Thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2021} Let's get to know each other!

I meant to post and don't know if I did. I've been in pieces with work. They gave all 3 of the people who can do task A the day off on Tuesday, so I, capable of doing task A, had to stop assigned task P which gets us all paid to do it. I worked 11 hour days three days in a row and "only" worked 7 the last day (supposed to be a 34h week because I am on this weekend), and it has just left me with a brain scramble instead of functioning cognitive patterns. I'm hoping to get some scrapping in and catch up a little if I'm feeling up to it after work.

Best wishes for a good week for you all, and I'm excited about Survivor!

Lynnie, that must be so exciting for you.

Please, please keep the group active during Survivor! That's how I found y'all!!!

I’m excited I was one of the winners for Survivor guessing where it is. Lynnie will you be well enough to run the alliance?

I signed up for Survivor! Anyone else?

For those who asked, here is the Wafflers' Alliance thread.
https://forums.gingerscraps.net/showthread.php?56428-Everyday-Wafflers-Alliance

I am limiting the number this year, there were too many to keep track of last year and quite a few were not wafflers. Having said I am limiting the number, if I have reached that number and a legit waffler wants to join, then I would certainly say yes!

Lynnie, I have posted in your Alliance but if you prefer as I have stated you can kick me out as I am also part of another alliance.

Thank you! Now if I can just get GS to recognize my profile pic, I'll be set!
SO frustrating. I tried to change it and it reverted to the Sugar & Spice profile. Now I can't get it to change to ANYTHING else. I've put in a support ticket. smh

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing all right. I had a pretty non-eventful weekend, same old, same old, shopping, online church, nap, family time. Nothing too exciting.

Sam and Alta, it's good to see you back here!

Best wishes for a good week for you all, and I'm excited about Survivor!

Thanks Ane, glad to be back again & creating where I can

Thats really wonderful Lynnie. I have been doing my tree on & off since my grandad passed 12 years ago. My Nan his wife had dementia in her final years so I wanted to make sure I got as much info as I could but it was hard to know what was real & what wasn't. I have managed to track down a distant cousin in England, we thought my great grandfather was an only child turns out he had siblings so I am on the hunt for them now. You might like rootschat.com as well, have had some really helpful genealogists help me find a few tough people on my tree.

It has been a really insane month for me, too, in a good way. I don't remember if I shared at all at the end of February, but I have three half sisters from my dad's first marriage. My brother and I have tried to find them for the last 40 years. My aunt always thought it was best if we did not. We never agreed, but we could not get any information out of her and when she died there was no additional information in her flat.

I have tried to find information through a combination of Ancestry and Facebook. Their names were quite common and I never found anything particularly useful. I searched through name and address sites, googled them and went through a fresh frenzy of looking every year or two.

I was contacted on Ancestry by a person doing research for a young lady who was a previously unknown daughter of a someone in my tree. He died recently and he showed up on her search. I mentioned when chatting her aunt that I would give anything to find my sisters and within 24 hours she had come up with a Facebook account for one of them. I have spent the last few days catching up on all the years of our lives they were apart.

I have chatted for hours and hours and the discussions have been amazing. They look wonderful, I have enjoyed going through their Facebook accounts and I am loving our conversations. I will say it is hours out of every day catching up. I am sure it will calm down, but for now it is a whirlwind of information. I won't scrap much on them until I have their permission. I did this years ago and redid it with an updated kit. I like this one more...

I had this with my great grandfather & one of my great grandmothers. Found part of my great grandfathers tree, still working on my great grandmother, older relatives tell me she was some sort of gypsy but nobody knows where she came from or who her family were except my Nan & she had dementia by the time I started my research. I do love family history, its been very interesting, on my mums side there was always a story of a great uncle running away from Poland dressed as a woman & came to Australia, we found that side of the family & they said yes the story was true & one of my mum's 2nd cousins has written a book about the tale.

That's super exciting, Lynnie! I just love it when people have family history breakthroughs. :)

We have a family history puzzle with my husband's family. His great-grandfather did not tell anyone about the family he came from. Not his parents, nothing. And anyone who did know, died before telling anyone. So they are making educated guesses, hiring professional genealogists, etc. It sucks. So I love it when others have success!

Oh I haven't looked at the mega kit yet or even where we are going. I signed up but have been swamped with work. Better go shopping while hubby isn't here :)

Haven't been in for a few days
Just signed up for Survivor! So excited because I'm a big crafter! I'm off to grab the mega kit. :D

Well sorry for the back to back posts, I got a bit response happy. Needed a break from my day, my brain is feeling a little scrambled.
We have gone from plodding along in work to gang busters busy. Friends of ours bought a tank company & they want to update all the signage around the facility, along with 20+ vehicles to strip the old signs off & re-do the signs. Its a massive job & going to take the best part of 3 weeks once everything is approved. Then my brother got us another big job 15 cars & a shop front to re-do, successful on that quote too! One of our regular clients has 3 new pop up shops in the next week he wants done & we have our friends obstacle event coming up on 26th & 27th, we do all their signs for them & also help work the event. Feeling like we have bitten off more than we can chew but fingers crossed it all works out, doing our best to make it all happen. Just hoping I can still get a few layouts done for survivor as well.

