This is my dad & his best bud. They had a friendship & bond like no other.

Journaling:
A winter coat of plaid and flannel red,
A quiet corner where the shadows fall,
A gentle rocking chair where peace is bred,
The sweetest, softest anchor of them all.

You held him like a baby on his back,
Reclined together in the family room,
Two resting souls along a quiet track,
A shield against the winter and the gloom.

For TJ was a spirit born to love,
A burst of joy wrapped in a coat of white,
A gift sent down from somewhere up above,
To sit with you and make the heavy light.

And when the fog of time began to grow,
And precious memories began to part,
The things your fading mind could no longer know
Remained forever etched within your heart.

For even when the little paws were still,
And silent winters brought a deeper gray,
You’d ask for him against the quiet chill—
The love he gave could never fade away.

The mind forgets the dates, the names, the place,
But love remains, a deep and steady stream;
You kept the holding of him in your space,
Forever cradled in a beautiful dream.
