I had a pretty good weekend. Last week was bad for the pain though. Luckily yesterday and today it is light and bearable. Today I am just hanging out, enjoying the company of Eren & hubby, who is working at home today.
 
Hello Ladies, It has been raining and storming here. No flooding where I am, but my daughter has issues with it every time we get a lot of rain... She can't get out where she lives the road to her house floods all the time, so she keeps things stocked well and also has a generator for when the power goes out. But she loves being out in the country away from people and has room for all her animals. I prefer to live close to stores and hospitals, In my younger days I lived in the country with lots of animals, I guess that why my kids all love animals. But as long as she is happy I'm happy. She chose not to have children so her animals are her babies. And she spoils them all... LOL
Got my votes in for survivor, so many good layouts makes it so hard to pick only 6, but I finally got it done. Looking forward to the next challenge, and wishing everyone good luck.
We are all dealing with issues, health, family, losing loved ones, lockdowns, and so forth and I am praying for all of us. Hope things improve for all of us.

The kitchen cabinets were delivered today. There are a lot of them. We have a nice BIG kitchen not like what we had upstairs. We are complaining about not enough space. Thing is upstairs our bedrooms were big and kitchen and dining room were small. Downstairs it is the opposite. Big kitchen and small bedrooms. We can't fit what we had in our bedrooms upstairs in our new bedrooms. Oh, the things we have to compromise. I couldn't use both pieces of my parents bedroom set. I had to settle for a new bed with draws underneath and one piece of furniture from my parents.
 
Day 3 of rewiring...had some time when the power was on that I commented and voted today. So many beautiful LO's made it really hard to vote.

We are in for some nasty weather, the winds have already started with 60k to 80k with rain showers. It will turn to flurries tomorrow with an expected 10-12c of snow then on Thursday it is supposed to be a high of +9c...CRAZY!

I guess I will just hunker down and scrap! I hope everyone is well!

Wow, Lily Ann, you've had to downsize a lot! Is the big kitchen worth the small bedrooms?

Karen, I hope your weather wasn't as bad as predicted! We're supposed to get chillier temps here too for a few days. Sigh.

Today I get my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. I'm a little nervous, but glad. I wanted to get both shots before I head out to visit my grandbaby in May, and now I will.
 
It sounds as though everyone is doing well, I am so glad :)

I spent the day sorting out my craft room, which is really an enclosed balcony. it looks so much better than it was and I am SO glad. My husband put up some deep shelving for scrapbook paper. I went through boxes and boxes of scrapbook paper and saved only what would fit on the shelves. I ended up with two large storage boxes (Think big) and a bankers box filled with paper. I am dropping it at the church tomorrow for the school. I have one more crate that I had already sorted. I am looking forward to offloading all this stuff. I also have a carload of stuff going to a warehouse size thrift store. It feels so good. I have so much more to downsize, but it is a beginning.

It's gotten to the point where it looks like I'm going to be throwing stuff in boxes and sort through it when I bring it down stairs. It's only when you do and move or downsize do you really come to understand what you REALLY need and things you save for maybe I can use this. And then there's the WANTS. It is sooo tough going through everything. At least 17 bags went to donations and we're still not done.
 
When I first read the challenges for this week I knew what I wanted to scrap. Than, Oh No, I packed that needle work Hummel picture away already that I've been wanting to hang for years. Than I saw something sitting next to me that has a story to it and I snapped some pictures (not the best quality). Than next to that was some stained glass pieces I made at one of our library's activity nights (pre Covid) and I snapped some pics of those as well. Now to find the time to scrap! Can someone give me more hours!!!
 
Hi all. Hope things keep going for us all.

We had that storm a few a few days ago Karen. Record high temps then grass fires pushed by gusting winds over 100 leading to evacuations, then a snow squall / blizzard came through causing whiteouts and a 70 car pileup down south. Unheard of here. Semis were getting flipped on highways from winds.

I know what what I want to scrap for both but not sure where pictures are. Our photos are a mess and I don’t know how to fix them.
 
Goodness, I'm all out of my April Fools jokes. Ever since my youngest was born on April 1st, I swore off of April Fools shenanigans for their sake.
 
Hi everyone, So busy the last few days but our electrical upgrade is completed so no more power interruptions. They did a wonderful job and luckily we had no access holes created and the workmen were fantastic! Now to empty the closets where I stashed all our extra stuff but not really looking forward to sorting and organizing it all.

I did mangage to get both my week 3 challenge done as well as the immunity challenge. I was glad it went together well.

