How cool that you got to have dinner with Sylfie while she was nearby.

As for me, it has been pretty crazy around here with the new baby and with working and with the kids. Oliver is doing well, sleeping and growing. The pups are doing great following their surgery. And, the kids are still doing pretty good too, both are excelling with their online education for this semester. Kathryn is working three days a week and Paul has taken to mowing lawns while he can to try to earn money for a video game system that he wants.

Carla, I can't see it either. But it's really cool you two got to meet! :)

Dorann, I'm glad things are going relatively well for you. I think it's awesome when kids get jobs- it teaches them so much.

Me, I've had a painful weekend. Back to square 1 with this dumb abdominal pain. The pain medication only helps so much, but it's better to have it than not. Went shopping yesterday, then an afternoon and evening of college football, LOL. Today we got to go to church again, but it's the last time for at least a couple of weeks. Our county has had a rise in coronavirus cases. I also got a nap today, and another afternoon end evening of football. It's a good thing I like the sport! :)

Carla, I did see it on Facebook. It is a lovely picture. You should scrap it so we can all comment on it :)

Ane, I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I know what you mean about abdominal pain. I have had so many issues with the diverticulitis that left me unable to even stand up. I am feeling much better now. I wish you could find a solution. It took a healthy dose of antibiotics and I am back to normal. (well, sort of!). I wish they could find a solution for you.

Me... I did some scrapping today. It was lovely :)

It was so wonderful and relaxing- until I got a phone call about tomatoes. Lol!!

I am currently packing and feeling like I have NO CHANCE of getting all my stuff back with me. It's AMAZING how much it's possible to accumulate in a month when you came with nothing.... I am already convinced that I'll need to wear a few layers of layers onto the plane.

Carla, you both look beautiful. Definitely one for the scrapbooks!

What a day. I thought I would teach myself how to crochet. I followed the directions and did two blocks. They actually LOOK beautiful, but the gauge appears to be off. I redid them a few times, but they are still a little off. I am quite annoyed. I did work out how to do a single crochet and a double crochet. I will probably unpick them and try again. They do look very neat and even. I have no idea why the gauge should be so off.

The winds here are dreadful. Many of my former colleagues have been evacuated. Over 60,000 not too far from us. Two firefighters have been seriously injured. The fires here are small potatoes in the face of the fires in Northern California, but they are always more real when they are close to home. They are no longer a news story when your friends are being evacuated and your skies are glowing orange.

Sylfie, we always keep a spare suitcase for friends who come to stay. They always needs one, haha.

I am so glad you were able to meet up with Carla. It is so special when folks in the group meet each other :)

Lynnie - the gauge could be off from what the directions said for three different reasons. 1- different needle size, 2- different yard thickness and 3- the tension you used as compared to the tension the person used in the directions. No, I don't crochet any more. I used to as a kid but only made real simple things. I did a lot of reading though. Hope that helps some.

I spoke with dad today. He said he had a dream that someone died and than he died by someone slicing him with a thin wire. He said he didn't want to go to sleep because he's not going to wake up. He wanted me to go see him after work because he will not wake up in the morning, but I work from 9 to 9 on Monday. And I'd only be able to see him through a window anyway. When I said it would be too late he said OK. I'll see you tomorrow. He has been sounding so "off" lately. His responses to questions are not what is expected. When I asked him what he ate, he said about 10 feet which is about as far as he walked in therapy that day. When I asked if he ate today, he said my BIL brought him food last night but it was actually a few hours earlier.
I wonder if he is starting to have the "death dream callings," if there is such a thing.

Oh LilyAnn, that's so sad and scary for your dad and probably for you too. I don't know about such things, but I'll say extra prayers.

Don't know anything about crocheting anymore Lynnie, so I'm NO help. My hands won't hold a hook long enough to get anything of any consequence done.

Safe travels, Miss Sylfie! It was so wonderful meeting you.

Lynnie It's hook size and tension. You need to make a gauge swatch.

I crochet very loose, so I usually have to go down a size from what they say.

That is so scary for your dad.

I am using a kit where they supply the crochet needles, the yarn and the instructions, so I know I am using what i am supposed to be. no worries, I will practice until I get it right.

