Welcome to the “Spicy Motivators”

This is the place to be encouraged and give encouragement to those who want to share a goal they desire to achieve.

You might need encouragement in exercising more (that’s me). You might want to do more walking. You might need encouragement to eat healthier or lose some weight. Your desire might be to cook more home cooked meals. Maybe you need some push to get more memory pages scrapped or maybe a desire to do more other crafts like sewing, yarn crafts or painting.

In the next post I will be sharing a chart on which I will place the names of those who want to sign up and be a Spicy Motivator. At the end of each week, you can all share if you achieved all or some of your goals for that week. I will take note of what you share and that week I will add a smiley to the chart for you. I possibly will not update the actual chart here in the forum each week – maybe at the end of the month or midway during the month. If anyone notices that I have missed their post about achieving a weekly goal in that I have not added a smiley that week, please send me a Private Message so I can add that deserved smiley.

Now I would like anyone wanting to sign up to say so in this thread. We will get started next month (October). When you sign up, please share what it is you need encouragement with. You can come along and join us at any time. This thread will cover us to the end of the year.

So, who wants to join me?

Due to my crazy life away from the computer I have made the decision to not keep an updated chart on how we are going with our goals.

However I still want to keep this thread active for us to encourage and motivate each other. At the start of next year I will start a new thread with possibly starting a new one every second month to make it easier to read back through what is shared.

Oh fun! I'll be spicy :)

I've just recently started setting small weekly goals for myself and building on them slowly. This week my goals were to take three walks, do stretches most days, and go to bed before midnight. More accountability is always good! (also I need to go to bed, LOL)

Since I already smell that way, I might as well be a spicy motivator. (Warning...I like garlic and onions LOL)

Oh gee...where do I begin:
I need to do more aerobics in my workout.
And I need to get my glucose count down before my next blood test. (That means less sugar in my diet...ugh!)

I'll join! I've been scrapping for over 10 years and need to improve my layouts as they all seem to be same old same old.
I need to use some of the 100's of fonts that are sitting in a folder, improve my shadows and be more artistic.
Of course I also need to loose weight, cook more and eat healthier but I probably won't. :shh

I'll be SPICY!!! (I'm already spicy... ask my husband!)

I've been working from home for the last almost two years now, so I'm not getting even the minimal walking that I used to and I NEED TO GET MOVING MORE. My knees are shot. (truly, arthritis) So, walking is painful anyway. But I need to move more. I need to eat less. I would like to eat heathier, but hubby cooks most of the meals since he's retired and loves to cook. I try not to discourage that by suggesting alternatives. Of course, scrapbooking and card-making don't help get me off my arse either! LOL.

This is my spot to report my spiciness (or lack thereof)
Oct 2-8
Busy with DSD of course but did go through a font file and get rid of some. Also looked at a shadow tut. More coming.
Update:
I played with shadows on the ribbon in this layout.
https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/showphoto.php?photo=579334&title=precious-girl&cat=500
I duplicated the ribbon, made the under one black, nudged it down and left
put a gaussian blur on it and then nudged parts of it with the smudge tool.
Update:
Cleaned one panel of my 6 panel bay window!
Vacuumed living room and hallway. That wore me out and had to take a nap.
Update:
Used a new font Tropical Forest on a layout.
https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/showphoto.php?photo=579745&title=fun-with-leaves&cat=1102
Also used it for a lot of journaling on another layout but can't leave a link as it's on another site.

