NEW Gallery Guidelines : Effective May 1, 2025

Oh, no....so there will no longer be any "Non-Ginger Scrap" layouts? I've posted all of my pages at Ginger Scraps as my "home" site. Now I'll have to find another Scrapbooking site to make my home. Very disappointed.
You need your own gallery site to keep your scraps in, I've been digi-scrapping since 2007, nobody from then is still around.
I have my own where I keep all my pages at, you could use any photo site you want. I use and recommend SmugMug, its a site geared to professional photographers, your content is backed up on 6 different servers, in 6 different locations. This safety is priceless to me. hugs

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out.

Question, @GingerScraps what about Etsy stuff? A lot of the people over there only have a "shop" name and when you DL the files they normally just 01, 02, 03 no name to credit, so would "Etsy" be ok? or no credit?
What is wanted to keep in line with the no shop name part of the rules? Thanks!!
I would consider that their "designer name" Just don't list or link "Etsy".

I use sometimes stuff from designers resources, and I just add in my credits something like "(product [paper, word art, etc]) from designers resources. I think you'd credit the same the etsy stuff, but without links to the store. No outside links are allowed. Please if you have some doubts don't hesitate to ask, just drop me a message, and I will be glad to help dear lady.

Read and understood. I just hope that my first layout since the change was done correctly! April Temp 2 #31. I don't like change, especially if it has to do with computers, etc!! LOL!

Read and understood. @GingerScraps I find it a bit difficult to accept that templates are only 15% as I use a lot of GS templates with kits from non-GS designers. Does this mean that I can't post these layouts in the GS Gallery.

To post in our gallery, we do ask that at least 50% of your layout uses products from GingerScraps designers. Templates from our designers count as 15% toward that total, so you’d just need to include a few additional GS products to meet the 50% requirement. You’re absolutely welcome to use products from outside GS too — just make sure your overall layout is 50% or more GS.

I totally understand that it might take a little getting used to, but I hope it feels manageable. We have such a wide variety of beautiful products in the shop — there’s truly something for every style!

The 50% rule is just our way of supporting both our amazing designers and the awesome community that makes GS so special.

@GingerScraps i make rectangular layouts. can i post 800 x 1000-sized layouts?
@lawyerlyn

You will have to adjust your sizing so that the longest side is 800 and not 1000.

This is what it says in the Rules.

  • All layouts must be 800x800 pixels or smaller. The industry standard is 600x600, but you can go up to 800x800 if desired.

thanks for the info, Chris. will do that from now on. :)

I was so pleased when I uploaded my layout this morning to find that I could include both of the designers whose creations I used by simply holding down the control key when choosing my categories. Well done @GingerScraps .

Read and understood. The only problem I have had is when a designer quits but I have enough kits from designers here that it should not be a problem. I try to always use 100% from the designers. I have been scrapping for many years but keep all my layouts on two separate hard drives as some of the sites I used are no longer operating. I keep them in both jpg and psd format

I have a question. I would like to start participating in the challenges and I prepared my first contribution but when I reduce it to 800 x 800 pixels making sure that the quality is low enough to make it 500 KB or less it’s so affects the quality of the picture it makes me not want to even post it advice? Am I doing it wrong?

Hi there! That is such a great question, the good news is you are not doing anything wrong! Reducing to 800 x 800 can feel like it really softens the image, especially if you are also lowering the quality slider too much when exporting.

Here are a few tips that usually help:
  • Try exporting at 600 x 600 but keep the quality around 70-80% (or higher if possible) instead of going super low. Most layouts will still come in under 500 KB without looking blurry. While we allow 800x800, you can make it smaller if needed.
  • Make sure you are exporting as JPEG (not PNG) since PNG files are much larger.
  • If you have lots of tiny text or very detailed elements, a little softness is normal when downsizing, but it should still look nice overall.
  • Always resize from your full-size layout when exporting - don’t resize multiple times.
You should absolutely post it! We would love to see your page, and I promise everyone is focusing on your creativity, not pixel perfection ❤️

If you want, tell me what program you are using and I can try to give step-by-step export settings. I use Photoshop and the "save for web" feature. It is great!

I did try so many things, and it never really worked. It just made my layout look smudged. I had to export all of my items out to PNGs and then place them in an Autodesk Sketchbook Document that was sized at 800 X 800. Then I had to remove some of my journaling to make it work. I posted to the Gallery, but now I am having trouble figuring out how to link it to the challenge.

Thank you for reponding.
