I’ve never known my family as anything but distant, but location wise and emotionally. The only contact is me updating my sisters on moms health. They never ever contact me. It’s just me and my two kids. We had a ham bought for Canadian thanksgiving that never got cooked as I wasn’t up to it. I might defrost it and cook it this weekend. No turkey, it’s alwsys too much for just us.

‘’prayers or good thoughts for all those hurting. Holidays alwsys seem to make it so much more painful.

i had started back up with scrapping, but it’s much harder than I thought it would be. Mentally and physically. The posting online is the worst for me.

‘’any one looking for anything interesting for Black Friday? I’d like to find a grow op with lighting to grow the bunnies herbs all winter.

We don't have a lot of fun plans this week. Our usual traditions are watching the Macy's parade (our high school band is in it this year) and maybe some football. We also go to a movie on Black Friday. Not sure what we're going to choose though. We stay out of the typical Black Friday nonsense. Saturday (maybe part of Friday) I hope to get our Christmas decorations up.

Eren will come home after the 1 class they have in the afternoon tomorrow (the other 2 professors cancelled class but not this one) and we have some guests coming for dinner. Then we'll watch our college women's teams duke it out in Hawaii. Hubby is taking Wednesday off, so we'll most likely prepare some food then (he's going to brine the turkey).

Oh, also I have been nominated for LOTW. I'm shamelessly asking for votes if you haven't already- mine is titled Thanksgiving and has my family picture (my profile pic was from this photoshoot). If you don't like mine, please do vote for someone- there a lot of good choices HERE.

Shana, hoping for the best for hubby. I had my gall bladder removed just after I had my second son (34 years algo, yikes!). The attacks were horrible! It took 3 months to diagnosis me and was down 16 pounds due to not being able to eat.

No luck finding a fancy kit for my tea luncheon yet, anyone have any ideas?

Still painting the basement today, it needs to be done before Friday when they come to install the carpeting. I can't wait!!

Ane, I saw your family layout and it is beautifully put together, voted for you!!

Karen- I'd make sure the walls are dry before installing the carpet. You don't want dust and cut carpet pieces sticking to the wall.

I've decided to take off Wednesday day job because night job is closed for holiday. Husband and I are going over bridge to New Jersey to go to one of the last Disney stores that are still around.
I have Thursday and Friday to clean and organize and help prep food. We're have appetizers and baked meat ziti. I work Saturday till 5 so when I get home, everything will be ready.
Philip starts OT for his hand tomorrow. Pray that he starts feeling better. He's still complaining of pain on movement.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Lily Ann, yes the painting is done now and they are coming Thursday to install the carpeting. I can't wait to see how it all looks after being empty cement walls for 2 years from water damage.

Thanks for everyone's comments about hubby's health. STILL waiting for the dr to call (we've talked to some nurses, but only the dr can schedule the surgery). So now Randy is debating whether he is able to the wedding this weekend. I'm not excited about going out of state without him, but I also don't want to miss seeing some of the distant relatives. Ah the joys of the holiday season, right? LOL!

I'm looking forward to having coffee this afternoon with a friend, and I have a coffee date with a former intern tomorrow. So that will be lovely. It's still cold and rainy here... really good napping weather, so the coffee is needed this week!

I've been incognito since returning from my vacation. Busy catching up on work, life, scrapping...
Just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for each of you and this community of strong, fabulous women! aloha....

A blessed Thanksgiving to all of you. I have been extremely busy (as always), and today is no exception. Sunday, Son Steven and his wife Nessa took Rand and me to the Titanic Exhibit in Los Angeles for our birthdays (which were in October!). We had a fantastic time. It was a lovely experience with lots of scrapping pics. Saturday, Nessa's cousin's daughter had her second birthday party, "Tea for Two," and I took Bruce. It was such a wonderful day with my grandson. Nessa was supposed to bring baby Scarlett, but she worked late, so I drove Bruce back home. That was unfortunate since the party was right by my house, and I would have loved to go home.

Anyway, it has been a busy time! Cheers to all.

