Potlatch

The Athabascan Stickdance is held for one week every March by the Athabascan Indians of Alaska.
A potlatch in Alaska is a traditional ceremonial feast practiced by Indigenous peoples, such as the Tlingit and Athabaskan, to mark major life events, honor the deceased, and distribute wealth to strengthen community ties. Alaska Native groups each have their own way of celebrating potlatches.

On our cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage, our first stop was Ketchikan where we had the pleasure of visiting Potlatch Park, a popular tourist site featuring totem poles and a clan house and witnessed artists carving new totems.

I really like the information that you included on the page. I also like the series of pictures that you shared as well, that sounds like a really nice opportunity.

such a lovely LO, I lived in Ketchikan for 5 years and loved it. I still have friends and family there. I miss the potlatches and native dancing.
