Sylfie, I've always been taught that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease." So congrats for standing up for yourself in a way that changes have been implemented. Oy vey... I couldn't imagine relying on someone on a different continent who wasn't pulling their weight.

Ane, I love reading about what's going on in your life... and you are NOT hogging the the page! LOL! Congrats to Eren's band. That's wonderful. I was in band from 5th grade through college, but we never won any competitions. We did travel from Pierre, South Dakota, to St. Louis, Missouri, once when I was in high school... and the bus broke down in the middle of the night and we slept outside at a gas station until the bus company could send a replacement bus! Ah the memories.

The weather yesterday was so beautiful that Randy joined me for a lovely fall walk. Some of our neighbors had piled up their leaves and were burning them, so everything had that fall / smoky feel. Hubby was not a fan, but I loved it. It reminded me of bonfires... just needed to make a few smores to complete the experience. It's supposed to be even nicer today, but I have some not fun plans for today (pre-surgery Covid test and an MRI in preparation for a surgery on Thursday). The good news is that I'll be able to stay at home for a few days and watch all of the home decorating and British baking shows I want! LOL!

I'm just happy you're coming home in January Syl! That means I get to SEE YOU!

Glad you had your tantrum and something came of it.

Congrats to Eren's band. I was in choir and we went everywhere! SUCH FUN!

Good luck on your surgery Bre.

Yes, good luck with your surgery, Breoni!

I am coming to you from my iPad mini because my computer is on the fritz. Again. We don’t have the money for a new one or we would have bought it by now. It’s pretty old and runs slow, but it’s worked well until this year. So no scrapping for me for a while, which was going to be the case anyway, with my upcoming trip. I’ll check in once or twice a day, but other than that, I won’t be around much.

everyone have a great couple of weeks!

Who writes a book every time she replies, itsame

Ane - I usually try every other route imaginable- and in this case, I feel like I have. One-on-ones, tickets, requests, statistical analysis reports, I have tried every route possible to see movement, and nothing was moving so... dynamite I guess.

Re, computers- technology is wonderful until it isn't, huh? Sometimes, depending on what's wrong, you can clone and replace the hard drive and not the WHOLE computer, which can bring the price point on a "new" one down. (That's what I did, my laptop's original hard drive is now a backup HD in a case). If you go that route, look for an SSD (solid-state drive), they're more reliable than an HDD (hard-disk drive).

Breoni - I try very hard to be pointed with my squeaking and only put my squeaks directly in the path of the person or people who can fix them.... but after six months of everything getting worse, and knowing that my mental health which is sluggish at best was deteriorating with every passing cycle, I had to put my foot down in a way that made them sit up and give it priority.

Carla - I know I am so excited! We get in on the 9th, and will leave on the 19th. I have a Plan-B meeting wedding dress meeting planned with the bride, because her mother in law to be is shirking on dress duty and trying to force her into WHITE when she's been very clear she wants it to be black, or ivory with a black tulle / lace overlay. The argument is that she needs to 'grow up and stop wearing black' accompanied with gifts of PINK clothing to "fix" her... which makes me roll my eyes in the biggest way. We absolutely need to have dinner or drinks! And you can meet Alessandro!

In terms of my invoicing things, the dry-run ran well, I found two errors and they had them fixed in a matter of hours, which is great. In terms of my dictatorship, it's going a bit less well. I am finding a lot of issues due to lack of detail, and I have this sinking feeling with every excuse that she's trying to snow me. She says things which, superficially, to a person who doesn't know anything about the processes involved, could sound true. But. They're all crap. One lie after the next, and I'm not sure how to best defuse the situation. I am pretty sure this continuous stream of excuses is why the process cycle she's running is in such bad shape- because no one has ever called her on it.

So for right now, any claim that's being made, I check it myself for feasibility, I verify with development that it is 100% not possible, and then I call her back and tell her as much. I absolutely do not want to embarrass her, or upset her, but at one week in, I am tired of being lied to, and I am tired of how much time I need to invest in one-on-one meetings and preparation for her to keep missing the mark and being inattentive to detail. And telling me that she's done and submitted live things that I can concretely prove she hasn't even touched! I was aware that there would be a learning curve, and that things would be "sticky" for the first month or so, but I underestimated how cranky that would make me! It's also likely not helping that right at the start of this learning curve, we have an unexpected complication which requires 90 product packages be reset and resubmitted to production within a week turnaround at most. That's a significant acceleration to "normal" expectations, and while we had my cycle done in 3h, her cycle is taking days longer to get to. I need to realign my expectations and be a good Buddhist, but my patience, it is being tested.

My most happy notice, I've been nominated for Baker's Best this week by Snojewel, which is part and parcel of my spot as Guest CT for Miss Fish. I have been churning through Christmas and family pictures left right and sideways this week!