I might have to change the needle size. I made a swatch and couldn't really tell if what I was doing was right. It would really help if I had a friend who was sitting with me telling me if I was counting correctly, turning correctly, etc.

Hi everyone, I skimmed everyone's post and sounds like everyone has been busy.

Lynnie, I would love to learn to knit or crochet...keep it up!

Lily-Ann, so sorry to hear of your father, it really is hard to watch and be helpless to stop the aging process.

Rae, sorry to hear of your pain, my hubby too has arthritis and it is flaring up now that the colder weather has arrived.

Sylfie and Carla, so fun to meet up. Maybe one day!

Katherine, congrats on the 50th anniversary, I know I am a bit late.

Sherri, Hi, hope you are hanging in!

Ane, congrats on the new baby.

As for me, still busy with work, family and my taking care of Mom. On a deadline to get my Cuba book done as I prepaid. Maybe you have seen a few posts, loving them and can't wait to see them in print.

Take care and be safe everyone!

Please keep my dad in your prayers. He was taken to the emergency room from rehab today. He wasn't responding to stimuli, wasn't breathing well and probably has a urinary tract infection again. They think he might have had a seizure. They put him on a respirator.
I spoke to him on the phone yesterday. He still seemed to answer questions wrong or paused to think for a long moment before he answered, even if it wasn't an appropriate answer for the given question. I said I'd talk to him today. I called rehab with no answer. About 1/2 hour later my sister called to tell me he was in ICU.

LilyAnn, I am praying for your dad now. I am also praying for you. This has been such a rough year for everyone, you don't need this as well. All my love!

Hubby's birthday today :)

I hid cards all over the house for him, he loves getting cards. We went to the beach, had a few drinks and nachos, then walked up to this lovely place where you can sit and watch the ocean crash on the rocks. The sun was low in the sky and made a path across the water. We stopped at this lovely little shop called the Chocolate Soldier and bought some horribly expensive chocolates for my mum's birthday on Saturday, along with a beautiful china cup. My husband tossed in a few mermaid skeletons for good luck (he's odd!).

Then we came home and watched Rebecca. Not my favourite story, but it was his birthday and he has been desperate to see it. He is now watching the news to cheer himself up (he's very odd!)

I am going to craft tomorrow to cheer MYSELF up!

Cheers!

Hopefully by doing some holiday activities with my family I'll get away from my thoughts about my father.
He's back on the respirator and his kidneys are failing among other things. Prognosis is grim. It's hard not to post what's going on, on FB. I don't want to be bombarded with all the questions. I private message those that need to know.

Good evening ladies,

I am back in Switzerland, super jetlagged and settling back in. The tiniest Yorkie just tried to eat the nose of of the biggest one, I am not sure why she's being so aggressive with him, usually they're very good with each other. I haven't quite managed unpacking yet, but I have gotten bits and pieces liberated and put away. Maybe by the time the boy comes back from Italy I will have my house in order. Maybe.

I definitely need to try and empty out some clothing I will never wear again, but I am not sure if I have the energy to do that or not. Desire, yes, energy, haven't gotten there yet.

LilyAnn I am so sorry, that's such a rough situation to be in, I'm praying for you.

Glad you are safe and sound, Sylfie. That's a wonderful thing you did to take care of your grandmother. :)

I am going to visit my son, DIL, and grandbaby! They are struggling a little with her in the evening and I'm happy I can take her off of their hands for a bit. Things Covid-wise are a little scary there. People aren't following guidelines as they should, so hubby is a little nervous about sending me out, but I'm going to wear my mask everywhere I go, and I probably won't get out much, which is OK with me. I leave Wednesday morning and will be there the whole month. I won't be able to scrap but I'll check in here as much as I can. Not sure how everything is going to go, but I'm excited!

This weekend has been interesting. Spent a bit of time at an urgent care clinic yesterday morning for an infection. But I have antibiotics and am already feeling better. Had very few trick-or-treaters, which is OK. More candy for us! Had church at home this morning, followed by a nap (the extra hour always throws me off). SO a pretty good day so far. :)

Lily Ann... my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ane.... safe travels and I am sure you will enjoy all those baby cuddles.
