It was 1978 and my parents too Ed and I and our first baby to Disney World in Florida. We rented a car and drove along the Atlantic coastline. This was my first time to ever see the east coast and being a new mother I asked to get out of the car and walk on the beach with my new little daughter. I walked through the sand introducing her to life at the ocean. It didn't matter that she didn't understand, but that I was doing this for the first time with her. But as I got back to the car I found that I had stepped on a tar ball that was stuck to my foot. Now to most people, you would wipe it off and move on, but this was not the way of my mother.
She yabbered on and on about the mess, that I should have not gotten out to walk the beach, that I was going to get the rental car dirty, and on and on. What was a beautiful moment between myself and my new baby girl, my mother once again spoiled the moment, not only for me, but for my dad and my husband as well. And still to the day when our only trip to Disney World is brought up, this is what we remember. Thankfully, my daughter has no recollection of the day or the moment and for that I am grateful. It runed a good time.