Boy it seems I've been absent a lot longer than I thought. I actually missed Daily downloads 10-15! I've NEVER missed any in like forever! Oh, well. Life goes on.
Still arranging stuff and unpacking boxes. Things have been getting dusty real quickly because all the movement. There's so much stuff out of place, it's taking so much time. Only have an hour here, and and hour there a couple of days a week to work on it. We will manage to have 3 people over for Thanksgiving other than the four of us. First time having anyone over for a meal!
We finally have cable hooked back up and I'm finally able to sit and watch a couple of Christmas shows on Lifetime... you know the ones with the same storyline... girl meets boy, they fall in love and live happily ever after! I really think I needed some TV watching; I don't think we had cable since May!
Anyway, before I write a story...
Stay safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have a wonderful holiday! We are going to see my side of the family on Saturday, and hubby's side on Sunday. In addition to Thanksgiving, we will also be celebrating the birthdays of THREE of my nephews. And my sister-in-law has asked if I could take family pictures of her growing family. So it will be a busy and fun weekend.

Randy treated me to a date night last night... movie and dinner. We saw the new Ghostbusters movie. We both enjoyed it. It wasn't a comedy like the other Ghostbuster movies, but it did stay within the cannon of those films. It was well done. Then we went to have dinner at SPIN! pizza. We ordered a "sausage and apple" pizza on a cauliflower crust. It was really good, but man, it was pricey! Luckily, we still have lots of left overs. My goal is to eat up all left overs (and not cook) until we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families. Ha.

Hope you all have an amazing day! :)

Hey everyone, I’m finally back home. Long day! But we had a great time with my sons and their families. It was nice to get to know my new daughter-in-law better. I’m looking forward to an early bedtime. :)

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.

I seemed to be so busy with all the scrapping, posting and month end happening.
alexis busy month of volunteering, zooming, and virtual conferences is almost over.
austins friend is back in town and they are video gaming for the week.

over three days I walked a 10K “Turkey trot” which is great for me.
im so enjoying not having snow on the ground. Although freezing rain came down on me yesterday when I was out.

took DD in for a needed EKG today. Hopefully it doesn't show too much, her heart was at a steady 60 bpm due to her pacemaker, and they couldn't get it higher or lower.
Rained last night then froze, so pretty slick out, we waited till afternoon to go.
The number of ambulances at the hospital was shocking, usually aren't nearly that many (cardiology is right beside ER and a shared parking lot)
My iPad is giving me such grief right now. I want to cry. It is old as the hills, and scrapping on it is pushing its boundaries of capabilities. Kept shutting down on me tonight, so didn't get near done what I needed too.
Its weird that all christmas and winter kits and templates are out, yet we do not have snow, very unusual and i am not complaining.

Hi all! We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. Saw my family and hubby's family. Celebrated FIVE birthdays. And got to hold the newest member of our family who was born in July. I even managed to take my family out on our annual photo shoot and got some fun photos, so you'll be seeing those in my layouts over the next few weeks. Let's just say my nephews are complete hams! LOL!

When we were with Randy's family, his step-mother asked if we would host Christmas this year. I think she was surprised when I immediately said yes! They all know that I do not cook. But them seem to forget that I'm a professional event planner. My intention is to rent out a venue and hire a caterer! Done and done! LOL!!!! Randy said that he thought we'd just have it at our house. But we will have 16 people there (and we don't have a table or chairs for that many people). And... I reminded him that if we host it at home, that means we also have to decorate the house! So now he's motivated to help find a venue to rent! LOL!!!

It looks like I’m getting a new computer! I didn’t really want one right now, and we didn’t plan on buying one at this time. But we determined it to be the best of all the options the repair shop gave us. My old one is 7 years old- I had no idea it was that old. I won’t have it until tomorrow or Friday, so no scrapping yet for me. I guess I could still buy stuff from the sale and download later, eh? Something to look forward to.

Sherri, I’m sorry to hear about your iPad! Now I feel pretty insensitive for writing about my new computer. Sorry about that! I hope you can get it fixed or replaced soon. It’s tough to not be able to scrap!

Hi Folks,

It feels like forever since I have been here scrapping or commenting. SO much has been going on. I left for England November 8th and returned on 23rd. Then there was Thanksgiving, Decorating for Christmas and several Christmas parties and other events. I am actually home today and trying to get my life organized.

The trip to England was very difficult. My mother was not well the entire trip and it was very tiring. I am glad we took my daughter to help take care of her. We rented a cabin in Ingleton and spent time with my son and his family. One of my daughters friends came to stay. It was lovely to see her. A few cousins came to visit while we were there. After a week, we moved to Southport where we rented a flat. While we were there we visited my cousin's wife who has ALS (he died 2019), met up with a friend from primary school, had a cousins' reunion, met my sisters and their families and got lots of pub time in.