Oct 9-15
Well, this challenge is taking a LOT of time. And really inspiring my mojo. This week I'm going to clean out my long unvisited actions file and play with the ones I'm keeping. I also have organized my kits on one site and am keeping track of when I use
them. (and deleting a few) gasp!!!! But after 10 years you can imagine the number I have.
Update:
Did some more work with my actions file-found a couple I really like. Also did a couple of A-M's challenges and worked some
more keeping track of when I used kits. A pattern is emerging: which ones I used a lot and some I haven't used. (Gasp!)
Update:
Worked more on organizing kits. At that site I have 105 kits a lot of which I've used 5 or 6 times so I think I'm getting my money's worth. I tallied for 2 years of layouts.
Used an action on a layout
https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/showphoto.php?photo=580714&title=any-gold&cat=1106
Used another action on a layout
https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/showphoto.php?photo=580971&title=churchill-downs&cat=1097
Took me 4 days to do this layout about a lot of actions but I refer to it a lot already to see what I can use for a layout.
https://gallery.gingerscraps.net/showphoto.php?photo=580972&title=my-actions-folder&cat=1107
Used a couple new fonts at other sites.
And that concludes my week 2 and I am worn out!
Oct 16-22
Need a break from scrapping so going to do Fall Housecleaning this week Today we replaced the dinning room chair covers
from soiled beige to burgandy. It looks like a brand new dining set.
update
didn't do anything else but enjoy the nice weather.
last week Oct- laziness has overtaken me. Going to take it easy.

Here's my spot. And just like glitter on my craft project, I'm sticking to it.

Week of Oct 2nd: I added the aerobics and did very well there all week.
After my initial slip of keeping my sugar level down with the coffee cake, I gave most of the remaining pastry to hubby. So did a good job this week, but not perfect.

Week of Oct 9th: In spite of a huge lack of ambition and motivation, I managed to keep up with the aerobics. I use a treadmill to complete my exercise routine on an incline. The highest setting is 10 and for the first time in four years I was using the 9.5 setting for the last part of my routine. This is a huge break through for me.

Week of Oct 16th: Yay...I kept up with the aerobics AND hit the 9.5 setting on the treadmill incline several times! Since I have curtailed my intake of sugar, my clothes are a slight bit more loose. Wouldn't it be amazing to actual lose some of these extra pounds?! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Week of Oct 23rd: A bit more difficult for me to keep up with everything because hubby took a few days off work and we drove to the other house in Indiana. My DD had surgery yesterday and my best friend fell in her home and wasn't discovered for two days. She's now in a health center and rehab after surgery earlier in the week. We did get to visit both of them.
I did manage a few days on the treadmill and I've been watching my sugar intake. All in all, I think I did just fine for the week.

Week of Oct 30th: Back to my normal routine this week and completed every day with walking, small weights training and aerobics. Not always so easy when I'm not in the mood, but I did it. Yay!

Week of Nov 6th to Nov 18: Very difficult lately staying motivated, but I completed all my stretches, tread mill routines and small weight lifting. I haven't baked any goodies for weeks. I'm happy that my glucose is finally down!

Week of Nov 18 to Nov 30: Life got very hectic and very tiring. So didn't get on the treadmill as often and did bake a pumpkin pie. Resolved to keep my exercising up and glucose down in Dec. At least until Christmas when it's too tempting not to be naughty. LOL

Week of Dec 1: Yay...got back on track or should I say tread mill. It really helps to get in the "zone" and remember how good it feels to have strength back in my upper legs. And my clothes are fitting better too. Win! Win!

Gonna start mine here... We'll see how it goes

:(
walking on monday... training pcas and then out to lunch with my mom and some dear-old friends.
:)
walking on tuesday... around the grocery store, but walking nonetheless. LOL
:)
walking on wednesday... was walking thru an elementary building for PCA/time study training again... getting CATCH those $$!
Now, off to a scrapbooking weekend, so don't know how much moving we'll be doing once we get there... hehehe...

Busy with DSD of course but did go through a font file and get rid of some. Also looked at a shadow tut. More coming.

Barbara, how did you work out what fonts to get rid of? Did you have to look at them all individually to decide?

I have a psd file with a lot of journaling and some titles and I check out the fonts on that to see how they look. Some have no punctuation, or aren't easy to read. Also a lot are similar so I choose the one I like best. You have to look at most of them individually because sometimes they look good when you download them but when used smaller or as journaling they just don't work. The fonts are shown at size 48 or size 60 and so look good but when made smaller for journaling (size 24 or 18) a lot of them loose their appeal.

