I only have about 500 more photos of the exchange students photos left to edit. Since the students are all from different countries, their skin tones are all different shades and it's just gorgeous. I've been using the AI masking features in Adobe bridge to select skin tones and adjust them individually so that everyone looks their best in each photo (no one is too dark and no one is washed out), but it's taking a lot more time than I planned. But I really want them to be happy with the pics. One of the young men brought a couple of outfits and he kept asking if he looked American! LOL!!! Loved it.

I'm at work for about another hour today and then I get to run home, let in the guy to clean out the washer/dryer vents, and then start packing. Tonight I head to Washington, DC, for a meeting. I'm giving a presentation on Thursday. Because the group I'm presenting to is a comfortable, chatty group, I've designed the presentation using the web app called mentimeter. So people will be encouraged to pull out their phones, scan a QR code, and enter answers to questions and polls throughout the presentation. As they answer, the responses show up on the screen for everyone to see in real time. Should be fun! :)

So happy for the cooler weather and the fact that I'm getting to pull out my sweaters! Happy dance!

I went to my writing class this morning. We have to read a piece we have written in each class, and our fellow writers help critique it.

This is only the second time I have written, and I was so pleased with the responses. Folks loved each piece. I am so glad.

Shana, 500 pics! That would take me weeks :) I looked up the mentimeter software - it looks amazing.

I had a blast at Ren Fest! I smiled the whole time, which is rare for me, LOL. We managed not to spend too much there--it is easy to spend a ton on cool stuff. ;) Hubby took lots of pics and I'm going to ask him for those ASAP. He takes tons of pics for kids we know, so those kind of get the priority, but not today, LOL!

Sunday was a quiet day. I watched a lot of anime with Eren. And hubby had the day off, so we went to the Botanical Garden to see the Chihuly during the day. It's interesting that some pieces were more beautiful at night and some during the day. But I am walked out for a couple of days! :)

Shana, you sure are busy! :) 500 pics is a lot! Hubby typically takes 2-3K at football games, just of the kids. I don't know how you guys manage to go through all those.

Lynnie, you are amazing! I write on the side (short stories), but haven't dared to join a writing group. I am just too introverted.

Ane, I am really looking forward to seeing the pics of the Ren Faire and to see your 'scraps' of them :) I used to take a few thousand pictures of Karen when she was dancing. When they are moving, you want to try to get at least one decent picture, and sometimes, out of the hundreds of Karen spinning on ropes at a height, I could pick out a few that we clear and had her face! If I flicked through them really fast, it was like a moving picture :)

As for being brave, I love to write. It is wonderful to find people who want to share each other's stories. They are supportive and encouraging and it gives me confidence.

Awe, thanks Lynnie I LOVE it. May I have a copy for my California book?

One page on meeting Karen - it was for the DSD challenge...

If anyone missed it, here is the one I did of Lynnie and I for the template challenge.

The days are flying by since my retirement, how did I do everything while working? LOL

Even though it is still decent weather for our region, we purchased a new snowblower and it was delivered today. I heard on the news that parts of the US were getting bad weather, which is especially concerning for us as we get the Colorado lows here in the Prairies and that means snow, so not ready for it yet but glad we are prepared. Stay safe for those who are in the regions that are predicted to have some storm activity.

My BFF and I are panning a visit to Thermea spa next week, she retired a few days after me so a way of us getting together to celebrate. She was my maid-of-honor at my wedding and a wonderful friend since grade school. Last time we went to the spa, we went from 10AM to 4PM, we were prunes but what a fun day we had!

Yes, it seems quiet around here, everyone must be tired from all the DSD activities.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey y'all, it's fall! <3

I have been busy with CT work and finishing up the DSD challenges. I try to do as many as I can, so there's very few I don't do. And I shopped too. :)

It seems like it's been a busier than normal week, I've done a lot of small stuff and that sure adds up! But tomorrow is my day to relax. Hubby and Eren are going to a band competition all day. I'm doing a 1.5 mile Breast Cancer Awareness walk tomorrow morning. I'll take a couple of selfies and crowd pictures. It's gonna be cold but I'm sure I'll manage all right. I've got light-weight thermals. I think I might have a nap after that, LOL! Then just relax the rest of the day. :)

Lynnie! That layout is precious!!! You both look so happy! And what a perfect touch to add both your online names! This really brought a smile to my face this morning!

