how sad to lose a piece of your personal history, but like you said, the memories and friends you made are forever :) Great blocked LO.

It's a shame to lose a beautiful building like that. All that brickwork smashed by a bulldozer. Even that lovely keystone arch, I'll bet. Other cultures find ways to refurbish old buildings, but in the U.S. we tear things down willy-nilly and then tear up new land instead of using the old. Sorry ... my 2nd husband is an architect so I've heard lots of tales. He fought hard to get several buildings in our hometown put on the National Registry, all to no avail.
Thank goodness you took photos and have created an incredible document to preserve the memories you have of your old school. My elementary school met the same fate. I wasn't there when it happened, but my mother saved the newspaper clippings for me. With that high security fence, you couldn't even save a brick or two to make a doorstop or bookends. :) I like how you arranged your photos as well as added the date, some ephemera, and your heartfelt journaling, of course. Bless your heart! You have a sweet, sensitive soul. :)
