Scrappy Question #4 {What Draws You to a Kit?}

Do you choose a kit by theme or colour or designer or value or content or just because?

Tell me YOUR story

Colour attracts me firstly, sale prices attract me also (yikes, says my credit card..), I scrap off theme frequently but with a little great grandson, I do sometimes buy a themed kit to fit with his current interests and abilities. I have some favourite designers whose products I will look for and choose over others. The previews are sometimes a bit overwhelming to me so I look at the CT samples to get a better idea of what a kit contains.

Sales prices and pretty kits.
  • If I am in the shop, browsing, I always look to see what pages have been created using the elements.
  • I also find myself shopping for themes related to something I am working on!
  • Quite often I see a page in the gallery that I love and I get the kit.
  • Sometimes I love a designer and I check every time new kits are coming out to see if there is anything new

I do have a couple of designers that always rise to the top of my lists, so that is a huge factor. I also look at colors and theme. My eye is always drawn to kits that have unique items or "cool" elements (I'm a sucker for anything metallic or something that will add texture like gesso, torn paper strips, etc.).

Quite often I see a page in the gallery that I love and I get the kit.
Same, Lynnie, I so appreciate those members who always add the store links to the products they use and promise myself I will make a habit of doing that, I used to always do it but got lazy along the way and stopped doing it, I must try harder!!

I think my favorite way to shop for new kits is by clicking links from the gallery when I see a page I absolutely love! I also do plenty of just scrolling new releases and going by what visually draws me in. I have kits on most themes already, so I don't normally shop for a theme unless by chance it is something pretty rare - I know not too long I was looking for renaissance fair themed goodies because I shockingly didn't have anything like that.

My go-to is COLOR! The brighter, the better! But then it's by theme. What strikes me when I'm scrappin'. And I always look at the team layouts because they're always using something that I miss in the PV ads and I go, "DANG, I didn't see that in there! I MUST GET THIS collection!" LOL

I agree with those of you who said that color is a driving force in choosing a kit. If it is color scheme that I like it will catch my eye first and foremost.
The theme is also very important but it has to be in a good color scheme for me.
I also tend to lean towards certain designers too.
I will admit, and this isn't great news for designers, ;) the price is huge for me too. I don't think I have ever paid full price for a kit. I am always on the lookout for sales... the monthly Bake Sale is a fav of mine and often the $2 sales as well. If there is a freebie, I will often grab it or work toward a goal to earn a free kit.

@Kristi Martin I am also budget conscious Kristi, and our Aussie dollar has not been stacking up well against the US dollar these past years so a $2 kit costs me $3 and more depending on the exchange rate on the day. It's great that GS has so many fantastic sales, freebies and rewards isnt it.

I choose kits that help me tell my story in my travels. Travel kits are perfect and some designers have a lot of themed places I have visited. I also choose kits that tell my ancestor history. There is a lot of variety for everyday as well but I don't do a lot of that any longer but most are interchangeable.
