Sam, it is great to see you pop in and share all your news with us. I hope you heal well from your surgery.
I do like little Bindi! I would love to have a dog but not really possible with our lifestyle and they do cost money.

Its so nice to be able to take some me time again.
Healing well so far, still bleeding a little as they didn't stitch the wound up but can hopefully drive again after the check up.
Who'd have thought an abcess on my thigh would require surgery, a stay in hospital & so much drama lol

Bindi has been such a blessing & she fits right in with all the chaos. We haven't been able to take her anywhere yet as she hasn't had her last lot of shots yet. The breeders & vets have said parvo virus is killing so many puppies, so we have kept her in our yard for now.

Kids & dogs cost money I know, I got 5 kids & 2 dogs but they are the sprinkles to my cake :)

Does anyone else NOT do social media - or more to the point, has anyone given up social media having had it before?

I ask because I am really having a hard time with Facebook. I have a lot of friends that I keep up with only there and if I leave it, I know I won't do the email or chat thing. It just doesn't ever happen.

I know SM is invasive. I know it's toxic. I know I should leave it. I just don't know how to break the addiction.

What in the heck did we do before Facebook??

I do social media, we have family spread far & wide & its the quickest way I can keep them updated on us. I only have Facebook & Instagram though, can't be bothered with all the rest. Did have twitter for a while but I just didn't enjoy it.

I am also in a few groups for family history & have found some lovely people that have helped me research my family across the pond.

I also use SM for work as we help market our friends obstacle course

I do have some other friends that I wouldn't keep up with if it wasn't for SM, I guess its a blessing and a curse cause I spend far too much time on SM but sometimes its the only connection I have with family & friends

Oh Sam, she's gorgeous, but I'm a dog-gal so I love'em no matter what!

Susie, you know my opinion of SM. It is what it is and you have to temper yourself. Like Ane and Anne-Marie both said, SCROLL!!! I just don't know why you keep getting hit with people who want to report you and lock up your FB account. You really need to check your friends list and purge. I just don't get it. I post things WAY worse than you do and I get no trouble from the farce-police. I get farce-checked all the time, but I ignore it and waltz on my merry way.

The scary thing? If it is indeed that my friends are reporting me, they are really good liars and are playing both sides with me. I can't think of one person who is that petty - but I really don't know a lot of them in person.

Hello Everyone... its been several days, thought I would check in... LOL I am bad about that.
Lynnie I hope all is going good with you and you have been doing everything the doctor tells you, and not over doing it... Take care of yourself
I finally got all 10 challenges done today, wasn't sure if I was going to make it... LOL I also plan on joining in on the Survivor this round, wasn't able to join in on the last one. It is a lot of fun, and hope I make it farther than I did last time I played... It is so much fun to see the different layouts from everyone... I need to spend more time in the gallery and share some love on the amazing layouts. Will work on that...
You Ladies have a great night and I will try and get back here in the next few days.
:kisses

I actually got three challenges done this month. That's three more layouts than I've done in oh........... dang near a year. CV sucked everything out of me! I am really excited about Survivor. I just hope they don't do anything with a "CV" theme. I want them to stay as far away from the pandemic as possible.!!!

I agree. No Covid. No politics. No BLM. Nothing from real life. I'm so done with the world right now.

It's been a while since I posted anything here.
My sister and I finally agreed with what the lawyer said we should do. I gave the lawyer the money for my share of the house which he will hold in escrow until all paper work goes through the court and the house it turned over to me with my own deed to the house. This should take about 6 to 8 weeks.
The contractor will start painting the 2 bedrooms so we can store things in there until the rest of the middle floor is done. He said he'll start in two weeks, which means I have 2 weeks to totally clear out those two rooms.
Dining room is mostly packed except for 2 shelves in China cabinet. That's were the work is because everything has to be wrapped.
It's getting there!
Problem is where will we fit everything from our upstairs apartment to downstairs new living space incorporating what I want to keep from my fathers.
Yesterday we tackled the back room in the basement. My father had about 5 bags of old looseleaf binders that we threw out. We organized and moved things around and it looks so much bigger back there. Don't know what we will be using that room for yet.
Busy, busy, busy....
Everyone stay safe!

