Straight out of Boot Camp he was sent to the front lines in Korea. He was in the major Battles Bloody Ridge, Heartbreak Ridge and the Punch Bowl. He was wounded and went to medical base then sent right back into the front lines. He never got his medals because he was headed home on a train and ended up getting called up again. I never knew any of this until about 10 years or so ago after my Son had come home from the Iraq War and at a welcome home party it was like the flood gates opened and he told me all this. I wrote every and anybody I could think of to get his medals finally a Senator got them and gave them to him we were not able to attend as it was last minute. But he was so proud and honored to finally receive them. I remember him telling me the one time in the fox hole he had to play dead he dragged one of buddies body over him and thank God the North Koreans bought it. But even at 88 years old he still had nightmares of the battles.,
