Thread: Everyday Chatting and Waffling - NOVEMBER Let's get to know each other more!

Sugar Cookie : GingerScraps Praise
What do you have planned for November? My plans include:

  • Seeing Micky Dolenz (of the Monkees) in a small private concert.
  • A Diwali lunch at work
  • Crafting for a baby shower
  • Meetings of my paper scrapbooking club (the Village Memory Makers)
  • Sewing for charity
  • Thanksgiving

A slightly quieter month than most months have been for me, and I am really looking forward to it.

how totally cool...the monkees!!

I'm hoping Nov will be a slower month. Oct was absolutely crazy with our office moving (this is when I'm usually scrapping! lol)
There were also a bunch of immediate family birthdays and anniversary celebrations in Oct..
I also had to make all the stuff for Joey's Halloween trunk or treat and his costume! lol... phew... I'm still tired, haha!

But for Nov... let's see...

Jordan's birthday next week, Basketball games starting up, and Thanksgiving. At least we will have a couple days off this month!

I start my new temp job on Monday, so it is going to be a busy month. I haven't worked since before I had kids (2005), so I'm not looking forward to the early starts and rush at the end of the day to get dinner done. I know, first world problems, but it is a big change for me and I feel bad for my kids that I won't be there to pick them up from school for the first time in their lives. They're used to me being there and making a nice dinner each night...

I'm also scheduled to sit for my second credentialing exam a week from Saturday, but I'm contemplating delaying it. I think I will study a bit on the weekend and see how prepared I feel before I make that decision.

That's a lot - you still got a crazy ton of scrapping done!

That will be a big adjustment - for you and the kids.

I am looking forward to retiring. It is 1 year 11 months 3 weeks until I can retire on Social Security. I am not really planning on collecting SS until I am 70 because you get so much more if you wait, but I need to find a job that is loads of fun for me. I am burned out of work that makes me think :)

oh man! I would not like to look forward to that! I work part-time and my job is super, very flexible! I love them. But I know with college expenses adding up, I need to get a real full time job at one point. I love having the ability to pick up, go on field trips, watch their games and events. **sigh**....

Good luck and super big {{HUGS}} ♥

Good news, on my front, my daughter's make a wish, which was delayed in October, should be a go ahead later this week. we are so excited.

November also holds my surgery for my ICD replacement on the 16th.

the 19th is my sisters first birthday since she passed. I am still dealing with autopsy reports, causes of death and trying to figure everthing out

Winter should hit this month, and I haven't found my son a winter coat he will wear yet.

I don't have a busy month planned either. Most of it is band-related though, LOL! There's the craft fair this weekend, and it is huge- I love looking and buying. Some people stock up for Christmas. I hope to find a few presents as well. The next weekend is a huge band competition called Grand Nationals. They will be gone for 3 1/2 days, whew! Then on Thanksgiving, they leave for California to do the Hollywood Christmas Parade. Fancy! Since DD will be gone, DH and I may serve at a local interfaith dinner. Aaaaaand that's about it!

As a mom of 4 very busy kids, I find myself saying "this month is super busy." EVERY month! haha
My calendar has been looking like I just colored it all in. On the outset, this month looks quiet, but . . .

First up: My 15 yo is doing Tech/House Manager for her high school play "Imaginary Invalid" starting tonight and tomorrow.

Then, My 13 yo's tech week for Mary Poppins starts tomorrow and the musical start next weekend and the weekend after that. My older daughter will do Tech (Spot Lighting) for all of the Tech and Shows for it. So, my next 3 weekends are booked.

My 8 yo's 8 days of half days start next week and one of them is his parent teacher conference. All my other kids, were easy on this front . . .my youngest!?! Neither the teacher nor myself quite know what to do with him! You know that he is smart, you can have high level conversations with him, but he can do weird things like forget how to say "G" or spell his name on some random day. So, needless to say, I am not quite sure what his teacher will tell me at the conference! He has also begun band and hour early 2 days a week.

My work Holiday Party is next weekend and I am in charge of the photo booth, so I need to gather all of the items to do that.

Plus, Thanksgiving, of course.
I am sure that there is more that I am missing.