Ane, so glad you had a blast at the Ren Faire! Can't wait to see your photos! :)

I just got back from my work trip late, late last night. My presentation went very well and mentimeter was a hit! Our new area in Washington, DC is going to be more expensive for our youth tour, but it's also much safer, so I feel it's a good trade off. We actually finished our meetings early, so Randy and I changed our flights and took off to Corpus Christi on Friday night so that we could watch the eclipse on Saturday. When we woke up, it was really cloudy and we thought we were not going to see anything, but then the clouds disappated and we had an amazing view. So glad we went as we are both sky-nerds. LOL!

We finally returned home about midnight last night. So glad to not be crammed on a plane with lots of coughing people. If I don't get sick after being around so many people who were hacking and sneezing and coughing, it will be a miracle. I have a mountain of laundry to do, but I still have about 300 photos left to edit of the foreign exchange students! LOL! (I took over 2,000 photos of them last weekend). And at 4 p.m., I'm shooting photos of our little school's dance team. And my... it's CHILLY today. So I'm not sure what those girls will be wearing. We may have a very short photo shoot. But when my daughter was in high school, she made the dance team all four year and her coach was a saint. So whenever this coach calls and asks for photos, I immediately agree. It's my way of giving back to our little community.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your weekend! :)

Shana, I do a lot, but I wish I had your energy and you do TWICE what I do (or maybe more!) Big hug to you...

Ha... Lynnie... well, I will be honest. The girls cancelled on me last night (after I was already at the school, mind you). And I was quite happy to have that time given back to me. I returned home and actually got the laundry done!

Hubby wanted to do something nice and he made "gourmet" grilled cheese. LOL! He used a cheddar jalapeño bread and then made a tomato soup to go with it. It was lovely. I was glad to be home, because I can tell that I've caught whatever bug the people on the plane had and were oh so kind to share with me. I came to the office early this morning. I cancelled / rescheduled what meetings I could. I'll do what I can while I'm here, but then I plan to go home and just sleep. This is also my body's way of saying to sssslllloooowwwwww doooowwwnnnn!!!

I will swing by the walk in clinic on my way home to see if there is anything they can throw at this crud to help the recovery process speed up. I have a bridal shower in Nebraska this weekend that I don't want to miss! :)

Ha, Lynnie!

Well... I moved all of my meetings to virtual meetings, went to the walk in clinic, then went home. Got to feeling punier and punier as the day went on. Not surprised when they called and said I tested positive for Covid. Ugh. So I'm now quarantined at the house for the rest of the week. Cancelled all of my events for the week and have been sleeping as much as I can. Still working from home in between naps. Don't know if I will try to make the bridal shower in Nebraska this weekend or just send the gift instead. I would feel awful if I shared this crud with anyone.

Hopefully I'll get to feeling well enough to work on some layouts. But for now, I think I'll go take some more meds to help with this darn cough and go back to bed. Randy has done a great job making sure I'm covered up, drinking lots of hot tea, etc. I know he's not getting much sleep with my coughing. He's napping now. So I'll be very quiet!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Happy Tuesday!

Wow, Shana, they gave you Covid? Yuk! I hope you feel better soon! And thanks, because you also reminded me to get my flu and Covid shots. 'Tis the season, ugh.

So far I haven't done much this week. I cashed in on some DSD prizes yesterday but didn't do any scrapping. I just felt tired all day. I finished a book to review on my blog. Today we're going to take in my Jeep to the mechanic's. There's something wrong with the brakes and hubby won't let me drive it. Hopefully we get it back before next Thursday as I have a doctor appointment.