May those celebrating Thanksgiving - have safe travels if travelling and wonderful times with family and friends.

I want you to know that I read all the post and wish the best for each of you. I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be at my family in washington this year and hopefully it will be good. I might struggle a little but with family sharing I should be okay. Last year it was the last major holiday I spent with family and my husband except for my birthday. He will be missed but I plan on having it a good holiday.
Bless all of you this season.

I voted for you Ane, I made the initial BB nomination and I always make a point of voting for the LO I nominate. You're in front at this moment. Good luck.

Happy Thanksgiving, Upovers. May you spend it surrounded by those you love. I think it is such a special celebration. We don't do it here downunder but the retailers are certainly getting into the Black Friday vibe.

Well... yesterday was pretty nice. Nick called Anne and asked if the littles could spend the day with us and she said yes and even brought them down. She didn't stay, but that was okay. So, "everyone" was there except Anne and THAT was okay. Much more important for the grandkids to have "normal". Anne will have to learn to grow up herself. smh.

Hope y'all had a great holiday and are relaxing today.

We had a nice, lazy holiday. Except for me waking at 5:30 am, I wouldn't change a thing about it (I'm one of those weird people who need 9 hours of sleep to function well). I got up at 6:30 and did a few things before getting started on my pies (I accidentally doubled the dough!). Then I got the cranberry sauce done, and my part was done before noon. The turkey went on the grill at about noon and we ate about 4:30. Besides my contribution to the food, I didn't do much. It kinda felt weird, having free time on Thanksgiving. We were supposed to have one of Eren's friends over, but she fell ill Wed. night.

So all in all, it was a good day (I slept until 7:30 today, almost 9 hours, lol). :) I hope everyone has a great weekend!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We got a cooked turkey, stuffing, gravy, and mashed from Sprouts. I cooked extra mashed potatoes, tons of veggies, and homemade vegan chicken. The vegan chicken was for daughter Karen and her boyfriend, Jon. They are both vegan (well, Karen is mostly vegan!). Buying it at the store is expensive, so I thought I would make some homemade. Karen and Jon were so excited that I had found a recipe, and they loved it. it is cheaper than buying it, which they love.

I got TONS of great pictures at Thanksgiving. Grandson Bruce was really good for pictures. In the past, he was always trying to get away, or he was crying or hiding in his mum's shoulder.

Today, we are taking down Autumn and putting up Christmas. We started the day with a toasty hot bowl of oatmeal. As soon as hubby is done watching football, we will finish packing up autumn (I already took it all down) and put up Christmas.

We had a quiet Thanksgiving here too. I spent two days cooking so as not to be so overwhelmed on one day and it worked out perfectly. Dinner was done right at 2:00 as my kids arrived. Dinner went well except for the dessert got burnt so no dessert. We were so full it didn't really matter. The kids (my adult kids mind you) decorated the tree and now I'm ready for Christmas.

I'm so glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Happy Saturday! Thanksgiving was a very low key affair for us this year, which was just fine by us. Randy is still fighting the gall bladder issues, so he chilled out on the sofa. I made us some enchiladas and sugar-free butterscotch pudding. We watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and just relaxed. Yesterday, the girl child came over (I may need to get a new nickname for her since she's nearly 25 years old). Ha. Her current boyfriend recharges by being alone, and that is a foreign concept to her.... she reads so much into the situation and makes wild assumptions. She finally has started to call and ask if she's being overly dramatic... and the answer (so far) has always been a resounding YES!!! LOL! It was good to spend time with her yesterday for a couple of hours and do some online shopping for last-minute gifts. My Dad and the person he married drove through and wanted to stop to see the venue I've rented for our family Christmas gathering next month. It was the first time I went outside and brrrr.... was it cold! Randy was actually feeling better, but then he completely over did it and was in a lot of pain last night. So back to the sofa for him. I got all the Christmas presents wrapped and started a new K-drama.

