I had always wanted to make a quilt. I collected jeans for a year, cut 323
circles, sewed them together, and made the top. I selected a red back
for it, some batting, and sewed it together with my sewing machine.
I washed it a few time to frey the edges. It turned out so cozy!
The final product weighed 15 lbs! It took about a month.

Things I learned:
1. I need a scissors with good grips to prevent blisters.
2. You do not pre-wash 100% cotton batting- the sales-lady told me
to, and when it was shredded and unusable, I was able to get my
money back and they told me the initial sales lady was wrong and
I should have had synthetic batting from the start.
3. My sewing machine is too small to quilt a large size like this!

Excellent Laura on completing the quilt in a month. and totally agree with what you learned #1 and #3..I've done a couple blue jean quilts. I really like your varied photos and word strips to describe them.

What an awesome project!! Your quilt looks wonderful and I really appreciate your step by step photos ad journalling telling the story of the quilt, a fantastic memory page to look back on and definitely a family heirloom in the making, both quilt and this LO! The plaid bg mimics a patchwork quilt, fun choice. I like the inclusion of the reel of thread. Super LO, great job with the challenge template.