We only have ONE month of the year without any birthdays. Yes, it's November!! With 16 grandchildren, 4 children, and their spouses, and my husband and I, we celebrate a LOT of birthdays around the year!! October has the most--so with my computer crash in October, it didn't go over well. I missed a few of the birthdays!! (with special birthday layouts!)

November is kind of a slow month around here, but dh has decided to start decorating for Christmas this week. He LOVES Christmas, and last year we about killed ourselves trying to get everything out and the tree put up in one day. This SHOULD make the rest of the month easier!! Not sure what we're going to do about Thanksgiving. Our daughter in law is hosting her sister's family from Arizona. We usually have my son and ddil over here for Thanksgiving. Our house isn't big enough for both the families!! I could try though I guess!! Just don't want to horn in on their special visit!! so, not sure yet what we'll do. I really don't want to travel to any of the other kids houses because we are going to San Diego the first week of January for a granddaughter's wedding, and I was just down there in October. It's about 2 hours away, so not terrible, but I think I'd rather stay home!! Our other daughters live further away--one 5 hours away, and the other one is in Colorado. Maybe we'll host Thanksgiving for some older ladies at our church. We'll see!!

Well mine started busy with a girl's art weekend away (from PA) to Winchester, VA. Just got back tonight.

Next weekend is a Pinterest Party. Never heard of this? A group of gals gets together, each bringing a food to share from a recipe they found on Pinterest, along with a craft for everyone to create that they found on Pinterest. We've done this before, but decided to make this one fall/holiday themed. For my contribution, we will be making a felt fox coffee cozy. Too cute!

The middle of the month is my boys birthdays . . . the youngest turns 23 on the 15th and the oldest, 29 on the 16th. I usually take them each out to eat at the restaurant of their choice. This year, we may do one large dinner instead.

Of course Thanksgiving is the next week . . . I'm hosting just three this year (in addition to my husband and I). Then the craziness of holiday prep starts!

Sounds as though everyone has a busy month planned.

I had a pretty crazy weekend....

Friday I watched my daughters Siberian Husky. My daughter is staying at my brother's place for a few weeks while she sorts out somewhere to live. My brother is away most of the time. Karen was worried that Geisha would not settle down to another move. She was fine! Then I spent the night and we watched movies.

Saturday, I went to see Micky Dolenz at a private concert. I was such a huge Monkee fan as a teenager. He was a very lovely man, but the show was an odd format and I did not think it showed him to advantage at all.

Then the person who hosted this was trying to get ready for a charity event the next day - so from 11pm until about 4am I was making sandwiches. Then I had to get up really early for church on Sunday because I was a greeter.

THEN there was a fabulous boutique at church. It was so fun shopping.

THEN my husband calls to say he is heading for urgent care with a bad earache, so I met him there. He is feeling much better now.

Hi everyone!
Didn't get around to pop in last month since it really was CRAZY but hopefully things will slow down a bit - at least before Christmas start AND grading my students...So glad that our kids are adults so no school adventures, going to soccer practices, riding school or things like that any longer!

I am having a cold right now and I am actually home from work - was sick the whole last week during our Fall break.
Hubby and I celebrated our 28th engagement day last Friday and we managed to go to a restaurant at least.

Next week I am going away with some friends at work Fri-Sat to a BIG shopping place here in Sweden and on Sunday I have a scrapbooking get together.

That's about it (besides working full-time as a teacher that is) and we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here so that one thing less to plan.

Lori! What a fun idea with the Pinterest Party!

Lynnie - happy to hear your hubby is better.

Lynnie - Glad your hubby is feeling better, I know what earaches are like, I have had them all my life, and have had several surgeries on them, They are as bad as a tooth ache, so much pain....

Lori - never heard of a pinterest party but it does sound like fun, I will have to tell my daughter-in-laws about that, sounds like something they would love to try...

Well I had a busy weekend, all my children and grandchildren were here, so it was Family Game Weekend, we played games off and on all weekend, it's are favorite thing to do when we all get together, We played Pictionary it's my favorite with the grandchildren, you have to draw a card, then draw without talking and we have to guess the word or saying that you draw, whats so much fun is that the kids minds go in a totally different direction then the adults, and it makes for a fun game... we also cooked lots of food, which we all enjoyed.... probable gained 10 lbs... LOL but we had a blast....

