Good morning! Hubby's surgery went well and I was able to take him home the same day. I worked from home yesterday and helped Randy as needed, and made sure he took his pain meds at the correct time. I've been setting alarms at night to wake up and give him more meds so that he can stay ahead of the pain, but man... this girl is not used to getting up in the middle of the night and I'm tired. I'm still trying to get work projects done in between when Randy needs me. So that's been a fun challenge, as well. I'm glad to stay inside, though. It's sunny, but it's cold. And I think we are supposed to get rain tonight, so I'm thankful we can just be hermits for a couple of days.

Lynnie, yes take a much needed rest this holiday season.

Shana, Happy to hear Randy is doing well and you can catch up on your sleep.

I went out with my son for Japanese, we had a lovely dinner and much needed catch up. Today we are having our Christmas dinner at my elder son's home, in-laws are coming and there will be lots of fun and games.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

I am enjoying the holiday season, but it sure seems like I can hardly catch my breath!

I've had something every night this week except Monday. And some days too. Luckily next week my things are mostly day time, and not every day. It just seems like life is one big rush until Christmas, LOL! Why did I sign myself up for so much? That's what I'm wondering. I'll have to look inward for peace.

Hoping everyone isn't as busy as me (or Lynnie!) LOL! :)

.it was a beautiful and unusually nice night last night. We as a family went down to city hall park where it’s lit up for the season. So many people were out enjoying it. It is so nice to get out and see it.

Happy Friday, everyone!

It's cold and rainy this morning. I will be venturing out shortly for a much-needed haircut. Does anyone have anything fun planned for the weekend?

My weekend plans are more than I like to plan. I am the basketball book keeper for a local Lutheran High School and we have 2 games tonight and 1 tomorrow. I love doing it and look forward to basketball season every year. (As a side note, this is my 14th year keeping the books.) Other than than is church. I have a cold with an ear infection so the rest of my time will be spent resting from home. Enjoy your weekend!

Oh goodness, what am I not doing this weekend, LOL!

Tonight we are going to the "Garden Glow." Every year the Botanical Garden puts up Christmas lights. So pretty! Tomorrow we have a dress rehearsal for the Christmas concert, which is Sunday night. After that rehearsal, we're going to a basketball game, woo hoo! Sunday is church then the concert later.

Happy Monday, all! I got some scrapbooking done over the weekend, but still have soooo many more pages to do for our vacation earlier this year. I'm making progress, but I doubt I will get it done before the end of the year.

My holiday vacation begins on Friday, so this will be a short week at the office for me. And I am leaving early today and tomorrow to take Randy to his appointments. So I'll be working as fast as possible to cram 40+ hours of work into about 25 hours. Wish me luck.

Randy is doing well. He felt really good Friday, and then did a bunch of stuff and completely overdid it. So Saturday he settled back and slept a lot. I was so tired last night that I was in bed asleep by 8 p.m. And then... my dad decided to call at 9:30 p.m. just to catch up. Oh my. He's retired so he's apparently forgotten concepts like "work nights." I've been helping him plan our family holiday gathering, so that is something I'm looking forward to.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thought I'd check in after surviving the weekend! :) I'm glad your hubby is feeling better, Shana. Abdominal surgery is no joke, so you've got to take it easy for a while (something I learned after abdominal surgery, lol!).

This week is full of activities for us! Hubby and I went out yesterday, and tonight we're going to see Mannheim Steamroller! Tomorrow night we're going to see lights at the botanical garden. Friday day is the Nutcracker, and Saturday night is caroling with church friends. Whew! And we've been working on cookies like mad to give to our friends and neighbors on Sunday. We must be nuts!

What's everyone else doing this week?

Ane, that sounds like a fun week.

Today is my last work day for the rest of the year! Yay! However, tomorrow is already completely booked with errands, and I'm taking our daughter to meet with hubby's mom. She is a different character and has burned a lot of bridges with the family (before I married into it), but I still try to set it up so she has some sort of relationship with her granddaughter.

