Rich got me into playing the ukulele. He had seen a movie and the lead character was playing “You Are My Sunshine” on a ukulele. Rich taught himself to play the guitar when he was a teen; he had also played the saxophone in our high school marching band. He wanted to get back into music and decided a uke was easier to play than a guitar (4 strings vs 6). He thought it would be a fun thing we could do together, when we travel in the trailer, or just sitting around home or in the yard. 3 years ago we got our ukes and have joined 2 local ukulele players groups. We perform at senior centers, the county fair, and at the state capitol!
I will admit, I gave the uke a try. Just could not get the drift of awkward (for me) wrist bend to hold the frets. Here in Hawaii, I often see kids (teens) waking home from school casually strumming their uke. So fun. Great story and I love the addition of the rising notes w the bg paper border covered with them.