The bad weather we were forcasted for turned out better than expected, jsuta couple of cm's of snow that melted but the winds are ferocious the past couple days. In areas of the city there was reports of sheds and fences beign destroyed. The forecast is looking brighter just not for today.

We still have a lockdown until after Easter so we will just be having a small dinner with our cohorts and siblings are all taking a day with Mom. Today is my day so I am going there later for an early dinner. We used to have perogies every Friday as my maternal grandfather was Ukranian and did not eat meat on Fridays, this was his day to visit as my grandparents were divorced. So since the siblings are making meat dishes I am doing the perogy dinner and I prefer less meat anyways.

I hope everyone is able to visit or connect with your loved ones and wishing you all a blessed Easter.
 
Gosh how is it already April.

I worked 10h on the 1st and 11h on the 2nd. I am fried.

Mum has been digitising all of the old pictures from my Grandmother and Grandfather growing up. It's so strange seeing them, not even because of the pictures of my grandfather, but more because I see Norman in all of these pictures, and I know that his final resting place is in France (because I am the only one from my family who was able to go there and see it). The first time I was due to go to Paris, I started having recurring nightmares about having someone coming to the door with a flag, and I decided hell or high water, I would go. I broke about a dozen of the university's rules, used my absolutely rudimentary French and suggestions from the concierge at the hotel, and took off from Paris to Normandy on a free day at 5am. I came back in around 7pm, and the concierge asked me how Normandy was.... right as the Professor came down the stairs. He agreed we'd go with 'don't ask, don't tell', and I never got in trouble for it (he would have gotten in more trouble than I would have). After that, the nightmares stopped. So just seeing these pictures, I end up almost in tears. It's so crazy to feel so attached to someone I never knew, who died decades before I even existed.

She also has a lot of genealogy information, and when Covid restrictions reduce, I think I'd like to try and track down where the family came from in Sweden and Norway.
 
I love delving into my family through genealogy research. It is not the names, though, it is the stories that go along with them. It is the newspaper article about my grandfather's brothers who died in a fire, or the village history books that record our family members who worked the lifeboats, or the great great great grandfather who issued the licensing for the cockles and mussels in the village. It is reading the birth and death certificates and finding what their parents did for a living, where they lived, where they were born and how they died. It is looking at the parallel history and how they lived during that time. Picturing the cooking, the shopping, the everyday lives they lived. I can get lost down a rabbit hole looking for a single ancestor, finding his brothers and sisters and the little bits of evidence that lead me to believe exactly who they were.

I have spent a lot of time on my grandfather who fought in the Battle of the Somme in WWI. He was in a bantam regiment, all under 5ft 1in. He was the corps bugler. I have followed his regiment around Europe and pictured his life in the trenches and my grandmother working for the factories at home and my mother being evacuated. The 1939 census tells me that Mr. Taylor really did board at the house during the war and there was a park behind the house where my grandmother found his little dog and got rewarded. I found stories about the carting business that my great great grandfather and his brother started and stories about the carting industry in Liverpool and how it worked. I found pictures that other Ancestry members had of my great great grandfather and his brother.

Love love love history and genealogy!

We are having the kids here for Easter so it will be the seven of us plus little Bruce. It is the first holiday we have gathered for. We are all vaccinated and the kids have had COVID, so we feel it is pretty safe :) We will still take precautions, though, lots of hand washing for sure.

I am really excited. It is the first real holiday together since COVID, although we have had made new traditions that are fun! We will continue to make every holiday count, even when we can't gather together.
 
Good on everyone for having Easter celebrations! We are going over to our friends' house for dinner, and bringing our traditional bunny cake (carrot cake shaped like a bunny head). Eren is too old for any of the traditional kiddie stuff (none of us like boiled) eggs anyway). I buy some candy and iTunes gift cards and put them in the baskets we've had forever. :)

Looking forward to getting out of the house and enjoying company!
 
The kids and I are going to Molly's boyfriends' house for Easter dinner. As you could probably image that my house is not in any shape right now to host any get togethers. Jeff will be staying home as he works the graveyard shift and usually sleeps in the evening before going to work. He's not really a "gathering" type of person.

The kids room was totally moved downstairs. They are sleeping down there now. We tore up the rugs in their old room and it will be painted sometime this week. Basement has the sheetrock up and spackled once. Second coat on this week than the paint down there. Some of the stuff in my closet was brought down and some was put in a donation bag. So much to do and not enough time.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
I took some time away the past week as our pup fell in the pool & passed away. Was pretty upsetting especially for the kids who were all home when it happened, funny how a few minutes can change your life. We all cried for days

Anyway, the day after that, all 4 of my boys got sick with a cold & just north of us had gone into 3 day lockdown with our area having mandatory masks for the 3 days. Hubby took the boys for a covid test as they weren't able to go back to school without a negative result & hubby was forced to have a test too & then they were all in isolation until the results came back 3 days later. My daughter & I were the only ones allowed to leave the house so we were very busy looking after everyone ... now I am getting a sore throat & a sniffle too ... nooo!

