Good morning ladies. Had a busy morning, I was looking for book club reading recommendations. I'm starting a book club next month for the ladies group I belong to. I just joined the group a week ago on the recommendation of two ladies I met at a bird census walk. They have Friday coffee at a local restaurant, a night time monthly book club mtg, a weeknight dinner and a morning coffee in the park get-together. There's a day at the lake picnic get-together in a few weeks where spouses can come. What a great group so far. So glad I met the ladies who invited me to join. So, after discussing at last night's book club mtg, I agreed to host a daytime one and will get that started for next month. It's nice to be mtg more women here to hang out with. My first book pick is going to be "The Golden Girl" by Elin Hilderbrand. It'll be an easy fast read. I have a book club folder in my goodreads and will be able to add suggestions in there. Should be fun. This will get me to read more again, I do love to read but since we moved I got away from it and found I was often spending (too much) time on youtube and pinterest.

Hubs is doing ok and is finally going to the Wound Care Clinic this afternoon and tonight for an MRI.

I saw the Buffet for this month...wow! So many kits I want. I will be shopping later :)

Shana - hope the dinner was good. Sounds like you are really organized for the tour.

Glee - yes, it's her second book. You are absolutely right about the cruise. My hubs ate way too much, way too much dessert, especially ice cream. No wonder he got so sick. I was much better about not indulging too much and was back to my normal weight in a few days after returning. He did mentioned that he wants to cut down on fatty foods so maybe this hospital trip scared him into wanting to cut back a bit. He'll never be a healthy eater but at least small changes are better than none.

Lovely catching up with everyone's news. Yes, that is where the "chicken with their head cut off" came from, Jill. My nan also used to kill chickens that way and they ran around for a while. My mother never had to, we could buy them at the shops by that time haha.

I have one more big event and I'm ready for a break. I have a short presentation to do based on my mother's memories next Thursday. I have a day at Disneyland, babysitting the grands when their parents go on rides. I am helping my neighbour write her memories for a little book for her 90th birthday. I also have a friend who needs a little help with her house. Sort of an easy month for me. Hopefully I can get some scrapping done.

Hi everyone! Sorry not to read through everyone's news prior to this but I hope to keep up better in the future. I plan to do at least two challenges here each month and maybe next year become more involved again. I am considering resigning from my position on another site at the end of this year. Life away from the computer is still very busy, especially now my husband and I are selling our crafts at the local Arts and Crafts store. I volunteer at this store ( and a tourist information centre) for an allowance from the Government as I have another two years before I can receive an aged pension. Ken and I also as part of our membership at the Craft store need to work two shifts each month which we do on one day. I help train new members at the store as well. Ken is selling his woodwork and I sell my baby crochet and greeting cards. I am about to start making and selling fridge magnets.
We are both keeping well and enjoying life in our little home which Ken calls "Our oversized caravan" which is a one bedroom unit in a retirement village.

I thought that in the gallery we could click on "thanks" or "Like" when someone adds a comment.

Anne-Marie, Life does sound busy for you however it sounds like you a loving it. We are downsizing to go into a "Oversized Caravan" as well, LOL.

Sometimes it seems life gets so busy and we find ourselves needing to meet obligations instead of our hobbies or passions. I hope you find some time to scrap, Anne-Marie. I use a laptop and carry it with me. Sometimes that is hard because of Internet issues but I am working around it, mostly. Your crafting sounds nice and it is good that you can sell your products.

I just need a cyber group hug. My mom passed. She would have turned 92 next month, so she had an excellent long life and had retired to her bed for the past several months. Even though it was clear the end was nigh, it's always a serious "disturbance in the Force" as Obi-Wan used to say.
aloha

Keeping you and those grieving the loss of your mother close to my heart. :GroupHug:

Awww...Glee.....hugs and hugs and more hugs going your way. I know when we lost my mom, it didn't help that we knew her time was approaching, it was devastating nonetheless. Losing our mom is never easy. Grieve, let it out, and don't hold it in. That helped me. I would disappear into the bathroom for a few minutes and then come out, carry on, until the next "moment" caught me. Then the moments came less often and now I can talk and think about her with a smile on my face and in my heart, full of the memories.

Glee, So sorry for your loss. I am glad she lived an excellent long life. BIG HUGS!!

Oh Glee... I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending love and prayers for comfort and peace.
I'm just waiting for that day. My mom is 94 and I know it's coming. I know it's going to shatter my world. Even just thinking about it now makes me cry.
Sending you huge (((HUGS)))

thanks, loves. As a blessing, I'm heading to the 93rd bday of my "calabash" mom today. That's a term we use in Hawaii for family that's not blood, but still family. This is my bf's mom from back in the 70s who adopted me as their own. Over the years our families are fully entwinned; they embraced my parents and my siblings whenever they visited. Our children have all known eachother all their lives. I'm so happy I'm getting a chance to connect w them all today.
Life is good. Every day a blessing.

I am trying to get caught up on all of the news in here. It sometimes is very overwhelming!

Glee, I am so sorry to hear of your loss but, you are correct in that everyday is a blessing. Big Hugs coming your way and prayers for you and your family.

So, I am not a seamstress by any means but all this past week I have been hemming and trying to adjust my grand-daughters Bridesmaid dress for her SIL's wedding tomorrow. It has drove me completely mad at times but I finally finished it on Wednesday and was finally able to get back to my other obligations that I had let slide all week! We will see if she send photos of her in it from the wedding. After going through that, I am officially taking myself off of the "Can you fix this for me, MawMaw" roster!!!!!

