Your layout touched my heart deeply as I too have faced the "empty nest" issue, and I'll probably continue to face it for the rest of my life. I see great hope in your design, though. Yes, there's "white space," but it's a very positive golden color. And the wordart, journal card, and birdhouse are all forthright signals, so you are brave, too. I think you will do very well in the coming years, just like I have.