Just getting back into scrapping today after running around for everyone & finally got more toilet paper, can't believe how stupid people went for the lock down last week, it wasn't even for our area! We still have to wear masks for the next 2 weeks which doesn't bother me but like my re-usable shopping bags I keep leaving them in the car lol.

Just enjoying the easter long weekend with hubby & the kids before we go back to work and start on a few of the 40-50 vehicles we have to put stickers on then in between that we will be having a massive yard clean up as we didn't realise part of the pool fence had come down in the storm a few weeks back, that's how the pup got down there :( so that is where we will start, haven't had a big spring clean in a while so it will be good to just get rid of the things we no longer need.

Oh Sam, I'm so very sorry. That's got to be so tough. Sorry you had to go through all that illness at the same time.

Sounds like things are really moving along at the house, LilyAnn. Keep your head up! Enjoy the chaos.

Sam, so sorry to read about your puppy.
My son is in Brisbane and when we spoke to him yesterday he was going to have Easter at home as a few of the Hot Spots in the Redcliffe area are where they shop.

Ane, the Easter Cake sounds yummy and fun. It is interesting what hear what people give instead of Easter Eggs at Easter.
We give our Grandchildren pyjamas and a small token Easter Egg as they end up with so much chocolate at Easter time.

We spent Easter Sunday having High Tea at a place called Gunners Barracks which is a beautiful old building constructed in 1873. It overlooks Sydney Harbour, the views are spectacular.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Easter Break.

Leanne, How fun having high tea for Easter!!

My Easter was wonderful! One of the best ever, except for not attending in-person church. It was our first family gathering since the pandemic began. I worked hard on the menu, not just what we were eating, but I created a schedule of exactly when to do what. I can't believe how much easier it made it. I usually just do it, kinda knowing when I should do stuff, but this was awesome. I am keeping the schedule for next year. It literally said things like 10:55 preheat oven 11:00 Put lamb in to sear for 15 min at 450, 11:15 turn oven down to 375 etc. I used a combination of the instant pot (carrots and turnips), air fryer (roast potatoes), stovetop (mashed potatoes, gravy, vegan stir fry), and oven (lamb, roast sweet potatoes, then when lamb was resting, rolls)

It all came out at the same time and was all nice and warm. We used the fine china, crystal glasses and cloth napkins.

After we ate, we stacked the dishes and painted Easter cookies. THAT was fun!

Then we took family pictures, they weren't fabulous, my daughter was in a bit of a rush to leave with her boyfriend and my grandson was causing my poor son and DIL fits. I have one pic of my daughter that is breathtaking and the rest are fun to have. My DIL is beautiful, too. I have some pretty pics of her.

The kids left and husband Rand and I tackled the chaos left behind. it did not take anywhere near as long as I thought it would. We moved the table back (the leaves come out and it folds up into a small sideboard) and hand washed all the dishes and put them away and before we knew it we were sitting down with a nice cup of tea watching the evening church service.

I am just so glad to have been able to safely gather today. There were 8 adults all together, five of whom have had their jabs and two of whom have had COVID. Plus my little grandson Bruce, who has also probably had COVID (both his parents did and he was quarantined with them and displayed some symptoms.) It was our first family gathering since the pandemic hit.

Anyway, I am rambling, I am just happy :)
 
That sounds delightful Lynnie.

We had the community easter bunny come by. That was a very bright spot for us. Great to be in a community that has people do that.

Lynnie, you are as busy as ever, I see! How nice to have your family together again! I look forward to the times when my family can be together. :)

Sherri, that is nice to have a community that provides such a service! That would be so fun. :)

Dinner with our friends was really nice. We talked for a good long while, and they even included our teenager in the conversation, which was so nice. It's nice to get out and do things with friends!

I am doing well. Contemplating this week's challenge while Eren watches anime in the background. Also, I need to eat lunch, LOL. It's one of those days where I slept in til 10 and shouldn't have. :D
 
This weeks survivor challenge, Contemplating them.

I got my first vaccination today. Canada is stretching second doses, so 16 weeks till the next one unless we get more vaccines earlier than expected.

Kids are booked for Monday. I am so relieved at this..

third wave is starting to hit some provinces and tighter restrictions are being put into place.
 
It is an interesting challenge, Week 4. I can imagine it is taking up your time :)
