Shana, SO glad you are up for some fun activities, haha! You have my sympathy for your cough...

So... Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were babysitting days, but Steven had those days off because they have an annual horror movie night at their place every year. It is a huge deal. They set up a giant screen outside and then show two movies. Everyone comes in costume. They have dozens of chairs set up, food, and snacks. It also means the house and grounds have to be spotless. Nessa had most of Saturday off. I was there to watch kids while stuff was being done. By midday Saturday, it was still chaos, and Nessa had to take the children to her mother's for the night. After Nessa left, I had planned on going home, but the house still needed a good cleaning. (They have kids; it is never spotless; the two are not compatible!) I spent the next six hours scrubbing and cleaning. I cleaned tubs, showers, and toilets, washed sheets, made beds, dusted, swept, and mopped. When Nessa got home from dropping the kids and shopping, all she had to do was decorate the outside, and I helped with that. She was incredibly grateful. Steven had been employed in the setup of their "cinema." I left when they were all done and ready to take their showers and get dressed up. On Monday, I will be working on cleaning up after the party. Monday is Steven's day off, so we will do that together while we are watching the kids.

I was so glad to get home.

This morning, I made the 45-minute trip to my grandson's trailer to drop off food and his birthday present. I stayed long enough to drop it all off and come right home. Now I am going to finish up the thank you cards for my friend's baby shower, work on the video, and tonight we are going to see my daughter's boyfriend's band playing. We are not that into the kind of music he plays, but we love to support him. He is also the temp drummer and sound guy for some other bands like P.O.D. and the sound guy for Insane Clown Posse. I hear they are well-known, but not in my world. Insane Clown Posse is just plain strange!

I need a vacation from my world, haha.

Lynnie, what a fun event to have a costume / movie party. I'm not a fan of horror films, but it sounds like they go all out. How very kind of you to help them by cleaning the house like that! And you're right... kids and clean house are not things that go together. My SIL said trying to clean house while having kids is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreos! LOL!

Fridge door is fixed. Recliner needs a part to be delivered than they'll come to repair. Dryer guy cleared the error code and left. Husband tried to dry a load and the error message came back on. Trying to call them again to set up another appointment.

Philip has his exploratory surgery on Wednesday. Please pray that they find out what is causing his continuous pain.

Philip and I went to a Billy Joel concert on Friday. It was his first concert ever. He was singing right along with me. He knew songs that I had forgotten about.

I still have a cough from the virus. It doesn't seem to want to go away.

I wear an apple watch and it gave me a scare the other day. An alarm went off and it said my BPM was at or below 40 for 10 consecutive minutes. God! I have to make an appointment with my cardiologist. Everything was fine 6 months ago but this scared me.

Lily Ann, how fun to go to a Billy Joel concert. My BFF's college roommate was such a huge fan of Billy Joel. She always played his music our entire freshman year of college. What a fun concert to go to!

Isn't it amazing what technology can do? So glad you were wearing an Apple watch and can get your BP looked into!!

I hope my cough from the virus goes away soon. My ribs still are sore from all the stupid coughing. Bleh. I did make it to work today, but when I came home I took a nap! Tonight, hubby and I tried our hand at making shepherd's pie. It was yummy, but way too much work! LOL. I'm all about homemade food with fresh veggies, but with a 30 minute cooktime limit.

I’d love to see Billy Joel in concert. I had such a crush on him as a teen.

‘’Alexis loved Colorado, and has now landed in texas, where it’s raining.

‘’winter hit with a vengeance today, roads are crap. Lots of accidents.

Lynnie, wow, you are at it again! When I think if I would do that for one of my kids, the answer is yes I would! I'd take the chance to be with them and help them out.

LilyAnn, wow, Billy Joel! Very cool. :) I'll pray for your hubby. That Apple Watch did you a big favor! I love mine. I hope your cough clears up soon.

Shana, I hope your cough goes away soon! I had a persistent cough for a month in high school (didn't think to see a doctor) and I coughed so hard sometimes that I threw up. I hope yours doesn't progress that far!

Sherri, I'm glad that Alexis is having a good time. How are you managing with her gone?

Me, I got to go to a concert last night, The 1975. It was pretty last-minute because Eren had bought 2 tickets and couldn't find anyone to go with them. So I was the last choice, haha, but a welcome one. I had never heard this band's music, but I plan to listen to some, since I couldn't hear most of the words to the songs (I wear earplugs and the lead singer was fairly quiet. Weird.). This week will be pretty quiet. Just a couple of appointments and a local marching band competition. Eren gets Thursday and Friday off for a fall break, so we may see them tomorrow night.

Good (early) morning... I've been at my office since 5 a.m. Not by choice. Ha. This is the day that the airlines release group sales for my summer events... so I come early, get on the call, and then sit on hold. Last year, I was on hold for 7 hours. My personal record is 12 hours. Ah the joys of planning events!