I baked a coffee cake (should have known better...but...but I like to bake)
Anyway...glucose level soared after breakfast this morning...sigh.

However I did add more aerobics to my workout yesterday...so...maybe I'm breaking even as of today?

Updated my spot
Barbara, I did not want to share this in the gallery in the comments as others would see it ... your ribbon looks so very realistic but then your precious on the hearts is not so good. If I was you, I would move the precious off the hearts ( leave them there) and place the precious on the paper.

I’m here, thanks for the reminder in the waffle thread.

after the abrupt end to activity outside the home due to covid restrictions I just kind of got into the sitting and binging shows and scrapping. Totally became deconditioned which is not good at all.

in order to motivate myself I looked into “virtual races”. I found one outfit called yes.fit with an app, that will record mileage, you register for a race, and it’s all virtual, paired with Google 3-d photos. Hope that makes sense. The first race I chose was one taking place in Churchill manitoba, and was calls, lights, bears and belugas. Because alexis loves the North I bought the medal with intentions of giving it to her when completed. This is motivation for me. I finished that one and she loves the medal.

to specify I don’t run, I walk with intention.

im onto my second race now which is a sea turtle one, I love the ocean, it’s set in the philipines. The 3-d views as I check out each of my stop parts is breathtaking. A few scuba businesses, ocean, palm trees, very very interesting. I am 4 miles from finishing it. I typically walk 1-1.5 miles a day.

I have a zombie race set to start once I’m done sea turtles. This motivates me. And alexis has started walking and finished her first race already, it motivates her. She is out at night on our street.

Welcome Yvonne, to our Spicy Motivators group.
Wow! you have started well this month with your walking and yoga. You are an inspiration to us because of what you do even though you suffer back pain.

I have updated our chart which you can find HERE

As I have not seen an update by Jennifer (hclappy), I have not given her a smile. Everyone is doing so well. I gave myself a small smile as I only did some form of exercise 4 times in the week.

Well, the weekend went pretty well. Didn't move as much as I wanted to, but more than I expected to.
Had to load and unload the car twice, walked to and from the lodge several times, meals were served upstairs so I TOOK the stairs every time (which is huge for me and my arthritic knees!!!), our room and the bathroom were considerably further away than they are in my house, so all of those steps combined... I was quite happy with my getting around.

AND I took a couple of VERY short walks around the lodge to see what the camp looked like.
THIS was my view......... while I was scrapping! Can you imagine, I had a really hard time getting ANYTHING done!!!
yCsa22W.jpg

Walked a bunch on Monday too... training pcas in two different buildings. GO ME!
Not much going on Tuesday.
Buncha running around Wednesday and picked up the grands from school... YAY!

Carla, that is a nice view you had. Sounds like you got a lot of walking in... well done!

Do I ever hurt today everywhere, after being out in the cooler wind yesterday with the higher humidity. I did not go out today because it was wet all day, but not white wet, thankfully.

Sherri, by white wet do you mean "snow"? It rained here today also on the other side of the world to you. I hope your hurt eases.

Thank you for this accountability-motivator-thread. I joined gingerscraps almost 3 years to get digikits and learn how to do digital scrapbook pages...because my goal at that time was to do a 'simple - journal style-with a few photos' photobook summarizing our 35 years with highlight of activities and what happened in what year. I have lots of random layouts done, learned a lot....BUT, not a single page done for my original goal.

SO my GOAL until the end of December is to do a 2 page spread (1 year) each week. The rest of this week I will get my notebook with my written outline out and a 'starting page' letter to our kids.

Deb, that is a great goal to have. I still have 2016 monthly pages I have never finished with only completing two months so you have inspired me to get busy and finish those. I will add you to the chart so the next time I share an update you will see yourself added.
