Eren (my high school senior) and their band are going to be in the Rose Parade! It's been in the works for 2 years- they were supposed to go last year, but Covid happened. So there's the parade of course, and associated events, like a field show competition. They also get to go to Disney and a few other fun places. I'm so excited for them- I couldn't go with them because I don't think I could keep up with their pace (they go from thing to thing to thing . . .). Being a chaperone with this band is tough!

That's awesome, Ann! Congratulate Eren for us! Our South Band went to the Rose Parade several years ago. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! I didn't go either. No way I could keep up. Holy cats, do those kids MOVE!!!

Good luck with the renovations!

The housing market here has been crazy. Homes are selling for way more than they would have a year ago. I hope you have wonderful success!!!!

So sorry, it reno's...I am such a poor typer! We are remodeling our home, maybe to sell and buy a condo but haven't quite found anything we are interested in yet.

What a wonderful experience!! I hope she soaks it all in! :)

I lead two youth programs every year, and I have to select my chaperones very carefully. When I first took this job, I was told by my predecesor to "keep the kids busy, and keep them fed." So when we are in Washington, D.C., for a week, I have them up and out of the hotel by 7 a.m., and we don't get back to the hotel until around 10 or 11 at night. My goal is to have them see as much as possible and then to be too tired to cause any mischief! LOL!!!! After the trip, I usually come home and sleep for about three days! Ha.

Last night was quite the adventure in Kansas. We had temperatures in the 70s in the day, but a huge storm front rolled in. We had 80 mph winds, and other parts of the state saw over 100 mph winds. Driving home was a bit precarious, as the large trucks were driving slowly with their hazards on to keep from tipping over. When I turned off the interstate to head to our small town, I saw the sheriff with his lights on sitting at the side of the road. Then I saw what he was watching... several of the utility poles leading to our small community were snapped in half, the top half suspended in the air hanging by the power lines. Needless to say, our entire community was without power. It came back on around 2 a.m. I can't believe the linemen were able to restore that much damage in those weather conditions. My hats off to them! We had wide-spread outages across the state, and there were several fires, as well. With those winds, the fires were wide spread across the dry plains. I'm sure now that it's light, we'll be able to assess all of the damage caused by yesterday's weather.

Oh no, Breoni! How awful to hear about the storms and all the damage they created. Eighty to a hundred mile winds are extremely powerful. Terrible weather the country is experiencing especially in December when normally it's mostly snow and ice storms. There will be a lot of Worst Christmas Ever in thousands of households this year.

Those linemen are AMAZING!!! Our son-in-law (God rest his soul) was a lineman for years. He LOVED his work, even when he had to be called out on nights like that! He was so proud. We had that weather last night here in MN too breoni. It was CRAZY-foggy all day long. I couldn't see the neighbor's house most of the day, then it started to rain, late afternoon, then thunder and lightning and HIGH winds all night. We had a tornados hit two small towns in southern MN, but no major damage and no casualties! Thank God!
They've already decided to delay school for two hours and now it's snowing and blowing again! smh...

Wow, Breoni and Carla! Crazy weather! We were supposed to have high winds too, but they never got that bad. The temperatures have been nuts too. It's gotten to almost 70 at least 3 times this month, with only 1 cold day where it kinda snowed. :/

Yesterday was sunny and completely still. But it's dropped 40 degrees and it was cold. We spent the day picking up broken tree limbs from our house and helping the neighbors. When I took my daily walk, I saw soooo many shingles from roofs laying the street. The roof repair crews will be busy over the next few weeks. We had to replace our roof recently, and so it was able to withstand the high winds. We are feeling very lucky. We loaded up my husband's truck with all of the tree limps and took them to where the city allows us to dump things like that. There was already a huge pile. We could still see miles of line where the utility poles were snapped in half and still laying on the county roads. Hope everyone will be able to get their power restored soon.

Today is even colder, so it's a good day to stay in, finish wrapping presents, do laundry and house chores, and (of course) work on my scrapbook pages! :)

Yikes Breoni, so glad you are safe. There has been catastrophic events here in Canada as well. I am not in the provinces affected but know folks who are and thankfully all are safe. We are having g a cold snap that will last into the new year. Today's high is -16c with a wind chill of -28C and a risk of frostbite. The weather is unpredictable!

