Journaling:
The week started slowly, spending time together in our living room, watching TV and enjoying one another’s company. We spent time getting ready for the week ahead that would see Jason in respite care, Guinness staying with Rory, Dozer and Loki and Michelle in Paris for the SDG4 High Level Steering Committee Sherpa group meeting. There was a lot of planning going on and making of lists and instructions to be sure everyone was adequately cared for during the week away.
Dylan came over Saturday and we played a good game of Warhammer 40K, the first in which he has beaten his mother since we started playing at Christmas. We made double-layer tacos with pulled pork, refried beans and serrano chilis for lunch. The InstantPot is amazing for making pulled pork in about 2 hours total. The double-layer tacos were at Jason’s request as they are one of his favourites and since he will be at the Santa Maria for 8 days, we wanted a meal he would enjoy and remember while eating care-home food. Laura got a cute raincoat with matching boots for Thomas and he is absolutely thrilled at being a duck - complete with lots and lots of quacking! Hopefully he enjoys wearing it out in the spring weather that is supposed to be coming very soon. On Monday Guinness went to Rory’s and I took my suitcase to Laura’s. Tuesday morning saw us getting Jason to respite care and then me to the airport and finally, on Wednesday, I arrived in Paris. The hotel is right by the Arc de Triomphe and is a great location for getting just about anywhere quickly and easily.
