My husband's 70th birthday was a huge success. It was just the family and one of his friends, but we had a lovely time.

The video slide show was spectacular. It was over an hour long, and I had insisted he would not make everyone sit and watch it exclusively because they might get bored. Folks watched it and loved it. They were laughing at the pictures we had chosen. Some were pretty funny. I made homemade Cornish pasties. My cousin has a fantastic recipe blog called "Kitchen Sanctuary." She is a fabulous cook, and I used her recipe for the first time. This will be my go-to recipe forever. I made vegan pasties for my daughter and her boyfriend. I had baked a pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. We had 70 candles on the cake and a fire blanket just in case haha.

My husband and his friend, plus my two sons, belong to an organization called "The Order!" It is just the four of them; they have no particular purpose. They have a secret handshake and laugh a lot. They have assigned themselves persona animals, and this year, they wore animal/bird heads. It was hilarious. I am so glad I get to scrap these. They are going to be beyond explanation.

My son, James, had flown out to surprise Rand, so he was over the moon at the party. It was everything he expected and more.

Today, James is sleeping REALLY late. He does not handle time change (between here and England) well!
 
Your post is a very pretty number Lynnie, 1111. This thread is on page 112, what a shame your post didnt land on page 111, that would have been most satisfying...I have a thing for numbers:) The birthday party sounds like such fun...the "Order" story made me laugh. Looking forward to the resulting LOs...Youve probably done them already knowing you. OK so now it is slow down time, OK?
 
Today was definitely a rest day of a sort.

IT IS MY BIRTHDAY! YAY, 69 YEARS OLD!!

My husband and all the kids were at my youngest son, Steven's. When I got there, Bruce was sick and cranky, Scarlett wouldn't stop crying, and Steven could not get her to take a nap. I managed to get Scarlett to sleep, cheered Bruce up a little, did the dishes, sterilized some baby bottles, and folded two loads of laundry. Steven thinks I am AWESOME, and I lap it up!

Steven bought us all Mexican food for a LOVELY lunch, and we had such a lovely time.

I came home at about six, did some grocery shopping, and put my feet up all evening.

I know it doesn't sound like a lovely birthday, but it was. I got to be a nana all day and make my kids happy. That makes my heart happy :)
 
Happy Birthday Lynnie!! Birthdays spent with loved ones are special no matter what activities take place...hugs.
 
Lynnie, Glad your party was a blast. Happy Birthday to you again as well. Now that the celebrating is done, sit down and have a wee spot of tea and relax!
 
I know there is probably a thread for this, but how do you actually change your profile photo, I can't seem to do it... I go to customize my profile, but I don't see the option.

Mika, If you to to Settings at the top of the page, you will find "Edit Profile Picture" down the side on your left. I hope that helps.

I always look at this chat first thing in the morning before heading to work so I don't have time right now, but I had the WORST time figuring it out too when I first started. I'll try to remember to come back later and send you a message and walk you through what helped me out. It's really quite simple once you take a couple "trick" steps. Don't give up. We'll get you there.

How was everyone's Halloween, how many treaters, or maybe you went to a party? We had 29 this year, around the norm for us since we live in an older neighborhood so there are not as many kids. We have soooo many treats left, guess hubby will have to eat them.

We don't enjoy Halloween and truth be told I don't live a neighborhood that's conducive to walking so we don't see anyone. I do know one of my friends had more than 1000 kids!!
 
Our street doesn't have a lot of littles, so we get only a handful of doorbell rings. This was the least amount we've had since we lived here. Luckily Hubby is generous with the candy and we don't have a ton left. We watched Hocus Pocus 1 & 2 while we waited. Pretty fun movies. I enjoy Halloween and usually decorate the porch up a bit, but this year I only put out the carved pumpkins.

DJ: WOW, 1000 kids or is that a misprint? I can't imagine that many and the cost of treats these days...what does she hand out?

Not a misprint! Total count from his FB post is 1063. I'm not sure what he hands out but I know there are several neighborhoods that do see those kinds of numbers. It's just crazy!

Karen - we normally have between 400-700 kids trick-or-treat in our neighborhood (We live in a town of 600, but we get kids from all the surrounding communities). But this year, I'm out all week for work so I spent Halloween at a very long, very dry business dinner (three hours for dinner is 2.5 hours too long). I called hubby to see how many kids came by, but he ended up being a hermit that night and turned off the lights since I wasn't there. Poor guy.

My presentation should wrap up by 3 p.m. today, and then it's about a three hour drive back home. So I get to be in my own bed tonight. Yay! Hope everyone is having a great day!
 
Hi all, Alexis comes home tomorrow, it seems like she has been gone forever.
I am watching this Netflix show called The Days its about the nuclear plant in Japan after the tsuamni much like the special done about Chernobyl a while back. Its been absorbing.
I found a set of books to read on kindle unlimited that are all scuba diving in the Carribean islands and as much as I am loving them (i have dove some of the places in the books) knowing I can't dive anymore is bitter sweet. Still struggling to read and track across pages. But I am getting there. One day right?
 
Hi ladies! I'm home finally and need a day or so to recoup. I had a fantastic time on our cruise and we were on excursions most days. I have never walked so much in my life, some excursions were 8 hrs long. I loved everything about our trip but really loved Corfu Greece, Barcelona Spain and Rome Italy. The food was amazing and the architecture took my breath away.

