Lynnie, the idea of watching one of hubby’s shows WITHOUT COMPLAINT is just hysterical. And how he managed to work that one certificate for multiple shows was genius. LOL!!!

Lynnie - funny story about Oak Island. I had to read that to my hubs. I too like Acorn and Britbox but cancelled them b/c I just didn't have enough time to watch enough to justify the cost. Most of the shows were for me b/c I like slow burners and a lot of their shows are. My hubs is more action and thrillers (me too but I like slower, more dramatic shows too).

I had an appt with the eye specialist yesterday. Turns out I do have glaucoma in both eyes, worse on the left. I had a laser iridotomy procedure yesterday and spent the night in bed with a migraine and sore eyes. Today is better and after a few more days of anti-inflammatory I should feel ok. It sucks that now I'll need drops every day forever but it'll be worth it if it preserves my eyesight and I don't need further surgery. They'll check in a few months and see how I'm doing.

Today I will do house chores and sort thru travel clothes, narrowing it down a bit. I won't be on the computer as much today until my eyes feel better. But this morning is better than last night so I know its improving.

I'll have to check the show "Consultant" and see if its one we'd like to see. I still have lots on the PVR so no new shows until I clear off some of that. We'll be gone for three weeks so have to make sure I have enough room to PVR my shows while we are away.

HAGD everyone.

Rae, I hate that you needed to have that laser procedure but even if you need to have the eye drop every day forever, it is better than the other alternative. My Mother has degenerative eye decease and needs to have shots in her left eye every one to three months, and I have heard her say a million times that she would rather have eye drops than have to go through getting the shots. Unfortunately, the shots are the only thing saving her sight in that one eye. Eye drops would not do her any good. I hope you are feeling much better by now.

Lynnie, you gave me a good laugh for today and I thank you! In my house it is just the reverse. I am the Oak Island Acorn and my husband tolerates the show for an hour.

I am a Brit Box or Acorn kinda gal. Give me British Detective shows any day haha!

I'm right there with you! I was just noticing that there are new episodes of some of my shows, so as soon as hubby (professional for the Boy Scouts) heads off to camp for the summer, I'll have to get all caught up again.

I was so excited that there were new episodes of Sister Boniface and Madame Blanc the other day. I caught up with Madame Blanc and am now working on Sister Boniface.

I only watch TV when I am busy doing something else. Sometimes I stop the episode half way through and restart because I realized I wasn't paying attention and I have no clue what is going on. Plus my husband stops into my room every few minutes to update me on things of which I have no interest... Oak Island discoveries, possible vacations to places I don't want to go, the symbology of the stars in the Bible (his favourite topic, for which I gave him a certificate for 15 minutes of fascinated interest one Christmas - NEVER AGAIN! My face almost froze in an expression of fascinated interest.)

I have been known to binge watch favourite movies over and over to keep me company while I am scrapping. Silly, really. I watch on my iPad, which is on a tripod right by my scrapping area.

Am I too purple?

ROFL! Absolutely not! Too much purple? Impossible!

As for TV/movies, we don't watch a lot, though we have several streaming services. Lately it's been live sports and The Mandalorian. I'm a sucker for fantasy/sci-fi stuff, so superheroes are in my wheelhouse.

In other news, Eren gets an Easter break, so they will be home tonight through Monday morning. I suspect they'll be spending much of that time with the boyfriend, but as they are transferring to a nearby university, I won't complain too much.

Whew, thanks about the purple... I was worried LOL.

I have the iPad on a lot. I stream Prime Video and sometimes Disney+. I watch/rewatch TV series and occasional movies. I watch movies at night with my husband. Sometimes we will watch a TV series together, but we struggle to pick things we will both like.

I don't watch much TV, I would much rather listen to a book while I'm doing other stuff. But one show that we are watching right now is Shadow and Bone on Netflix. It's loosely based on a book series by Leigh Bardugo. It's got a bit of magic, adventure, and fantasy. I do look forward to Sundays when my daughter comes over and we watch a couple episodes as a family.

