Lynnie, your life sounds so busy. Are your Gimp classes online ones?

Ken and I had a good day yesterday to celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary. Our area of the state came out of lockdown on Saturday so for our Anniversary lunch we walked around to one of our local cafes and bought hamburgers which we enjoyed by the river. It was a nice spring day. It is soon school holidays so the two oldest grandchildren will be coming to stay with us for two nights. I cannot handle to come stay, the whole family of 4 children - our house is small and we get more one on one time when we do two at a time.

Rae, we have bought clippers so I can have a try at cutting my Ken's hair. I am a little nervous about it but not much can go wrong ( I hope! ).

Olivia, I understand what you are saying about designing and still doing your own scrapbooking. That is why when I had a go at selling my designs and the store I sold at closed I did not pursue another store as I came to realise the design work was taking up too much of my memory keeping time.

Lynnie, you continue to amaze me with everything you've gone through and your resilience. I'd like to be there, but I'm not yet. Keep shining!

So far, my son is still getting married this month. Eren and I have our dresses, and that's about all we've been able to contribute toward the effort, because we are not there. It's frustrating- I feel like I should be doing more. Her family is taking care of most everything and it feels unfair to them. And we will be there less than a day because of work and school. So crazy!

Ane, what date is your Son's wedding? we celebrated our anniversary on the 12th and my sister and brother-in-law celebrate theirs on the 24th.

Finally got the inspection of electrical and plumbing done. Now they can close the walls, which they started today. Windows were changed in kitchen and on the porch. When inspector was by, we asked about expanding our driveway. He said there is no record of us having a driveway on that side of the house. So we have to go set up a meeting at town hall to see what they can do for us. (Hope we are not fined for having it there without having it on record. My father was always one to cut corners and I hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the a##.) We can really use the extra parking spots with our tenants having two cars and with Molly driving a car now as well.
Hopefully we'll get our appliances delivered a week from this Thursday. I'm hopeful but optimistic that the contractors will be ready by then. They seem to run later than what they've been saying for a few weeks now.

Anne-Marie, congrats on being a Sugar Cookie (and now I am hungry for something sweet... ha)
Ane, good luck with the wedding. So glad you'll be able to be there for the event.
Lily Ann, hope the remodel will continue to move forward smoothly! Here's for no surprises!

I'm spending most of this week driving back and forth across the state of Kansas. It's our state fair and we have a variety of sponsorships and events. Luckily, the weather has been fantastic and the hubster and I got to have a lovely date night at the fair on Sunday night. I'm able to get lots of photos for future scrapbook pages, even if I'm not getting a full night's sleep. Ha.

Congrats on being a Sugar Cookie again, Anne-Marie!

Not much happening this week, but DSD and next month's Buffet are on my mind.
I've also been participating in Scraptember/30 Days of Sketches (a couple YouTuber gals host it). It's been fun catching up, I'm just a week behind now.

Hey everyone, I read but don't always comment.

Let me see: Alberta the province I live in was "open for summer" which has led to the highest covid rates in all of Canada, something like add all the other places together and we still have more. Been staying close to home when we can.
Alexis was scheduled for day surgery to get her wisdom teeth out under general anethesia but the press says all day surgeries in Edmonton are cancelled next week. We haven't been called yet though, so maybe it might be a go. Its been cancelled twice already due to covid.
Austin is busy doing his grade 12 classes online, and seems to be enjoying them.
Today would have been my wonderful mother in laws birthday. and tomorrow is the kids Dads birthday.
There is an outbreak of covid at my moms long term care facility among patients. first one since this all began, staff has had it before but not the residents.
I have been trying to walk more daily but my feet kill me. Plantar facilitis or some such thing, or blisters, or just foot pain. My gait and balance are so unsteady.
keeping you all in my thoughts.

Sherri, I hope Alexis can have her surgery and that it all goes well and she does not have too much pain. Brings back memories of my daughter when she had hers out.
Hope you are able to do the walking you desire to do with little pain. I think my husband has suffered with plantar facilitis for which he was given some exercises and now rarely complains. Says anytime he feels pain, he does his exercise and it comes good.

Anne-marie can you ask him what he does? I was told to roll a towel with my toes. It doesn’t seem to help, and seeing as I can’t move my left toes is kind of ridiculous to try.

alberta called an emergency today in province due to covid numbers and icu beds being overwhelmed. Restrictions in place on the 16th and more on 20th

No. They were during lockdown, but our facilities have opened up. We have to mask and are social distanced. It is hard teaching in a mask! I am glad I only have to do it once a week.

I am doing a happy dance!..... I am a Sugar Cookie again.