We pick up the dogs tomorrow (missed them so much and am excited to get to the kennel). I am loading photos and can't wait to start scrapping them but scrapping will be sporadic as I won't have a lot of time to play for the next 6-8 wks. We were contacted yesterday (thank goodness for internet on the airplane), were able to sign and seal the sale of our home and the purchase of a new home in Alberta. We will move in Dec 5th. It's going to be crazy busy around here and then we'll try to get settled quickly into the new place so we can enjoy Xmas in our new home.

Hope everyone is well. Lynnie - you had a birthday I think? Happy belated b-day!
 
We didn't have any trick-or-treaters. Being in a senior community, there are no children. I have often thought I should walk and knock on doors to see if I could get some free chocolate, but they probably wouldn't have any candy!! My son and daughter-in-law take Bruce to her cousin's neighbourhood. I have to say, though, they are a total failure at getting pictures. The cousin, Lilly, is pretty good about pictures. Even though there were decent group pictures, there were no great pictures of Steven, Nessa, and the kids. I am crushed, they were dressed as Lord of the Rings characters. Steven was Gandalf, Nessa was Legolas and the kids were Hobbits.

Sherri, it is good to see you scrapping. Hopefully, things will get easier for you. I am so glad Alexis is back and you have your girl with you. It sounds as though she had an amazing time.

Rae, I am so glad you are back. It sounds as though you had a phenomenal time. And to have sold your house, finally, and be moving in the holiday season. What an exciting life!!
 
Today was the start of an eventful weekend. I usually keep my weekends free except for church. I picked up a bushed of apples that are destined to be apple pie wine. We make our own wine and it usually turns out pretty good. I also attended a 3-on-3 basketball tournament put on by members of my church. It made for a fun afternoon for sure. I watched my Mizzou Tigers lose to Georgia and am now hanging out on the laptop.

Tomorrow is church, a fellowship lunch and voter's meeting. Then home to process the aforementioned bushel of apples. By this time tomorrow wine should be percolating and I'll have the pictures I need for a layout.

This has been a busy weekend. Friday night we helped clean our church building. Saturday Eren and I went to a huge craft fair. We picked up a lot of cool things, including some gifts for family. Then we came home and watched some anime. After that, we watched my college football team get destroyed (we turned it off after the first half) then watched our women's soccer team get destroyed. But the women's volleyball team won though! :)

Today we had church. I teach Sunday School to 11-13 year old kids, and that went ok today. Now we are in the middle of making applesauce and hope to get 2 batches done today. So I've been on my feet a lot, but it's been worth it. I'm looking forward to a quiet week with more applesauce. :)
 
I've had a busy weekend, too! I babysat Thursday and Friday, then left my son's house early on Saturday morning to help my friend fill out her online application for her British Passport. I did mine recently, so I knew what I had to do. I was able to fix the exposure on her photograph so it would pass inspection and scan her US passport so we could get a colour copy to send to England. She was so grateful. I put my feet up and scrapped in the afternoon. Today I had a lunch at the British Home in Sierra Madre, about an hour drive from here. I picked up a friend and we went there and just got back. I babysit again tomorrow. I need a WHOLE day off.
 
Hi ladies! I don't think I've ever commented here before, but I do lurk on occasion. I found out this week that my Nov 28 baby is coming this next weekend due to a surprise mild case of preeclampsia so my doctor scheduled an induction for Friday afternoon. I'm excited, nervous, hoping that this birth will be easier on me than my first, but looking forward to meeting Baby J soon! Now to finish all the last minute prep that I mastered at procrastinating. :)

DJ, I did see your wine layout, awesome way to use up those apples! My son & I made wine for awhile and loved it but it is a lot of work and buying a bottle here and there at the liquor store is much easier, LOL.

Ane, The Canadian football team here is doing better this year but I am more of hockey gal (our team is not doing well either).

Lynnie, I am sorry you did not get any photos from Halloween, I am sure Bruce had a great time but maybe you can re-enact the scene when you are sitting?

Alyssa, wishing you the best in your delivery, can't wait to find out boy or girl. :)

We had a busy weekend cleaning out things for reno's going on in the house from our water damage last year. It is good to get it going but OHHH the mess! I did manage to get a walk in with my new walking group, lovey ladies and such nice park areas to explore. The group is going to participate in a yearly event to wrap gifts in our shopping mall for Christmas, all donations will go to charity groups. Should be fun and happy to participate and support our local charities.

Good morning ladies. I am trying to make a to-do list and will focus on one thing at a time. It is so daunting to think about moving in 3 wks and all that needs to be done. Today is paperwork, setting up dog appts before we go and purging the bedroom closets for anything we don't need to bring with us. I will also start getting my camera/computer stuff together b/c that will come in the car with me except for the PC which I'll let the movers take.

Last night we started watching "Based On A True Story" and am enjoying it. I managed to get thru 2 episodes before falling asleep. I think I will be permanently exhausted until after we get moved into the new place so I predict that I will need a lot of coffee over the coming days LOL.

Karen - yes, Alberta. We are moving to Okotoks which is a small town (32,000) 15 min out of South Calgary.

Alyssa - wow, how exciting!

Ane - I love craft fairs. I will miss them this year as we'll be in the middle of moving/unpacking so don't think I'll have time but sure looking forward to next year and all the events in the Calgary area.

Lynnie - you are always so busy, do you ever get to relax? LOL

I'm getting another coffee now, will read a few pages of my book and then will get on with my day. Not much time to procrastinate this busy month. Have a good day everyone.

Karen, one of Nessa's cousins, got some pics - not precisely what I wanted, but they are okay, so I did a little page on them. They were Lord of the Rings themed, so I added Aragorn. Hopefully, your mess will clear up soon.

I have done a lot of scraping this last week in between everything else.