I have a department head meeting in a few hours... I've already warned my co-workers that they'll get to listen to the on-hold music for the entirety of the meeting. I think they thought I was kidding... I am not. If only there was a way we could select a different music track for their on-hold music! LOL!!!

So how is everyone else spending their day?

Travel agent calls aren't any better, especially those who sell Disney and Universal Studios. I don't envy you!

I'm at my day job (travel agent is my side hustle) listening to several people cough wondering if I'll get sick this early in the season. Tonight I'll catch up on Big Brother and watch the football game.

Lynnie, The horror night sounds like a fun event, and dressing up sure adds to the fun. We usually do a round of haunted drives in our city to visit the scariest houses or ones that are well decorated in any theme. There is a huge participation in some neighborhoods and this year I heard of an area where this one home owner has 1000lb pumpkins and will deliver (yikes, how do you get rid of it!). He collects money for a children's charity and this year they will have fireworks, we may go.

Lily Ann, I am hoping you got your blood pressure checked and is all fine with now, take care. Prayers hubby has some answers. I would have loved to see Billy Joel in concert, my sister actually won ticket many years ago and she took....MY AUNT!

Shana, hoping time has helped with your cough and you are feeling more like your cheery self!

Sherri, Nice to see you here, I have been following Alexis's stops through her FB posts, glad she is enjoying herself. Winter has reared it's ugly head here too, my son in Banff got a fair amount and I think we got it from your region! LOL

Ane, Sounds like a fun concert, they are loud so wise choice for ear plugs.

DJ, Nice to see you back here, hope you don't catch any of what is going around. Big Brother and football are not my thing but they are popular, I am more into hockey!

I decided to finally change internet providers as the fees were just getting so high for Internet, Television and Phone. So I have spent the last 2 days updating and saving info I want to keep, uggg how daunting and time consuming a digital life can be! I thought I had lost GS's when I tried to change my email address but thankfully I was able to find it again...phew! The snow as you read is now here and I am sure it will stay, not to cold out yet though! I have shopped for new winter boots and coat this year, the prices are horrendous but managed to find a really nice Columbia coat for 50% off at Sport Check and boot were on sale for $30 off. I have my weekly walk with the group today so we will see how they work out. Hubby also shopped for a new computer, he has only had a laptop and it was so slow that he deserved a new on for all he has to put up with me, LOL!

Have a great day everyone!

Alexis gives her big presentation on her research paper in Texas at a university this afternoon. Positive thoughts for her.

‘’weather is pouring rain in Texas. Something we never cons idered when she packed. Lol.

with her gone I had so much time looming ahead of me I decided to try scrapping again. I’m terrified, I lost my talent with all that happened, I’ve forgotten so much of how to use program, it’s startling and very disheartening. So check out my gallery on the 1st.

‘’I was so excited to get out of the house Tuesday and go to a pool with a homecare recreation therapist via. Action bus. All set up before Alexis left. I went outside the 15 minutes early and waited and waited and waited. Austin came out to make sure I was okay as it was so cold and slippery. The recreation therapist didn’t answer texts to her. Finally got ahold of Alexis in the states, she called the action bus people and they told her someone had called the previous day and cancelled. I was so disappointed. Like heartbroken. I get a text the next day from recreation therapist saying she had texted both Alexis and I to say she was sick, the day before. Neither of us got a text. I never got my outing. I had so looked forward to it. I love water and a pool is closest to a body of water I can reach.

Hugs Sherri, I know it is a struggle for you. Sigh...I wish I was closer. Take your scrapbooking one step at a time, I am sure you will master it again and will look forward to seeing your lovely pages!

I don't call in here very often but I did a LO this week that, following a comment on it, prompted me to ask a question where I know a few people will see it and possibly answer...

This is the LO

The comment by BKasko saying she had to look it up has prompted me to ask...How many of you have heard of or tried Vegemite? It has been such a daily staple in Aussie houses for so many years, that I naively thought everyone in the world would have at least heard about it. Have you?

Sherri, I am happy to read that you are attempting scrapping again, let me tell you that you certainly have not lost your talent, it is there just waiting to be put into action again. I get the bit about re-learning the programme though. Don't fret, you can do it!

Lynnie!! Slow DOWN!!

@Jill Obviously I've heard of Vegemite in NZ, but I grew up in a Marmite house - don't like either of them to be honest.

DJ – I’d love to hear more about the secret life of a travel agent. I always thought that would be a good side hustle, considering how much of that type of work I do already.

Sherri – Sending good vibes for Alexis’ presentation! So sorry you didn’t get your outing. As others have said, I wish I were closer and could have come picked you up myself!

Jill – the ONLY reason I know vegemite is because we had an amazing exchange student when I was in high school. She brought us treats from Australia to try. I just remember vegemite being so, so salty. But no, it is not something that is common in this part of the world (Kansas, USA). But I adore this layout!!! I never knew there was a vegemite jingle!!!

