Through the past few weeks I&rsquo;ve been sharing with everyone my amazing journey down the yellow brick road of life. I have shared my highs, and my lows, and everything in between. This week&rsquo;s challenge really got me to thinking. I haven&rsquo;t had a pet since 2008 when my husband and I got engaged. With the busyness of life we haven&rsquo;t had a chance to adopt a new puppy; however as soon as our youngest is out of diapers we are planning on making that very special addition to our family. Looking back it's funny how life seems to work out just right. While my dog was getting older and sick she stayed by me until I had someone in my life that would stay by my side, my husband. She died about a month after we got engaged. I guess if I were to write a book this would be a prequel to the previous 3 weeks worth of stories. 
The Journaling Reads:
 
 
You were the dog that almost wasn&rsquo;t. I remember the day my sister and I went and picked you out. You were the cute, little black dog amidst a litter of beige dogs. We brought you home let you run around and have fun, until dad came home. He was not as happy to see the small puppy running around the house. We have had dogs before and dad just didn&rsquo;t want another one. It was a minor argument between my dad my sister and I, but in the long run my sister and I won, and the dog was there to stay. To make my dad feel he was part of it all we allowed him to name her, he chose &ldquo;Rag-a Muffin&rdquo; or &lsquo;rags&rsquo; for short because she looked like a black dish rag. Although my sister and I thought we should call the dog &ldquo;Pug-ugly&rdquo;. She was so cute she was ugly with her face that looked like she ran face first into a wall.
Time went on and &lsquo;Rags&rsquo; turned from a family dog to my dog. She was there for me after hard days at school, and while I wasn&rsquo;t able to take her to college with me she was there whenever I came home on school breaks. She was a loyal, loving, and excitable dog till the very end. I was heartbroken when I heard she had passed away. My poor finance, (my now husband) was dog sitting for me while I was on vacation. He typically would call me a couple of times a day to see how things were going; I was a little caught off guard when he didn&rsquo;t call me at all that morning. By the time the afternoon came up I decided to call him to see if he was okay, he told me he was just busy earlier and things were just fine. It was merely seconds after I got off the phone with him when my sister came into the cabin, tears running down her face. She told me the horrible news, my dog had passed away. The reason my husband never told me was he didn&rsquo;t want to ruin my vacation, and he didn&rsquo;t have time to call me that morning because he took the day off of work and drove over an hour to my parents&rsquo; house to bury &lsquo;rags&rsquo; in the backyard. 
We do plan on adding a dog to our family as we travel down the yellow brick road of life. My husband and I feel it is important to have a family pet, and when we do pick out our puppy I want to make sure it has the same wonderful personality as &lsquo;rags&rsquo;.

This is an awesome page. I love the design. The story is great and I like how you tied it into the other pages that you have done for all the challenges. Fun dog and great story. Love the elements and colors that you used and the clusters and layering are awesome.. ok so the whole page is AWESOME!

Lovely journaling. The placement of the journaling with the arrows crossing the page and leading the eye to the sweet picture is wonderful.

When I first read this, I laughed, then cried then smiled. What a touching account. You writing is beautiful and quite descriptive. Your layout is stunning. You are awesome and really know how to pull together the visual with the written word.
