We moved into a new house on May 4, 1970 - the day before Tanya’s birthday. She had been looking forward to a party - but we were far away from her friends now. I had seen children playing but didn’t know where they lived, so I simply walked to the closest houses to us and invited any children they might have for cake and ice cream Saturday afternoon in the yard, no presents needed, and parents were welcome, as well. We had a lovely turnout and most brought a card with $1 in it for the birthday girl, or a small present. Tanya made friends and we all enjoyed cake. Wonderful neighbors!
What a clever way to handle the move. Fun use of B&W against bright and pretty colours. Love the design and journaling with all the pretty elements throughout.
That is such a great way to get to know the new neighbors and a spectacular way to turn something that could have been difficult into a treasured memory. I really like the way that these colors go with the black and white photos.
If that's not the greatest memory, I don't know what is. I miss those days when people didn't have to be so suspicious. Things have changed over the years and now you are lucky if you can get friends to show up. Fantastic looking layout using the black and white photos.
