Yes, just a flashlight, a dark room and your camera set to extremely slow shutter speed, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_painting . I remember making the red heart by draping a red shawl over my flashlight and then quickly taking it off again for the L. I needed about 7 shots before I finally got this one right, writing an N with light in mirror image is confusing...