Its very windy here today, I hear the wind blowing... hope it doesn't rain again today but we will see... you all stay warm and I will be back soon.... Have a GREAT DAY!

Every time I remember you are from Sweden, I am so impressed with your English.

Scrapbooking get together and big shopping place both sound like fun - and I agree on pinterest party.

!

We play Pictionary at work a lot - we have a team building activity called "Game Day!" It is so much fun. My family likes to play games too. Well, Steven and James do - Karen, not so much. Chris and David loved them too, when they were still here. The kids like to play cooperative games, where you play against the board. There is a fabulous one called "Pandemic" where all the players work together to save the world from an outbreak of disease. It is so much fun. We play Apples to Apples a lot at work, too. At home we would play Scattegories quite a bit as well, or Catch Phrase. Steven has a huge cupboard full of games and we are always treated to something new.

Saturday the 3 of us went to the band craft fair. It's the band's biggest fundraiser, and man, is it huge! It takes up most of the school (which is big) and goes for 2 days. We bought a few things, but didn't spend as much as we had in previous years.

Sunday we had church and choir practice for the big Christmas event our congregation always has in December. The practices are 90 minutes long, but well-worth the results we see in December.

We had a big craft fair at church and I bought some wonderful stuff. There was a mermaid garden, which is sort of like a fairy garden, but with succulents that look like seaweed and urchins. There is a little mermaid in the middle - I fell in love! There were the nicest arts and crafts, I bought some for gifts. There were fabric books for little ones and candles galore. I loved everything! It was wonderful...

I used to be in choir, but I do enough in other areas and am not the most amazing singer anyway... I wish you were close enough that we could come and listen to you :)

I love going to craft fairs, and flea markets... you never know what your going to find...

Wells it's another rainy and cold day here... we have had so much rain this year, I guess that's better than a drought... But it sure takes the fun out of walking the dogs... and the dogs aren't happy about it any more then I am... LOL Need to have me some lunch but don't have any idea what to eat... probable will end up with a sandwich... you all stay warm and safe where ever your at... I will try and do the same... Have a great day! :hi

I totally agree with loving to go to craft fairs and flea markets! Sometimes they are more fun than regular stores (and cheaper too).

Well, I am still home from work with a cold - it really knocked med down this time...The worst part is not being able to be at work - there are gonna be tons of stuff to do when I get back and I am NOT looking forward to it!

Hoping you all get to have a great day!

Aack! I am home alone for 3 1/2 days. What the heck do I do with myself besides scrap?

Oh my gosh - 3 1/2 days alone. I am so jealous. If I had 3 1/2 days ...

Some spring cleaning (but not much)
Scrap a lot, uninterrupted
Read
Write more of my book
Watch movies my husband doesn't like
Craft
Walk the dog
Sew something
Make Christmas presents and cards
Have lunch with someone I have not seen for a while
Go to see a movie by myself or with someone I haven't seen in a bit
Do something I have been putting off
Read my Bible (I'm a flake)
Spend additional time in prayer
Cook an amazing meal for myself
Maybe make a little cake and eat the whole thing
Plan my year-in-retrospect video

If I thought about it, I could think of so much more. Do what you love!!

Oh man, Ane! 3.5 days alone. I am so totally jealous. I would probably snuggle down in my bed and take a really long nap then go get some yummy dinner, or make alfredo if I wanted to cook. After that I would take another nap. Hahaha. Enjoy the time.

3 1/2 days, I would read, watch a few movies, walk the dogs, and eat foods that no one else will eat, like liver and onions simmering... spinach, feta cheese, with bacon omelettes, or maybe a quiche... Yummy I'm getting hungry.... :)
Today we had our first snow, the dogs had fun running and trying to catch the snow flakes, but it was so cold and windy we didn't stay out long... my body does not like the cold anymore... well I'm going to fix me a little lunch and then try and get some challenges done... you all have a wonderful day, and stay warm and dry... :smileyhug:

Thanks you guys!

How has everyone else's weekend been? It has been a quiet one for me other than my exam yesterday. This afternoon I made a big pot of my mother's chicken and vegetable soup....it's delicious! My dog gives it 4 paws up as well. :)