Puppy goes for her last vaccination on Thursday which will be great, she gets so upset if we have to go anywhere without her. She's not anxious just very curious & wants to explore, she is going to love the obstacle course.

Come to a bit of a standstill on my family tree, waiting for some more marriage & birth certificates to come through to further my search. Have found a few lovely people to help in rootschat.com so much to search in there & found a possible relative. waiting for them to respond as they may be the link I need to find my Great grandmother who seems to only have existed after she got married, can't find anything before that & what I do have for her is very limited :( I will keep chipping away as I have time

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week

I uploaded my DNA and mom’s DNA to my heritage and I’ve got matches there that I don’t have on ancestry. I’m hoping one of them will be the one that helps in my brick wall. My mom’s grandfather Philip Hurley is not well documented. We know from DNA he is a hurley but are not positive who his mother is. I’m doing everything from her DNA as she is one generation closer. Wisconsin in 1888 approx. very frustrating.

im slowly getting everything back working and connected after the power supply failure, and that caused hard drive corruption. I’m not sure what I’m missing, or lost. Passwords for sites, and bookmarks have been a pain to get hooked up again.

Lynnie, I have posted in your Alliance but if you prefer as I have stated you can kick me out as I am also part of another alliance.

You are definitely a part of our Alliance!! :) Never doubt it. Participate in as many as you want, but know you are greatly loved here!

Wafflers, I am so sorry I had to delete the original Alliance thread. I needed to post the weeks at the beginning of the thread before folks started signing up. It was too hard keeping all the layouts and links in one giant post last time. ANyway, I preserved the names of those who signed up and I added my weeks :)

Hello Ladies, hope your all doing well and staying safe and healthy. I have been doing good this week. I needed to go to the store and get a few groceries, went out to the car and it wouldn't start....GRRRRRR but my son came to the rescue. And now it is running again. What a relief... I see a lot of you are signed up for survivor... I can't wait, I wasn't able to play the last one, so looking forward to it this year. I have been working on challenges, trying to get most of them done so I can concentrate more on the layouts for survivor.... What fun... I hope I can make it further this year... but win or loose it's still a lot of fun! Good luck to everyone that is playing. You all have a great week and I will return soon... :)

There are no eliminations this year, Alta. They tried that last year and it worked out well, so they are doing it again. Each week they will publish the top 10! How exciting is that.

Susan - did you want to be part of the Everyday Wafflers' Alliance?

Ann-Marie and I started the "Cheer Squad" alliance and while she can do more than one, I don't think I can spread my time equally with more than one. I'll be "unofficially" rooting for you gals though!!!

Is everyone as excited as me?? I can't wait to see what the challenges will bring, I am READY and will be cheering everyone on, go GIRLS!

How fun!! You had asked, so I wanted to make sure because the spots are filling up. We will cheer you on, too :)

Hi everyone my name is Bernice I was active in this chatting group awhile back but then well I guess I just got busy. I live in Washington State but I am currently in Arizona for a couple of months and the internet down here is terrible in fact yesterday I could not get anything to load and for some reason this week has been worse than others for internet connection so hopefully I can still pop on here and chat as I look forward to getting to know all of you. I am pretty active in doing the challenges and I am looking forward to survivor. I hope everyone has a good weekend

Hi Bernice, and welcome back to the thread! :)

I'm really looking forward to Survivor too. I love having to work and think about a page before I make it, and learning new things along the way. I can hardly believe this will be my 4th time "competing."

As for life, I am doing all right. Lately, the pain strikes me in the morning then goes away as the day progresses. It's been nice, though I prefer it to be gone permanently. We have had some rain and it looks like more is on the way. Eren is Eren, going to school 4 days a week then gaming and watching anime when they aren't in school. Hubby has worked from home for the past couple of days. It's been nice to have him around.

How's everyone else doing?

Both bedrooms were spackled this week and one bedroom got the first coat of paint. All doors in the rooms were replaced. I think we are going to do the back room in the basement next so we can bring stuff back there to store while we work on the rest of the house. I still have to finish packing the China cabinet which I'm anticipating will be 5 small boxes. I didn't realize how heavy the China set really is. Can't put all I want in each box because it will be too heavy. Hopefully I can get what it left in the kitchen down stairs done this weekend as well. Can I have MORE hours instead of loosing one. Don't forget clocks ahead an hour on Saturday night.

Getting lots of low grade headaches, don't know if it is because of the stress or my allergies (mold and dust) which is constantly being moved around.

Hope everyone is staying well and I really hope I have time to participate in the Survivor Challenges.

Good morning ladies,

I'm on vacation, and it does not feel like it. A year ago today I was desperately trying to get a flight out of Spain before they closed the borders the next day, and I don't know where this year has gone. I am thinking about making bracelets, but will hopefully get some scrapping in. I am trying to finish my La Rocca scrapbook before I start in on the next one (which is still a year old because looking at all of the travel pictures makes me stircrazy-er).

Hi Bernice!!! Welcome back!
LilyAnn, sounds like everything is coming along quickly. Can't imagine how difficult all that packing is. I know my allergies wouldn't take it well either, much more my back and knees!
What a crazy year it's been huh, Syl? How are you doing otherwise, sweetie?
Getting excited for Survivor. Hope the challenges lend themselves well to Hunter's honor book. teehehehe
