On my mother’s side of my family I have ancestors from Ireland. This is not my
grandfathers side but my grandmother. I remember my mother always saying they
were the “Carmody’s”. I did a web search on this name and came up with the
following information: The Carmody family originates from the province of
Munster in Ireland, with deep historical roots specifically in County Clare,
where they served as hereditary brehons (judges) for the O'Brien clan.