Congratulations. I just resigned, temporarily. I had too much going on. I am on 'leave' from CT also.

Lynnie, you continue to amaze me with everything you've gone through and your resilience. I'd like to be there, but I'm not yet. Keep shining!

Not really, I just plod along :)

Show your appreciation to his parents and they will love you :) Folks know that distance is an issue when planning a wedding. They are probably grateful to be able to help.

Congratulations on the approvals! The driveway sounds like a nuisance. We had that when we were putting our windows in. The association did not have a record of a window in our bathroom. Apparently it was added after our condo was built. We had to go through a hearing to have it reviewed. Fortunately, they let us off and added it to the plans for next time something comes up.

It sounds wonderful - what a trip! Fair pictures are always so much fun, too.

Plantar fasciitis is painful. If you can manage the towel thing, it does help. It works the right muscles in the foot. It does hurt to do it though.

That is worrisome about your mum.

And poor Alexis. She needs her surgeries when she can get them, not waiting and waiting.

Good that Austin is enjoying his classes.

I am still babysitting. The full-time sitting ends on Sunday, but I will still watch him every Saturday. I have had such a lovely time with Bruce, he is a little doll.

Daughter Karen has been working music festivals. She worked the Electric Zoo in New York, now she is working one locally and then will head to the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. That starts October 22nd, but she has to be there a week ahead of time. Unfortunately there was a cluster of cases associated with the NY festival. She has to get tested.

Her boyfriend, Jon, is continuing drumming for P.O.D. It means he is not home to take care of the 'farm,' so I continue to take care of the animals and veggie garden while Karen and Jon are out. Jon is living his dream, though.

I stayed the night at my son's this morning so I could do the farm chores before I came home to take my mum to the doc. It worked out well. I might have to stay over Saturday night too. I will be so glad when the festivals are done and I can relax a little.

My sister, Sue, contact me today to let me know that sister, Linda's funeral will be September 27th. We can't get to England to be there, I wish we could, but we might be able to attend via streaming.

Sherri, I saw that your province is on the news, crazy! They should have left some restrictions on so it wouldn't have got so bad again, same with Saskatchewan. Here at home there are so many anti-vax protesters hassling the nurses and Dr's that are struggling to save lives and keep their sanity. We are getting into a crisis with our nurse shortage, so many quit and you see on the news everyday the shortages. How can the nurses help anyone anymore when they are sleep deprived, family starved and dying for a few minutes to think of themselves and then they have to deal with being hassled coming and going from work.

Hoping things go well with Alexis's surgery too.

Lynnie, You do seem busier than most folks your age and there you are taking care of the farm! What a fun time with Bruce too, I am sure the time is precious!

Anne-Marie, congrats on the Sugar Cookie position, we all love the sweet comments.

Ane, I bet you can't wait for the wedding, sounds exciting. I know what you mean with the girl's parents doing most of the work, we had that too. I think it comes with the territory. My DIL did invite me to all the mother-daughter things with her Mom since I do not have any daughters, that was so sweet of them and I enjoyed the fun girl things too.

Lily-Ann, Sounds like your place has been buzzing for awhile now, almost done and then you can sit back and enjoy your new place.

Breoni, I love state fairs but unfortunately we have not had any for 2 years due to the pandemic. But, I do have some older pics that I should scrap.

Here at home...my washing machine broke today and I had to fight to get the door open on a front loader and the water gushed everywhere...had to wring out all the clothes and take them to my Mom's to rewash as they were all over the basement floor. Uggg, washer shopping tomorrow but on the bright side, I have a 3 day weekend and the weather is going to be nice.

Karen, I think scrapping old state fair photos is a great idea. Honestly, our state fair doesn't change that much and I would be hard pressed to identify the year based on the pics of the fair. Ha. Most years, they have some "new" fair food that we'll try. This year was Krispy Kreme hot dogs... I took a hard pass on that one. Yuck! LOL!!!

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)

Wish me luck... I'm scheduled to take photos of our local high school dance team. The coach was so wonderful to my daughter when she was in high school and a member of the dance team, so now I will take photos any year the coach asks me to! Ha. However, when my daughter was on the dance team, there were only 9 girls and I knew most of them. Now, there are ... gulp... 19 girls! And I don't know any of them. Whooo! At least the coach is really good about getting the girls into formation! :)

Sherri, I talked to my husband and he said the thing he found that worked the best was a shoe insert - orthotics. He showed me it and it actually has on the bottom of it "for plantar fascitis". Hopefully you can buy them where you live.