Michi, you sound so busy. You always do. You must miss cruising. I have had both shots, no reactions

Anne-Marie, we will miss your art journaling challenge. I understand it is additional work to keep it going It was fun while it lasted, though. The plan I signed up for was $49 for a month of recipes, shopping lists and a meal plan. All do it yourself. I am glad i did it. You get offered the purchase of a ton of other things, but they are optional.

I probably will not do Survivor this time. I will definitely participate from the sidelines.

Susan, I do pretty minimal social media. I do FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter. I post layouts, mostly. I do have several private groups I belong to and spend most of my time there. Nothing has anything to do with anything controversial. I had a friend recently text to ASK what my political views were. We had a discussion, but it was private and respectful. I use it as a major source of interaction with my extended family, and some hobbies I pursue. Instagram I follow because of some groups and people I like to follow, but I seldom do anything on it. Twitter I check when I need information on something (like why am I stuck for 2 hours in the same spot on the freeway!) My son stepped off social media for a long time. All three of my kids barely do social media. They were all off it for a long time. Karen recently joined again, but keeps it light and friendly.

Sam, I am glad you are back It sounds as though you still have a lot going on, though. Bindi is precious.

Alta, congratulations on completing your challenges.

LillyAnn, I am glad things are sorted with your sister, and I hope it has not caused family drama. I sympathize with your 'stuff' plight

Sounds like you are on a mission & hopefully you will have a space you will love to live in!
I am working out how I can add about 3 extra rooms to my house so we have room to fit everyone.
With 5 kids & their friends all coming around now it gets very hectic

Come on lottery win ha ha

Pretty much on the same page regarding Social Media as the rest of have shared.

Yes, I have a Facebook, and it is used to keep up with 'some' of my friends. I use messenger a lot because it is private.
I rarely post anything on my own FB timeline anymore. It's a choice. I got real tired of just being ignored or blasted for something I shared...even if it was something simple, nice or even silly. [I know Susan understands].
I even stopped sharing my scrapbook pages on my own FB. Why?...hardly anyone had any interest in what I was sharing. I do have a private FB folder that I place my LO's in and my husband can view them.

I post my CT layouts in scrapbook groups. I do chatter on other crafting groups such as crochet, knitting, sewing and embroidery.

I've never had a twitter or an instagram.

Hello Ladies.... Boy I sure am glad the weekend is over... had a rough one. Needed to go to the grocery store, went out and the car wouldn't start, it was dead... My son is checking it out... And then the internet and electric went out... But woke up to a good Monday morning so far everything is running again!... fingers crossed nothing else happens. Will be scrapping, checking messages, and getting caught up. You all stay healthy and safe... will pop in again soon!

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing all right. I had a pretty non-eventful weekend, same old, same old, shopping, online church, nap, family time. Nothing too exciting.

Sam and Alta, it's good to see you back here!

Best wishes for a good week for you all, and I'm excited about Survivor!

Ane, I am not participating in Survivor this year, but thought I would run the Waffling group again, what do you think?

It has been a really insane month for me, too, in a good way. I don't remember if I shared at all at the end of February, but I have three half sisters from my dad's first marriage. My brother and I have tried to find them for the last 40 years. My aunt always thought it was best if we did not. We never agreed, but we could not get any information out of her and when she died there was no additional information in her flat.

I have tried to find information through a combination of Ancestry and Facebook. Their names were quite common and I never found anything particularly useful. I searched through name and address sites, googled them and went through a fresh frenzy of looking every year or two.