My granddaughter is getting to old to visit Santa, a pastime that I will miss so...today we are visiting "The Grinch" for photos. Our local nurseries puts on the event every year and I had Grinch masks made for us and found Grinch candy kisses for her. I am looking forward to spending the time with her the most!

Just announced yesterday that there will be another lockdown for gatherings until the new year, so no large family dinner that we were planning. :(

With just a week before the big day, I hope you all are safe and enjoying a wonderful holiday season!

Karen, so sorry that you won't be able to have your large family gatherings this year. I hope everyone stays stafe and healthy. Sending you big hugs.

We are having a small family dinner tomorrow afternoon, and half of the family is joining us remotely. So it will be a different experience, but we'll make it work!

Hi everyone! Did y'all have a crazy weekend like I did?

Friday was our anniversary, so we checked into a hotel across the river for a night alone. It was pretty nice! We also went shopping and volunteered to sell Christmas trees for the band as well.

Saturday we had a dress rehearsal for our choir concert. We also made bunches of cookies and boxed them up (32 boxes!) and watched a bowl game (our team lost, but it's ok). I made a Christmas book for Eren.

Sunday we had church (sang in our Christmas program) and gave away a bunch of those cookie boxes. I got a nap for once and we had the big choir concert. It was nice!

Today I went out food shopping. That's it so far. I hope to get some scrapping in or maybe working on Christmas cards. We've just been too busy to take care of those before now.

I have a layout in the layout of the week challenge, if you want to vote, it is the Chilly one, of the view alexis took from her window when she was up north.

Restrictions are coming back in across Canada, at different levels.
The three of us have our boosters booked for the 29 & 30

That’s awesome Ane.

‘’my turkey turned out perfect, thawed correctly, was moist and tender and the stuffing delicious. This was an accomplishment for me. Hope everyone else had a great day.m

I made a puzzle for my mother's birthday, but had it sent early so it would get there for Christmas- and they finished it the same afternoon. She was really happy with it.

My upstairs neighbour passed away, and I am now pending information regarding what this does to my mandatory move-out date. It should have been June, but now things have 'changed' so I'll see Tuesday.

I am working a lot (surprise) and I think of you all often, I am just sapped of all mental function.

Sylfie, that's an amazing puzzle! I'm sorry you're still having to work too much, but I hope you had a great Christmas. :)

Update on my EHD- the one I got Christmas day was defective, so hubby got me a new one today. I'm not sure it's working right, but at least the computer recognizes it!

Sylfie, that puzzle is lovely! What a gift of love!

We were lucky to have gorgeous weather to drive to our family get-togethers. But the temperatures now are becoming much more winter like. Yesterday, Randy and I went to two different zoos just to walk around. We started in the morning at the zoo in Wichita (they just completed their large cat enclosure), then last night, we toured the holiday lights display at the Topeka Zoo. They have a new Japanese Garden section, and they created lighted sculptures of a dragon, a coi fish, a paper crane, and a bonsai tree... just lovely. I will be editing those photos tonight and hope to make pages with them soon.

I really need to finish all of my 2021 layouts and figure out which layouts will be included in my annual printed scrapbook. Ahhh, the decisions!

Hope you all are having a wonderful week.

Oh Ane!!! I'm so sorry you're having such troubles with your EHD. That's so frustrating.

Speaking of EHDs!!! My original died and THANK GOD for Backblaze online backup! I have two and thank goodness I had noticed that the original was starting to act up. So I began transferring all of my really important stuff to the second... just in case. Well, it held out for a couple months and then, poof! Just up and quit the other day. Backblaze to the rescue. And I decided to have them send a new EHD with EVERYTHING and I'm keeping it as my new EHD so I should be set for another several years. I ordered it a week before Christmas and it shipped yesterday.

Hi everyone. I was on a bit of a hiatus but will be back for January. Hope you all had wonderful holiday.

Well, I am surviving my family being gone for a week. It's not fun. I mean, I like being alone but not lonely, and that is what I am. I don't have any close friends here and few people know I'm alone (for my safety). Oh, and my fridge died for a couple of days. Hubby contacted a repair service and they fixed it yesterday. The part that broke was so small, it's unreal. I haven't found much spoiled food, but I have a cold and so I can't really taste if it is or not, LOL!

I'll take myself out for lunch tomorrow, but that's probably all I'm going to do to commemorate the holiday. I'm just not a big spender and I don't like going out much, so that is that.

Someone's got to have something to cheer me up a bit, yeah?