Today is going to be fun as long as Mother Nature cooperates. We're all heading to Nebraska for my nephew's wedding. Today is also his birthday, so he should never forget his anniversary. Ha. I've been asked by the other family members to take their Christmas photo before the wedding since we'll all be dressed up. But it's supposed to be bitter cold and snowing, so we'll see what happens. We will have all of the extended family (I think I counted 28 of us)... EXCEPT the youngest nephew. He's currently on a cruise!!!! At the age of 15!!! His buddy had a birthday and my nephew was invited to go with his buddy's family on the trip. So I can't blame him for not being there. We will plan to head back yet tonight.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! :)

I'd like to say "thank you!" to all you ladies who helped me win LOTW! I know I don't say much, but I am truly grateful for you and count you among my friends. :)

I had a pretty good weekend, though not as calm as I'd have liked, since we did so much on Saturday. Someone remind me not to drink caffeine before a game of any type I care about, LOL!

Have a great week everyone!!!

Congrats on EARNING LOTW, Ane!

How's everyone's week going? My emails have been flooded with companies advertising all of their Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales! Holy moly!! We've picked up a few things, but we make it a point to set a budget and stick to it.

We attended my nephew's wedding on Saturday. The colors of the wedding were black, white, and tan. Apparently, the bride didn't like color. Oh my. It was a huge affair... they had 11 bridesmaids, 11 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and 5 ring bearers. The ring bearers were all little kids, and they were adorable. We didn't stay too long after the ceremony as the roads were awful with winter storms. It was a little scary coming home, but we made it safely.

Hubby is FINALLY scheduled to get his gall bladder removed on Dec. 12. So hopefully he'll start to feel better after that. This week / weekend, we have FOUR holiday events with family and friends (and we are hosting two of them). So I'm not sure if he'll be able to do them all. Poor guy.

I'm pretty much ready for the season... we don't go overboard but we have a couple of fun traditions. We used to be responsible for filling the kids' stockings. But as they got older, we mixed it up. For a couple of years, we did the cling-wrap ball game (small trinkets, cash, candy, etc. are wrapped up in cling wrap. Each kid takes a turn unwrapping the ball as best they can and whatever gifts they uncover are theirs to keep. Turns last until the next kid in line rolls doubles on a dice. The game goes VERY fast). Last year, we switched to a cup game where we have a board that we've glued on red solo cups. Each cup has gift cards, candy, small toys, etc. and then each cup is covered with tissue paper. Each kid gets to take a turn "punching" through the tissue of one cup per turn. So they have no idea what they might get. I have this year's cups all filled... some cups just have a pack of gum, a couple have nice gift cards... so it's fun to see them try to strategize which cup to open on their turn. Each kid gets 3-4 turns. Then... after all the cups are open... that's when the cousins start negotiations and trades! That's almost as fun to watch as the game itself! LOL!

That sounds like a really neat game Shana. I saw something similiar on you tube last year, but it was mugs upside down over the items. The prizes were cash, gift cards, small candy like a chocolate, tic tacs etc.

.. they had 11 bridesmaids, 11 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and 5 ring bearers.
Oh my goodness that's huge. How do you have five ring bearers? Surely you only need two. Was it multiple weddings? Or multiple rings per wedding? Big rings that were too heavy for one little person to carry? I can't imagine such a big wedding (or the bill that would go with it).

Juila!! Ha... you are cracking me up!!! Yes, the wedding was huge (the church had to have an overflow room, and they also live-streamed the event). The reception afterward was set up for 750 people. Let's just say my brother (groom's father) was always the "big fish" in that "small pond" and he has no problem going into debt to show off. *shaking my head*

When Randy and I got married, we exchanged vows on a beach with a handful of friends and family. Nice. Simple.

Ginger said last week that there was a problem, but I was able to log in OK every day since. Hmm.

Yes, we are having a database issue. We are working on it, I’m not sure how long it will take to fix, hopefully not too much longer.
If you get an error page, just wait a bit and try again. The longest it has been fully down is about 40 minutes, then it will work for a bit and then crash again.
Send prayers to the tech gods that is it fixed soon! lol