It's heartwarming to read about your family traditions and how you carry them on, even in the face of difficult times. The mincemeat pies sound delicious (despite the confusing name!) and I'm sure your mother would be proud of your efforts to keep the tradition alive. Your husband's ritual of bringing in silver and coal is such a charming and meaningful gesture. It's lovely to see how you all come together to welcome the new year and capture those special moments with photos. Your words about memories and happiness are so true and poignant. Here's to a wonderful new year and many more cherished memories to come!

I listen to tons of books! I drive around to see home health and hospice pts in the afternoons! I know it's a good book when I start to drive slower...lol! I thought about finding the Bones and Shadows series! I usually like to read a series first before I watch a series!

Julia, I read the Bone and Shadow series a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the books. I've watched the first season of the show and was like...hmm... this story line seems familiar! LOL!!! Yeah, I was a little slow on the uptake on that one. I haven't started watching the second season yet. I was thinking about re-reading the series again, as well.

One of my BFFs who lives in Wisconsin is a librarian and hosts movie nights / international movie nights at their local library. So we're always talking about the latest books and movies. Yesterday, we were chatting about the all of the great international shows streaming on Netflix. She suggested one but...gulp... it has 50 episodes. I just don't know if I can make that sort of commitment! LOL!!!!

I love to listen to books while I am either on the treadmill or cycling, it makes time go faster and entertains me when I have to go alone. I really enjoyed "the Walk" series, very interesting series that takes you on a travel across the US and many places I have been to.

Good morning ladies. We are dealing with woodpeckers (flickers) that have claimed our house. They destroyed the framing around one window and have pecked a big hole in the siding. Anyone deal with this before? I am off to the wild bird store this morning to buy a bird deterrent kit, the hole will have to be patched. What a mess. I didn't mind the drumming when the male was looking for a mate, he didn't make any mess, but the female is very destructive.

This morning I'm off to get my short hair cut even shorter. I want an easy short cut for the summer, a pixie style. I will pop into my fave store at the mall (where the stylist is) and see what new spring clothes they got in (Eclipse).

I'll take Remi to the dog park this afternoon, she needs to run. My eyes are starting to feel better, the headache is now receding and although the drops are painful, they are a bit less so, probably b/c the inflammation is receding from the laser procedure. I'll be glad to finish the anti-inflammatory drops and just take the twice daily glaucoma drops. Taking 6 drops a day is confusing.

I have a few digital books coming so I'll get to read a bit on the cruise. I used to read a lot but not so much this past year, mostly b/c Remi takes up a lot of my time, along with getting outdoors a lot more for walks and hiking. But relaxing with a book on sea days will be enjoyable, especially as I sip a cocktail or specialty coffee :)

Remi is pawing at me, it is time to go fill the bird feeders and play with her in the yard. HAGD everyone.

Welcome, I hope you keep posting here :)

I listen to tons of books! I drive around to see home health and hospice pts in the afternoons! I know it's a good book when I start to drive slower...lol! I thought about finding the Bones and Shadows series! I usually like to read a series first before I watch a series!

I am so funny about books, I own hundreds of them, but all the readers have to be English. I can't listen to an American read unless they are amazing! I buy books based on the reader and have a subscription to Audible. My favourite reader is Davina Porter, followed by Jim Dale. I have others I like a lot, but they are the cat's pajamas!

Julia, I read the Bone and Shadow series a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the books. I've watched the first season of the show and was like...hmm... this story line seems familiar! LOL!!! I could make the commitment, but whether or not I would retain anything I 'watched' while I am busy with other things is another story.

I love to listen to books while I am either on the treadmill or cycling, it makes time go faster and entertains me when I have to go alone. I really enjoyed "the Walk" series, very interesting series that takes you on a travel across the US and many places I have been to.