Happy Friday to everyone! Our office is a ghost town today. Which means I should be able to get a lot done… or I can just take some time off and head home. Ah choices. Tomorrow is the state cross country meet, and I have a nephew who will be racing. It’s supposed to rain and be cold… but I will still be there. And Sunday, I’m still supposed to take dance team photos… and it’s supposed to snow. The coach just texted me to ask if I knew of any indoor photo locations (for 20 girls). The only locations I know for that many girls would charge a fee, so those are out. So either they’ll reschedule, we’ll shoot outside in the cold, we’ll shoot inside the school gym (not the best lighting). We’ll see what happens.

We're just getting started so nothing too huge right now. It's fun doing the planning though. I will say it's hard to convince people to let you plan their trips though. I'm happy to answer any questions you have!

Thank you all so muc. Alexis said the presentation went wonderfully. She is so enjoying her chance to be a university student if only for a few days.

‘’I’ve had multiple friends from down under send me Aussie treats and most I liked, chocolate especially, but vegemite I did not care for. You can buy it here in the stores that carry “ethnic” foods.

Interesting to read the Vegemite feedback...seems I'm the only one so far who likes it:)

How about TImTams, lamingtons, pavlova (Julia, I know there is an argument over whether that is an Aussie or NZ delicacy:),), Anzac biscuits anyone?

I've had a pavlova (baked merengue dessert, right?) Never heard of the other two. I'll need to look those up! We may need to develop a "scrapbooker's treat box" series! LOL!

I am not very fond of Vegemite or Marmite. I didn't like them when I was young and have not tried them since. Perhaps it is time.

I love TimTams, Lamingtons, Pavlova and Anzac biscuits. We have them all available in the British shops here.

I also like Garibaldi's, Eccles Cakes, Bakewell Tarts, Hot Cross Buns, Iced Buns, oh heck, everything!

I have not been on because I have been busier than usual...

I have scrapped 1032 mini pages this week.

Yes, you read it correctly - 1032. I am making a slide show video for my husband's 70th and have scrapped every slide. Some are quite simple with a background and a border around the pictures, but some are quite elaborate. I finished it today. I created a draft video, then we watched it and I made the edits hubby requested, then I re-created the video. I am quite pleased with it. It runs an hour and ten minutes.

WOW! Lynnie, you have been busy!

I felt like doing some Art Journaling again so I have shared something in my Random Challenge I started 2 years ago and hope someone will come along and play with me.... HERE

Hey everyone!

I've heard of a few of those things, Jill, but have never tasted them. There is a small British section in our base commissary; perhaps it's time I explored it a bit more. :)

I was busy all day yesterday, shopping, watching football, and watching marching bands. Lots of bands. Friday afternoon/evening too, watching bands. But it was worth it, because our local high school placed second in this huge competition. They have never gone that high before.

Today I took it easy. Church, then carving pumpkins with Eren, then a nap. That's where I am now. Trying to get going in this chilly, rainy weather. But I have a nice, warm sweater on and an evening without hubby. Think I'll brew a cup of herbal teal later, mmm yeah. ;)

Oh how I miss the days of marching band! Congratulations on your great finish!! I'm guessing this was probably a state level or Bands of America. Our two local high schools competed in Bands of America St. Louis yesterday but did not place very well. I hope you got lots of photos to scrap!

DJ, that's the same competition our band was at! Which high schools are yours?

I live just outside Jefferson City, MO. Jefferson City Jays and Capital City Cavaliers are the local high schools. My son marched with JC Jays before Capital City was even in existence. Cap City has only been around for 5 or so years.

Lynnie… that’s an incredible feat!!!! Holy cow!!! Has your husband seen the slideshow yet?

Anne-Marie, thank you for linking to the art journaling thread. It was fun to see those layouts!

Ane, I just love cozy days where you can snuggle in and have a warm drink. Perfect!!!

DJ, I remember traveling to St. Louis when I was in high school to compete with our band. But our bus broke down and we all slept at a closed gas station until help arrived. Ah the memories.

I’m still trying to warm up from this weekend. Spent Saturday at the state cross country meet to cheer on one of the nephews. He finished 22[SUP]nd[/SUP] out of the 104 elite runners in his race, so he was happy. Yesterday, I took photos of the local high school dance team. Happily, one of the girls (there were 16 on the team) had family with a barn/venue that had all glass doors… so we were able to still get natural light but be warm for the group photos. But the girls wanted to go outside for their headshots and have the barnwood / stone as their background. My fingers were near frozen, but at least I was wearing a coat. They would keep themselves covered in blankets until it was their time for photos, drop the blanket, smile like it wasn’t cold, and then rush back inside. Ha. They were troopers.