I think that's all that's going on, besides waiting for packages, LOL. I ordered us new pillows yesterday as our current ones are giving us neck aches. They'd better last a long while because I paid a lot for them! :)

I was sick last week with a virus. Doctor said it was a very, very, very bad virus as it mutated a lot. I didn't know what I had whether it was allergies, flu (got the flu shot the Friday before) or Covid because someone at work had it. I was miserable and slept all day Wednesday.
Back to work this week. Was supposed to meet for dinner with HS friends that came to town for a visit, but one of them got sick too.
We bought all new appliances when we "moved" downstairs 2 years ago. This week we called for dryer, fridge and my recliner. This is the second time for dryer within the last two weeks. Different error messages. If this keeps up, we'll ask for replacement. It was the door on my fridge. Second time for that too. It's just cosmetic so I'm not worried. My recliner was stuck in the recline position and I had to shuffle out of it. That must have been a sight to see.
Philip has decided to have exploratory surgery for the pain in his wrist. He's had multiple x-rays, MRIs, went for therapy had a cortisone shot. Nothing helped. He finally caved and said yes. That's when I knew he's in pain. He wouldn't say yes otherwise. This has been going on since last Feb. The surgery is next Wednesday. Please say a prayer that this helps.

Shana, so sorry you got covid. I hope you are getting that much needed rest to battle it quick.

Ane, hope your jeep is fixed now, I hate when I am out of my wheels!

Lily Ann, What's with the quality on appliances these days! I had the same issue with our front loader washer a couple years ago. It finally would not open with a full load of clothes and water in it and we tried for hours to get it to spin or at least drain with no avail. We had to move it closer to the sewer and force open the door...of course the water rushed out like a river and went under my flooring. We replaced the washer with a new old fashioned upright, no fancy gadgets just washes clothes and we had to replace or flooring.

Today, I am joining my new found cylce/hike group...should be fun!

Sorry to hear that you are confined to the house with covid, Shana! My DIL and her mother are just getting over having covid and I am surprised that my son hasn't come down with it as well. Something is being passed around here but I am not sure if it is the flu, covid or just the nasty crud because of the change in the weather. It is amazing to me how it can be 100 in the shade on one day and down in the 60's the next.

Stay well everyone!

Hope everyone feels better soon.

‘’fall is hitting hard, leaves are gone and that s stuff is in forcast.

‘’Alexis headed to Denver today for a few days. Going to do pikesbpeak, Rocky Mountains national park, and a few museums

I’ll be learning to care for and rely on myself. Should be interesting.

You got this girl!

Good to see you here, Sherri! You've got this! :)

$1500 later and I've got my Jeep back. I wonder if it's time to retire it since it's in the shop frequently and 12 years old. Hmm. I also had some tooth pain this week and went to the dentist at 8 am yesterday (yikes). All the dentist could find was a small cavity. He filled it and I hope that's the end of it.

Heading into the weekend, what's everyone doing?

Tomorrow I've got errands and I think we're making applesauce. Yum! I will watch my college football team hopefully take down their opponent, but I'm not very hopeful. Sunday is just church and spending time with Eren (I think they're coming home for the weekend). The lure of homemade food will bring them, I think. :)

Heading into the weekend, what's everyone doing?

Not a whole lot planned except our church's fall supper is Sunday. I'm selling tickets so I'll be there all afternoon after church. Hopefully I'll be done in time to watch the KC Chiefs game.

Ane, Ouch to the vehicle repairs, isn't it nuts how much repairs are and even the price of new vehicles are way too much! I am glad that I have a 2019 with low mileage still, worked from home a lot before I retired and we don't travel much with it.

Deej, sorry I don't know your given name but a BIG welcome to our little corner of the scrapping world. I hope you will find many conversations to join in on here.