The cousin's reunion brought around 35 people to our flat. It was fabulous. I loved seeing them all. We are all pretty close.

My friend from Primary school was my best friend when I was little. I have not seen her in over 55 years. It was as though no time had past. I love her to bits.

The highlight was seeing my sisters for the first time. Well, half-sisters. We had seen them a few times when we were too little to make a connection. I have been hunting for them for over 50 years. We hit it off so well and I love having sisters. I have so many stories to scrap. The meeting went well and they decided we should have an event with their kids and grandkids. It was heavenly. I have met most of my new nieces and nephews. We are so happy.

ANyway, so much to scrap. I have caught up on all the news. Hope all is going well for everyone.

Lynnie, so glad you got to reconnect with family and friends. What a treasure!!!

Lonnie, I was wondering where you’d gone! :) I’m glad you had fun on your trip and have plenty to scrap.

Well, Friday passed and I still don’t have my computer. We are calling today to see what could be taking them almost 3 weeks. I miss scrapping and I have many pix from my trip to scrap.

Welcome back Lynnie! Glad your vacation/adventure was a success!. Sounds amazing! Sorry mom was not well, but good that you had family around to help. Such wonderful memories.

I come to you from my new computer! I am soooooo happy to have it to scrap and surf again. It's much faster and has a lot more storage, with a SSD. Now I just need an EHD, which may be a Christmas present, LOL.

Yay Ane! Congrats on the new computer! How fun. Hope you get the EHD for Christmas. I know I depend on mine so much!

Welcome back Lynnie, glad your trip was wonderful, except for poor Mom. Hope she is well now that she is home.

Working on remo's for the past couple weeks, exhausting!

Karen, I have to ask... what is a remo?

Still unpacking a finding a place for everything. I think that job will never be done!
On Friday night we came home from driving around looking at Christmas light displays in our neighborhood and I fell going up the last step into my kitchen and landed flat. Banged my bad knee (the one that had the miniscus tear) and it is still swollen and very sore to the touch. It pained and went numb instantly. I was able to get up and get it iced down and took some Aleve. I also landed on my left shoulder. Range of motion was limited and I'm gaining it back little at a time. That knee is going to be the death of me. Every time I fall I land on it. :(
We actually did something that we've always wanted to do now that we have a big kitchen. We baked cookies yesterday. We made over 10 dozen cookies. We baked sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies and oat meal raisin cookies. It was fun!!! Now to spread the wealth!

Lily Ann, OW! BIG (((HUGS))) I'd take some of your cookies off your hands, but hubby is making plenty here! So glad you get to do that in your new kitchen. :)

It's already holiday concert season here and we've been to 2 already with about 3 to go (2 of which I'm singing in. On the same day.). I think I have everything ready for Christmas, though I could probably use more things for the stockings. I wish my boys and their families were coming, but since my hubby and youngest has to leave for Rose parade stuff 2 days after Christmas, it wouldn't be worth it. Sigh. The good thing about having older kids at Christmas is they like to sleep in. No more 4 am wakeups!

OMGosh LilyAnn! I'm so sorry about your fall. Hope you heal quickly. Saw your pix of family baking on FB. Looked like a GREAT haul! You could just pack up one of those boxes for me... *hint* *hint*!

Ann, good luck with your concerts and "The Rose Parade"?!? OH WOW! Is that for marching band? I see you also got your blog into your siggie! Well done.

Lily Ann, hope your knee feels better soon. How exciting to turn your kitchen into a cookie factory. I actually was treated to a box of decorated sugar cookies yesterday from one of our vendors, but since I'm no longer eating sugar (Lord, help me), I gave the cookies to my coworkers. Needless to say, the cookies were gone in a flash.

Ane, tell us more about the "Rose parades stuff"! :) I love watching that on TV.

We're staying pretty low this week. Our adult daughter is quarantining now, so we will delay our immediate family holiday's until she and her boyfriend feel better. I'm taking some much-needed vacation from work. In fact, tomorrow is my last day in the office until January. So I'm planning some projects like finalizing our wills and other things that we've been putting off for years. I also have several boxes that need to be taken to donations, so that motivates me to clean out some more closets to make the trip worthwhile! :) I look forward to starting the new year with an organized home! Yay! Now I just need to get to work on it! Ha.

Eren (my high school senior) and their band are going to be in the Rose Parade! It's been in the works for 2 years- they were supposed to go last year, but Covid happened. So there's the parade of course, and associated events, like a field show competition. They also get to go to Disney and a few other fun places. I'm so excited for them- I couldn't go with them because I don't think I could keep up with their pace (they go from thing to thing to thing . . .). Being a chaperone with this band is tough!
