This is a depiction of the way the warriors were found - covered in fine dirt and woven mats, both of which were done at the time of creation in order to preserve the entourage that was to accompany the Emperor in the afterlife. Each warrior had a different face, believed to represent a specific person in the Emperor’s court or armies. Their clothing, shoes & headware help determine the role that each person served. When created, the statues were brightly colored, but as they have been uncovered, the paint is remaining in the protective dirt. The display lighting mimics the lighting in the Great Tomb
Wouldn't it have been amazing to see them in all their glory! They are one of the wonders of the world, I think. Your page is so beautifully designed. The blending in the background is lovely, the patterns are pretty and the clusters beautiful. The pleasure of this page, though, is that nothing takes away from the great pictures.

I visited this site waaaay back in the 80s when China first opened. Interesting to see the current exhbit and read more about them. You found some great kits to create a beautifully cohesive page.

That would be an interesting place to see! Great collection of photos and journaling, and use of the challenge font.
