, no one was hurt in the accident, the car was drive-able. There are lots worse things that could have happened.
Today would have been my son David's 44th birthday. We miss him, but we have great faith, so the missing is not as bad as it could be.
Life is good - no matter what blips happen along the way, I have to remember how grateful I am for all my blessings.
thank you, we needed all w3 could get, still can, it’s been a very trying year, some great highs but some big stress too.
update: I got my new S-ICD yesterday, it comes with upgrades and improvements. It will have remote monitoring. It is MRI compatible. And it is slightly smaller than my previous one. It was repositioned slightly which is supposed to decrease the nerve pain I was in. I was released last night. Had a very painful couple hour car ride home, but loved being home, in my own bed. So glad it’s done for another 6 years or so.
So glad you werent hurt, I’m glad hogwarts was great, I’d love to see it.
I too have a book in me, but don’t know how to get it out. You go girl!!!!!
I am so glad you are home safe! All good for another six years - that is great, but don't you wish they could fix it for a lifetimeMaybe by the next replacement.
I have a good friend who had to have a rib removed - the one right next to his left clavicle. I guess they have to remove a bunch of muscle and tendons as well and he is in so much pain still. He says that is, surprisingly, mostly back pain due to the muscles and tendons that were removed. I feel so terrible for him. I remember being totally whiney and miserable when I injured some tendons in my shoulder - I doubt I would be a good patient for a major illness or injury. I would not cease whining.
Sending DD off on a band trip to Hollywood tomorrow, so it will be just me and DH preparing and eating dinner. She has requested leftovers, but we've made no promises, LOL!
My youngest DD lives in Haiti as a missionary. She's 25. This will be her first Thanksgiving and Christmas away from home. She's really bumming. She told me tonight that she's just going to pretend that tomorrow is an ordinary Thursday. I think it's awesome that she's doing what she's doing, but I sure do miss her, especially during the holidays. She has always been the one kid I could always count on to be here. I sure do miss her.
You all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Ane, I'm not saving any leftovers either![]()
Well, by default we ended up with leftovers still in the fridge, and she comes home later today. I'm pretty much expecting her to eat and crash since she has been up so late the last few days.
How was everyone's weekends? Pretty quiet here w/o DD around. We did get our outdoor lights up and our tree, plus our yard raked. Though it looked like we didn't rake thanks to the wind we've had the past couple of days.
We gave half of what we had away and we still ended up with tons of leftovers! Oh well, they always taste better the next day, and the next....
Hubby got the leaves taken care of yesterday and then it snowed three inches last night. The snow is so beautiful but, dang it's cold!
No decorations up yet. I'm going to have my DD help me with that. She was going to come over today, but didn't want to get the baby out in the cold. I don't blame her, I don't want to get out either.
