If Only I had a Cure

Journaling: February 4, 1999 our lives changed forever. I took Rachel (18 months old) to the pediatrician and heard the words I feared most, +ldquo; She has Type 1 diabetes.+rdquo; We headed to the hospital where we spent 5 days learning our new normal.&
wow can only imagine...seems to me you're brave as well though! Lovely page, great design and gorgeous photo! x

this is fabulous! those of us who don't know what it is like to live with a child with diabetes have learned a lot by reading your journaling..love how you added the little photos of your daily rituals.. Thanks for sharing

Wow, 18 months, that would have been so hard for both of you. Love that you can see the subway art paper behind your journaling and photo.

Wouldn't it be great to find that cure. Love the use of the subway art paper work that helps tell your story.

Love the blend - I also love that you used the word star 'so brave" because that is exactly what your sweet little girl is - and so are you!! Love the ribbon and ricrac under your title. Great job!

I did not realize she was so young when diagnosed. Your composition is fantastic. Love the large blended photo and the layering of the focus pictures showing what is involved. I too hope for a diabetes cure.

I think the world needs sooo many cures!! Hopefully one day we will find them all. Gorgeous page

I can't imagine being in her shoes, or yours as the parent! I love the smaller photos off to the side of the process.

So many suffer this way and I can agree with you that I wish there were a cure!

Amazing page and story. Diabetes is such a hard thing to understand and you have done a great job explaining the things that you deal with every day. Fantastic design.

What a beautiful girl and I'm so glad that even though she has diabetes she has medication and a mom that cares for her so much! It must be a worry for you when she heads off to college when you have looked after her for so long. I love your titlework, heartfelt journaling and the bottom cluster. So pretty! Just a beautiful page!

Aww!! That teared me up! You and Rachel are both so much stronger for this!

Lovely cluster work, Missi. Great idea to put it right out there so folks know what living with a diabetic or having diabetes is like. Now that I am diabetic and have to do those shots.. I remember the days when I hated needles and shots. Just about backed out of a doctor's window. I'm sure your daughter will do fine in college! You've done a marvelous job caring and teaching her. I have to find out what that alpha is! I've seen it several times now.. I want!!

Hugs to you and your daughter. Good luck!!

If Only!! I love your blending on your large photo and then the close-ups of what she has to go through.

This is such a lovely page, and truly heartfelt journaling. I love the cluster along the bottom and the three circular photos over the large blended photo. Great title!