I listen when I am out walking by myself sometimes. Other times, I just like to listen to nature. I love listening to good readers, though.

We used to have them at my sister-in-law's cabin in the mountains. They did figure something out, but I don't know what it was. There were holes everywhere.

That WILL be nice if they transfer closer to home.

Shadow and Bone - I have never heard of it. I will have to take a look. It sounds like something my son and DIL might enjoy.

I just cannot figure out all the multiple copy paste to add comments here so doing the best I can.

Thank you Lynnie!!! for the journaling tips. I always try to add a personal to the page, whether something of my interest [sports or travel]. Something I can relate to other than a nice page.

Yikes on the weather and y'all in the tornado ways. That's not good.
Just hot here although humidity a bit still ok..

Last weekend : baseball for my boy [g'son]. They ended 10th seed on Saturday out of 14 teams and the bracket broke at 10 teams and 4. Totally wrong in my opinion but the lads soared on Sunday and life was wonderful. They beat seeds 6 and 3 and lost by 1 to seed 2. Proud of them.

Little miss is mastering her gymnastics and dance skills. There will be some pages in my gallery. And she loves her T shirt.

I am doing a sleep study [and I'm not real happy about it]. I think it is ridiculous but that said I am doing it, and I am miserable. I've not slept!. Tonight is the last night- I'm done. Don't care on the results...done.

I'm also taking an iPHONE photography class on line. He is wonderful . Great tips.
That's all for now.
Need to fix dinner.

Michi,

There is a little double quote with a plus at the end of the Reply and Reply with Quote. If you click that for each post you want to quote, then for the last one click reply with quote! See if that works for you.

The other comments tip that I didn't share here was to create a loooooooong sample comment for specific layouts types (for example Art Journaling, heritage, project 52/365 or newbie pages). That should have everything you can think of to say about a general art journaling page, heritage page or page that is scrapped by a new person who still has a lot to learn, etc. When you get stuck on a page, read through that comment and you will think "Oh yeah, I forgot about that!" To be clear, these are not cut and paste comments, but comments to prime the comment pump! It is amazing how much it helps. You can also ask yourself "if this were my page, what would I want someone to notice!"

I love getting comments, they are such a blessing and when someone takes the time to really notice my page it is a HUGE charge. I try to comment on the layouts of our folks here the most.

I took an online class from someone called Emil, I think. He was from Prague, I think. haha. It was on Facebook and it was brilliant. I love some of the things I learned.

Thank you for all the tips and tricks Lynnie. I did see that double quote sign but didn't know what is is for. Never too old to learn.
Happy Easter everyone!

It's Friday, y'all!!

Yesterday, I spent the morning volunteering as an official for the Civic Games. The newspaper foundation invited high school teams from around the state to compete with their knowledge of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. It was a fun day hanging out some very intelligent young adults. They had to take a written test, give a presentation, and be interviewed by actual judges (like real court judges). I proctored and scored the tests. These games were started to help our younger generation do better than current American adults. Right now, less than half of US adults can name all three branches of government, and most cannot name the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. Over half of US adults continue to assert incorrectly that Facebook is required to let them express themselves freely on its platform under the First Amendment.

Then in the afternoon, I was trying to finalize logistics for one of our speakers who is coming to Kansas to present a two-day leadership workshop. He's great in person and our people will love him. But oh my... he's a DIVA on the back end of things. Must fly first class. Must have a CAR SERVICE to pick him up and drive him around. Um... we are Kansas. We are rural. We don't have things like car services in the areas where we're having our training. So I guess I will be his car service on his arrival, and my CEO will be his driver back to the airport. I need to now find a hotel in the area with a King SUITE... um.. not sure any of the hotels in the small rural community have suites, but I'll give a go.