Ginger has given me permission.... Starting next month I am going to host a "motivators group" over in the Healthy Kitchen. I plan to call us the "Spicy Motivators". It will be a thread where those who want to be encouraged or be an encourager to share their journey of ...... exercising more or dieting or needing motivation to achieve scrapbooking goals or even need motivation to cook more home cooked meals ..... whatever anyone thinks they need encouragement with.

I personally will be seeking motivation to exercise more.

I am thinking I might do up a chart to have at the start of the thread and those who sign up I will add their names to the chart and as each week progresses and someone shares that they have achieved a goal they set for themselves a mark will be added to the chart. I think doing it daily might be too much.

I am hoping some of you other Wafflers will join me.

I am busy all the time, Karen. I often wonder how I had time to work. I need a bit of a rest, though. I am tired of the hour drive up to the farm and back to take care of everything. I want my daughter to be back so I don't have to deal with it all. She gets back on 22nd, so I have to do it until then.

My son and his wife are putting away the chickens at night and feeding the fish. I get there in the morning, let the chickens out, feed them, make sure the have sufficient water and gather the eggs. Then I feed the fish and make sure their tank is topped up. It is a salt water tank so there are special filters and they have to be fed frozen shrimp. I have to dissolve the shrimp in the tank, which takes a little bit. I fill up the dog water and food bowls and bring her in. (she likes to be outside, so it is tricky getting her in out of the heat!). Then I have to water the veggies, etc. Everything has a different amount of time to water and there are a lot of different things. It all takes about an hour.

Today I had to prep for my class tomorrow too, and I had a special session with one of my students who is not that proficient with PC basics. She needed a little extra help to get going. She seems okay now, though.

Tomorrow I have the farm, lunch with my old work friends and the GIMP class I teach.
Tuesday I have the farm and my Daughters of the British Empire meeting. I am the regent (president), so I have to be prepared.

I haven't even looked at the rest of the week! :)

It is all stuff I enjoy doing, so time just flies by. I look forward to putting up my feet and having a few hours to clean house, haha. It is a bit of a mess.

Lynnie - so much for you to do (as always). The farm life sounds like fun but so much work. Fresh eggs would sure be great. A few more days and you can get back to your regular schedule again.

I'm scrapping, doing desk work, catching up on "Queen Sugar" and playing/training with the dogs...my typical day.

I'm back on Weight Watchers (I was a lifetime member after losing the weight about 12 years ago). Then I slowly started gaining again and went to keto/paleo for about 5 years where I dropped all the weight but I was concerned about the health risk of eating that way forever, especially as I'm in my 60's now so I stopped the low carb last yr and focused on mostly a plant based/vegetarian style of eating. I gained about 15 lbs during COVID and have lost some of that but need a bit of help to lose the rest. I read that WW has different plans, one that is well suited for my plant based eating so with a good discount, I joined over the wkend. I love it. The app is easy to use, I don't have to track/measure much at all and in about 5 min can figure out my food for the day and leave points for extras I might want later.

Not much else happening with me right now. I've been out walking a lot with the dogs and want to go to a new physio soon to learn what weight lifting routine I can do that won't bugger up any back any more than it is. I do planks/bridges/superman exercises every day but want to do more. I have to be careful though b/c of the arthritis/bulging disks in my back. I miss jogging and need to find something else to enjoy other than just walking. I want to do the phsyio before hubs retires at the end of the year as I don't know if our new medical at that time will still cover some physio visits so I want to use up the coverage before it runs out (the same with eyeglass coverage, need to use that up too).

Oooh... what a great idea! Looking forward to this! :)

Sherri messaged me late last night and Alexis WILL have her oral surgery today in Edmonton. They were very surprised that it was scheduled to go ahead.

They're both VERY NERVOUS, for they're personal health reasons, so any additional PRAYERS you have in you would be very much appreciated!!!

Carla, thank you for passing on Sherri's messages to you and I hope that Alexis has come through the procedure well.

Ane, time is getting close for that wedding !

Ginger has given me permission to host another challenge in the Random Challenge section starting next month. The Art Journal will stay as it is - an ongoing challenge. My new challenge involves a template.

Lots of progress on the house.
Finally have a working bathroom upstairs so I don't have to go downstairs in middle of the night. Still have some things to finish up but I have a bathroom!!!
Kitchen floor is all tiled. Kitchen cabinets are installed! They put the doors on yesterday. They still have to put on the hardware. We ordered the granite top on Saturday. They have to come and sketch it out so they can cut it at the "yard".
Appliances are coming tomorrow!!!
The windows were changed in the kitchen and the small side windows were changed on the porch. The porch was primed today as well.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

OMGOSH LilyAnn! Sounds like things are coming along quickly! How wonderful for you not to have to go downstairs in the middle of the night. And your kitchen!!! That must be a real thrill. Can't wait to see pix.