Hubby & I went shopping today for new winter attire since the cold weather will most likely be here soon in the Canadian prairies. I am a picky shopper but managed to find both a new jacket and boots and hubby got a new jacket as well. :)
Tomorrow I am going 10-pin bowling event as a fundraiser for a dog shelter & adoption that my friend runs. I will need lots of prayers to make it out alive as I do not know how to 10-pin bowl! All the team names have to have a dog breed in them so we are the Lady Bulldogs...should be a hoot and some much needed time with friends as well.

It's Dawn but I answer to Dj or Deej online so all is good! Thank you for the welcome. I was active here a little over 9 years ago just getting back into the swing of things.

Shana, I hope you are feeling better and completely on the mend.

Ane, Hope you are having a relaxing weekend with your new pillows and no neck ache. That is hard about the jeep. My DIL had one and ended up trading it in. It was just one repair after another when it got old. Glad the tooth was just a small cavity.

LilyAnn, We are lucky, we live in a co-op and they repair all our appliances. It is sort of like living in an apartment, but we own it. We got a new fridge and dishwashwer early this year. They fix the plumbing, too. I remember what a nightmare it was when we had old appliances that broke down. It must be so frustrating to have new appliances with issues. Prayers for Philip's surgery.

Karen, how was your new cycle/bike group? I am not a great bowler - well I wasn't the last time I bowled, which was not in recent memory. I did find the gutters very useful to catch my bowling balls!

Carla, the weather here has been up and down too. It is kinda crazy.

Sherri, You've got this! You are so much better than you were before the surgery and I know you will manage perfectly. Here's hoping Alexis has a wonderful time. Give her our love.

Deej, I am glad you found us :) This is such a nice place to hang out. It is good to see you are back and scrapping :)

I really have had a crazy few weeks and can barely find time to do anything these days. I have tumbled from one event into another, plus babysitting four days a week. I have a lot of stuff on my plate, so I am hoping I can get it all done. I am making a slide show for my husband's 70th, which is on 29th. He handed me 4,000 pictures to sort through to include on the video. I have to weed through and pic the best ones. The thing is, I scrap each slide, so it will take forever. I also have to finish (start!) the memory book for my friend's 50th HS reunion. I scrapped the name tags (so cute) and I am doing the memory book of the night also. I have thank you cards for a baby shower to create and also to create the envelopes! I have a friend who is having a "tea for two" party for her daughter's second birthday. I have stuff to do for that. The list goes on... On top of all this, I babysit four days a week, I have a writing class, a water aerobics class, and a Bible Study. I need a day off :)

Wow Lynnie! I just might have to come back for a visit to whisk you away from your "real life". I don't know how you do it all, I would be a basket-case with so many commitments. You are truly one-of-a-kind!

My first hike was fun, there was 22 of us. I recognized one lady from work but didn't really know her, we chatted awhile but everyone connected with each other well. The pace wasn't as quick as I normally do but it was nice to connect with like-minded ladies and gives me more freedom to hike in places I wouldn't venture alone.

Well...tonight is the night for bowling, hope we raise a lot of much needed funds for the pups.

Have a great weekend!

DJ it is nice to see you doing some Waffling with us. My life away from the computer is fairly busy so I do not always take part in the chatting but do pop in from time to time.

This coming week, Ken and I are heading away on a little three night holiday as a beachside town. Other than visiting and staying with my sister in Ipswich ( 1.5 hours drive from here) we have not been on a holiday since August last week. We are both looking forward to the break and I am itching to see the "sea". I miss not living closer to a beach like where we lived prior to where we are now.
I have been busy spreading lots of sugar in the gallery as while away I will not be on the internet as I do not do that on my phone.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Sherri... you got this! One day at a time, right? :)

DJ... glad you're back!

Ane... ouch. You might be right. May be time for a new vehicle that doesn't need to go into the shop as often.

I've spent the last several days recovering from that darn Covid. My ribs hurt from coughing, but other than that, I actually have some energy today. I'm doing fun things today like laundry. I know I will return to work tomorrow, and I don't even want to think about how far behind I am. Oy vey.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your weekend!