Heading out to a friends house for dinner. I need the time away from the house! You all have a great rest of the weekend!

im so sorry to hear of your loss. Big virtual hug.

It’s been an enjoyable quiet day today, I had a nice long nap this afternoon.
i may be home, but I’m far from “healthy”, my heart function being severely impacted has me nauseous most of the time and unfortunately if I overdue things I throw up for ages. It’s something I detest.
so many different aspects of home care support coming in, I can’t even keep track of which person is looking after which area. Thank heavens Alexis is looking after organizing everything and keeping me fed and my meds on time.
im over emotional much of the time which is not helpful to keeping me calm.
it’s been a month today when my defibrillator fired 7 times keeping me alive, but there were so many more arrythmias. I’m only now starting to realize how serious it all is. Sometimes I feel lucid and like nothing is wrong, and other times I’m so confused.
my balance is terrible, and my house is too small to use a walker. So I kind of go from wall to wall. Physiotherapy is coming this week, to get me started on some kind of strength regaining.

What a wonderful word, glee. Glad you have something fun to do to take your mind off your sadness.

Congrats on finishing your project and pulling your sign off the market, Carla!

Sorry you're having such troubles, Sherri, but so thankful you're still with us.

Glee, my heart aches for you. My mum was 93, and my whole world turned upside down the day she died. I still have not recovered. I have filled my life with so much, but none of it makes up for the empty space where my mother once lived. It was a year ago last February, and I don't know where the time has gone. If you need any extra special love, you know where I am. We can chat for hours if you like.

Sherri, I am glad Alexis is organizing everything for you. I wish we could do something from here, but let us know when you are up to it and I will organize a Zoom.

Anne-Marie, it is lovely to see you here again.

I am done with all my major projects and left with a few minor ones. I have a friend who has a back injury and has been pretty frail for some time. I have not been to her house for a while, but last Friday, her phone sent out a dozen emergency SOS messages. I went over there and let myself in; she was not there, and her place was a disaster. She was out and about, and we don't know why her phone sent the messages out, but I think it may have been God telling us she needed some help.

She has been unable to do dishes or pick up for months and was too proud to ask us to help her. I went over after church today and started cleaning it up. Three hours later, I had made a small dent in it. It will take me the rest of the week to finish her kitchen alone. My husband is coming over to move some furniture around. Things might move a little more quickly after that.

Glee, sending you a giant hug from Kansas. I lost my mom about 15 years ago. She was 59... ahem... I mean... she was 29 (every birthday was her 29th birthday). I still miss her terribly. HUGS!!!!

Anne-Marie, your posts brighten this thread. So glad when you are able to check in. Good luck with your craft sales.

Sherri, I'm happy to see your posts, too. Hope your recovery gets smoother and you're able to relax.

Lynnie, you are an angel. How kind of you to help your friend in need.

I'm 10 days away from Youth Tour. So I'm finalizing all of a million details. Every meal, all transportation, every venue, every activity... double checking to make sure all systems are GO!!! And, of course, since it's DC... everything will change at the last second. It's just the nature of the beast. But the good news... as of today, I will get to surprise the kids with a tour inside the White House (unless something pops up and it gets cancelled at the last minute). I will be offline from June 14 through June 22... and then lord knows how many days I'll need to recover!

Hi everyone! Sherri, I'm glad you're ok most of the time and hope the physiotherapist will be able to help you. Anne-Marie, it's good to see you here. I miss seeing you post here. Lynnie, you are an awesome friend!

Today is my birthday! So far I've slept in late and gone to lunch with Eren. We also did some yoga and I opened up the present from my father-in-law. I had my special dinner and cake last night because hubby has to work late tonight. My present from him is an Apple Watch. I'm excited to track all sorts of things with it. :)

Happy birthday Ane! Enjoy your apple watch.

Shana - I know my daughter loves hers. Hope you get to tour the white house, what an exciting tour that will be.

I've been busy this last week, trying to get info on Alberta medical compared to British Columbia. I love where we live but after our terrible experiences with hospital and clinic care here, we will be deciding over the winter if we want to relocate to Alberta in the spring/summer next year. It will also depend on real estate prices too. We'll see, I leave it up to the universe to provide a path forward or we'll stay put.

We went to our travel agent today and booked our winter cruise to South America. After that we came home b/c hubs is still a bit tired and weak from his illness and surgery.

I've been reading more and getting my basement media room ready for my book club that will start next month.

Life has been busy this past couple of weeks.

Happy birthday, Ane! I hope you have a wonderful day! <3

Do you love your Apple watch? Hubby bought one when they first came out many, many years ago. And it's finally to the point that he needs to replace it. He went with me when I upgraded my iPhone (version 8) to the much newer version 14 pro max. I'm hoping I can use the phone as my main camera during my youth programs and not haul my DSLR every day (that puppy get heavy after awhile). Hubby hasn't committed to a new watch yet, but I think he knows which one he wants. I just need to push him to just get it done.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Happy birthday Ane.

‘’such a fun trip you do Shana.

‘’Alberta medical …. No family doctors exist. At least none anywhere other than Calgary and Edmonton. We have to wait and see what the smith government privatizes in the next while.

Hello everyone!

I have still been busy. I had a tooth extracted yesterday; I was in and out in under 45 min and had no pain or swelling. It was supposed to be a difficult procedure because there was a severe infection under a crown, but it was so easy. The dentist was surprised. I am really happy :)

I thought I would have a chance to answer everything on here, but my husband is ready to head over to my friends for the next round of cleaning. I am not about to say wait :)