I was contacted on Ancestry by a person doing research for a young lady who was a previously unknown daughter of a someone in my tree. He died recently and he showed up on her search. I mentioned when chatting her aunt that I would give anything to find my sisters and within 24 hours she had come up with a Facebook account for one of them. I have spent the last few days catching up on all the years of our lives they were apart.

I have chatted for hours and hours and the discussions have been amazing. They look wonderful, I have enjoyed going through their Facebook accounts and I am loving our conversations. I will say it is hours out of every day catching up. I am sure it will calm down, but for now it is a whirlwind of information. I won't scrap much on them until I have their permission. I did this years ago and redid it with an updated kit. I like this one more...

How exciting!!!!! My grandma has an entirely different family that she knew nothing about that we found out when she was in her late 80's and very sick. She idolized her father, and telling her that he abandoned a wife and 7 kids would have crushed her. I often second guess that decision, but she didn't know about them. If she had, I would have insisted my Mom tell her.

That's super exciting, Lynnie! I just love it when people have family history breakthroughs. :)

We have a family history puzzle with my husband's family. His great-grandfather did not tell anyone about the family he came from. Not his parents, nothing. And anyone who did know, died before telling anyone. So they are making educated guesses, hiring professional genealogists, etc. It sucks. So I love it when others have success!

I’m excited I was one of the winners for Survivor guessing where it is. Lynnie will you be well enough to run the alliance?

Hi everyone,

I scolled through the posts to catch up. It has been a busy February with work, Mom and many house repairs. We had our electrical panel blow and we were without power to half our house which included the 220 wattage. That meant that we had no stove or dryer so I had to borrow electrical appliances from my son to cook. It is all fixed now but at the end of the month we are having the rest of our wiring updated that will take 5 or 6 days but they said they do one room at a time so it will be less intruasive. Mom is still having issues with her leg and her mobility is limited. She has had her lifeline go off a few times in the night and now she keeps taking it off to sleep. She has already had an incident where she got up in the night to go to the bathroom and forgot to put it on and almost fell. We have stresed to her that she MUST NOT take it off, so hopefully she will remember, we are so worried. MY SIL is not well and my sister and I are trading off days to visit her everyday. Very tiring but we want to make sure she is safe.

I signed up for Survivor and looking forward to it. Lately I have been making paper dolls with the Julie Nutting doll line. Love playing with dolls, just like when I was a kid. I joined an on-line group on FB where you exchange cards or tags every month with a different theme. I am the only Canadian participant so it is kinda nice to receive US mail.

I am on FB but I do not post much, just keep up with friends and family on the private chats. I have alot of friends from my school years that live out of province so it is always nice to keep in touch with them. Our school group here in my hometown were supposed to get to gether for a 60's weekend (we are all celebrating our 60th in 2021 with the exception of a couple who celebrated last year). Not sure if we will do anything this year due to the pandemic but maybe if the vaccine is a go here soon in our age group then we could do a weekend cabin trip.

Our little "Hana" is keeping us busy with her kitten antics...she is so adorable.

Lockdown restrictions have just been lessened today, first since November. Missed celebrating my son's 35th and hubby's birthday so hopefully we will be able to get together some time in the next week or so for dinner.

Well that's all for me, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

YaY Lynnie for the Ancestry information. I still work on mine, and my husbands. Such a dead end on my father's paternal side. It's like no one ever really existed.

It's been a whilwind week. Had College Hunks break a pool table to take out along with a couch and old washer and dryer. Still had packing to do in dining room China cabinet when husband said contractors are coming Monday to paint two bedrooms. Shifted focus to finish packing those rooms and moved furniture into living room for now. Contacted a place that would pick up donations we have been gathering the last couple of months. 15 bags (clothes, linens, kitchen stuff) 3 wheel chairs, 1 rollater and canes and grabbers... almost a full room of stuff going out next week. Kitchen cabinets are being delivered on March 29.

Hope I have time to scrap for this contest!