Since today is Good Friday, our office will pretty much be a ghost town. It will probably only be myself here this morning. Maybe one or two other employees might come in later today. But maybe not. Since we're not open to the public, it doesn't really matter. But this afternoon, I'm going to get my hair cut, and then I'm taking three of the local college kids out to our local zoo. They've never been and it's going to be a lovely day. So I'm looking forward to that.

Tomorrow, I'm heading to my brother's house (about 2.5 hour drive). We'll celebrate Easter, as well as the two April birthdays. We'll also hide eggs for the great-nephew. Since he's not quite two years old yet, I don't think we'll need to hide many eggs for him to be happy. LOL.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

My Hubby is really particular about readers too but I will listen to just about anyone...lol. I do love a good English accent to though because I don't hear it often in the states!

It is a ghost town here too! Wish I had taken the day off instead but then I have to see patients in their homes this afternoon which I love!

AND THEN!!!! My Daughter is coming home from college this weekend! I can't wait to see her! We are going to spend the day tomorrow shopping. It one of our favorite things to do together these days since we are not off to this dance completion or that dance concert! We would normally go to Augusta, GA to go shopping but it is currently inundated with golfers, golfer lovers, and more golfers as that is where the Master's Golf tournament is being played so we are going to head to Columbia, SC instead!

I'm with you Michelle, I sorta don't bother with the quotes and just bold the names and move on. hehehe...

MY GOODNESS you're busy Shana! Love the Civics Games concept. Wish more kids would get involved in something like that. Maybe could solve some of the problems going on in our world. But, don't get me started. Love you talking about your small town and the diva arriving. Some people's expectations are just ridiculous, but we adapt.

So excited to hear about everyone's plans for the weekend. It's great to have family around. We'll be headed over to Lacy and Nick's for dinner on SONday. Traditional ham and fixin's after an egg and treat hunt in their backyard. She loves doing things up like that. It's supposed to be a glorious day which will be quite a change from the snow, sleet and rain we've had for the last week!

HAPPY EASTER!

Gosh, you all sound like you are having a busy week. I haven't been too busy this week but I am planning a big Easter Sunday. My son will be here with the two youngest Grand children, the two oldest will be coming, and I will go pick up my Mother in the morning. I am just hoping that the weather will be nice and not rainy.

All of the kids are out on spring break next week so I will be keeping the two youngest for Monday and Tuesday. Sassy (the dog) will love having them around as they spend a lot of time in the back yard with her. I have a procedure at the hospital on Wednesday - out patient and then the rest of the week will be resting and getting as much scrapbooking done as I can.

So - whatever your next week is like, I hope you go into it with an open mind and an open heart. Have a great one!

The online class for the iPHONE is taught by Emil. He is wonderful for sure!!!

Funny thing about accents....when I read the posts in this thread, you all speak with an Aussie accent :D
I do have problems making out what I'm hearing if the person has an accent other than English or Aussie, I even struggle with the American accent at times. If I need to phone a helpline for anything, I often cannot understand what I hear and have to ask them to speak slowly or put me on to someone who does not speak with an accent...horribly politically incorrect in these times but necessary. I use the closed captions on all TV shows.

Happy Easter to all those who observe it. Stay safe and well, enjoy the company of family and friends if you are able.

Happy Easter Friday, ladies. I spent a few hours in bed resting (tweaked my back as we were ripping apart the pool platform but I'm fine now, lying in bed with a heating pad settled it down. I made good use of the time and caught up on FBI and FBI Most Wanted. We planned our Easter dinner. Jen is going to cook a turkey stuffed with a keto stuffing she found online. I'll make cauliflower mash and salad. She's going to make fathead buns (keto recipe) and a gluten free pumpkin loaf. For anyone not low carb/keto, that would probably gross you out but for us, we love it. We are used to low carb foods.

I'm charging up my battery pack for the phone so it'll be ready for the trip at the end of the week and am going to off load my camera pics to be sure I never run out of space for new pics on my phone during the cruise.

This last week before we go will be busy.