Honestly, I'm most looking forward to turning off my morning alarm and possibly getting caught up on some sleep. Ha.

Good morning ladies. It's been a crazy time with the cruise, selling the house, moving to another province and then being sick ever since moving 2.5 wks ago. I am on a steroid inhaler so hopefully my chest infection will clear soon. My stomach is messed up and a lot of foods (coffee especially) make me nauseous so I am drinking lots of ginger and peppermint tea with a daily probiotic. But I am slowly feeling better. We decided not to put up a tree or buy gifts this year. Instead we'll continue unpacking and taking time to relax to recover from being sick. My hubs was in for surgery last week (Crohn's related) and is home recovering now.

We are all happy in the new house and each morning I sit in my kitchen nook and watch the sunrise. The nook is full of oversized windows so the view is spectacular.

We watched the Survivor finale last night and enjoyed it. We are trying to find a few good movies to watch on Xmas Eve and Day. I will check Netflix later and also maybe amazon prime, not sure if they have holiday shows or not.

Shana - glad your hubs is feeling better. Enjoy your time off work over the holidays.

I'm going to get my peppermint tea now and carry on with my day. HAGD everyone.

Happy Saturday, all! I think today is one of those rare days where I don't have to leave the house for any reason! Here's hoping I get a lot of scrapbooking done today! :)

It is now Christmas Eve here Down Under. In the morning I will be going away for two nights and not have internet access so here my greeting to you all:

Merry Christmas Eve! I realize a lot of you are already celebrating Christmas Day .... Merry Christmas to all of you! We did not have anything going this weekend, so it has been a quiet time at home just enjoying being together and getting things ready to make a huge pot of seafood gumbo on Christmas Day. Everyone except my oldest Granddaughter and her husband will be here. I pray that you all have a wonderful day with good friends, family and good health.

Merry Xmas everyone. We are having a very quiet holiday. Drive around to see Xmas lights later and go to a movie (Hunger Games). Tomorrow dinner will be smoked BBQ platters that I picked up yesterday so only need to reheat. No gifts, no stress. A very different holiday than our usual.

We have a white Xmas which we are enjoying. The dogs love it too.

Happy Christmas to all of you, it is Christmas morning here right now. All is quiet for the morning allowing me to potter and finish off some preparations for Christmas evening meal when all the local family members will be here. I had a big fall off the esclator in a shopping centre back in November, dislocating my right shoulder and damaging several tendons and muscles, so limited in action rather. Thankfully my daughter and granddaughters called round yesterday and did all the prep for me, the daughter took care of prepping the first course...salads, ham and chicken, the girls took care of dessert...pavlova, trifle, chocolate mousse, icecream. It is only one meal but more planning and prep goes into it than any other family meal I host during the year. I am expecting there to be 10 around the table tonight...cannot wait to see little 2.5 year old great grandson getting the hang of Christmas this year.

Katherine, I feel for you and yours this year, there will be a big hole in the celebrations with the absence of your beloved husband at Christmas for the first time. My husband has been gone almost 6 years now and I still feel emotional at his loss especially on special days. I believe he is always with us in spirit.

We did a family dinner last week when my younger son came home but tomorrow we will do dinner again at my elder son's, ordering Chinese so no cooking or cleaning. I already dearly miss my Mom this year as we prepared for the holidays, the cooking, baking, decorating and wrapping presents...I MISS it all! My younger brother is in the hospital from a stroke a couple days ago, went to see him today and he is good spirits but we all miss Mom.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, take time to enjoy the little things that make your days brighter with whomever you share it with.

We had our Christmas yesterday with Nick, Lacy and Kolten. Anne decided that she would not allow us to have her kids with us for Christmas. She's still not speaking to Lacy, so we've decided to move on without them. It's incredibly sad, but it's the way it has to be. Other than that and the fact that our Vikings lost, the day was wonderful! Food and family gathered was amazing!

Fred and I will be chatting with Anne after the first of the year about financial arrangements and that will probably blow some things up even more, but she needs to grow up. We didn't want to do it before Christmas, hoping that she would let the kids spend the holiday with the family, but no. She's being selfish and narcissistic. Everything is always about her. She seems to be the only one who wants to continue this fight.

If you pray, please say some for our family.

Merry Christmas...

Huge hugs Carla, family fights are never good, but around the holidays they seem worse.

Yes, the holidays always seem to bring out the best and the worst in people. I've learned (and I'm teaching my daughter) to have good boundaries. For those family members who seem to thrive on drama, we meet them in a neutral place and we always have an escape plan when the BS gets too high. Carla, I'm sorry that you have a family member who is treating the kids as a pawn. Not cool. I had a brother do that with his kids, and I had to learn to just accept the loss and know I wouldn't see them. Now that they are adults with kids of their own, they've been reaching back out and we've been able to reestablish a relationship. So that's been lovely. But as I tell my daughter, I do not reward bad behavior, and I do not give into terrorist's demands. Now my family understands that I won't tolerate any BS and if people can't play nicely, they have to leave the sandbox. Ironically, instead of being bullied by those family members like when I was a kid, they now call me for advice and they always try to sway me to their side of the story. But I remain neutral. (Not my monkeys, not my circus). It can be challenging, but it's gotten easier over the years. Although, my older brother will still call me to say things like "You need to tell our dad..." or "You need to call our brother and tell him..." And I quite solidly say "I'm not going to do that." I'm happy to listen, but I refuse to get involved. And if I do have an issue, I've learned to call them out. This goes against how I was raised, especially in the Midwest where culturally we tend to be much more passive aggressive than just state things outright. But man, it's been freeing to be able to speak my mind when necessary.

This side of the family is gathering on Sunday... there will be 29 of us ranging from baby Gracie up to my Dad. We will have five littles (all under the age of 6), so that will be a blast. I've rented a meeting space at one of the hotels I use for trainings (where I know all the staff by name). I've hired a caterer to make the food. I made a Facebook events page and have posted the hotel information, the menu, and the schedule of events. I mailed hard-copy invitations with a QR code to the Facebook event page. They've all known about the event for the past six weeks. It looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate as there is no snow forecast for this weekend in any of the areas that my family members live or here. As long as everyone plays nicely, we will have a great time! I tried to make it as stress-free and easy for people to just show up... they don't have to bring a thing. I'm did include a White Elephant gift exchange for those who want to participate, but I'm bringing extra gifts just in case. I'm also planning to play "left, right, center" with all the nieces and nephews (and about half of them know the game and were excited to play). I'll bring the camera and the tripod and hopefully get some family photos. So... I've done all I can to set it up for success. We'll see how it goes. LOL!

I'm so grateful that this is a safe place to be able to share our thoughts and feelings. Thank you, ladies! And now, I better get back to catching up with my 2023 layouts before 2024 arrives! LOL!

Yay, I made it through another week! It's been slow in the evenings and going out to do stuff every day, but not in a rushed way. I don't have any plans for the weekend, but Eren has 2 friends coming over Sunday night. They'll probably stay up but we're going to bed at about 10 LOL.

Katherine, that is a sweet family photo. (((HUGS))) to you.

Jill, I'm glad you had a simple dinner prep. We just do steak and home fries for Christmas Eve and strawberries on waffles for Christmas morning, so simple for us too.

Karen, (((HUGS))) for you too. I hope your brother is feeling better.

Carla, praying for you and your family. (((HUGS)))

Sherri, always good to see you here! I hope you and yours are doing well too.

Shana, it sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun Sunday! Best of luck with your family gathering. :)

Happy New Year to everyone here....
I just had a look back and this year there is double the number of pages in the "waffling" thread than in 2022.
