Lots of Schools!
Links, Credits & Journaling

I went to a lot of schools. Until I was in the 4th grade, my dad was in the US Army. After that he became a contractor, mostly in the aerospace industry. Mom & Dad’s wedding was delayed
in 1942 when Dad was shipped out after the marriage license had been issued. Mom’s attitude after that was that she didn’t get married so Dad could live in one place while she lived in another. When Dad even went TDY, we all went whenever possible. We didn’t go with him to the Yukon when he was sent there in 1950 and we didn’t go with him to Korea later that year. Instead, we went to Nebraska. I’m a little fuzzy about the early years of my schooling, but that year, I know I changed schools. In 1952, I was in school in Kansas - 2 schools & 1 in Georgia. The 1st school in Kansas was a 1-room school for elementary children. It had no running water and an outhouse. 4th grade - 2 schools in Kansas. 5th grade - Kansas & Ohio. 6th grade - Ohio, 2 schools in Canada (1 was a 3-room school, all grades) then back to Ohio, different school. 7th grade - Ohio & Tennessee. 8th grade - Tennesse & Virginia. 9th grade - 2 schools in Virginia. 10th grade - 2 schools in Virginia, including the one that I spent my junior and senior years. My graduating class was very large - 341 graduates, We held our graduation at Constitution Hall. So - I had a lot of experience with different school systems. Ohio had the best infrastructure and curriculum, in my opinion. In Canada, some of the things I had covered the year before were being taught, so... In the much smaller schools, the teachers often didn’t quite know what to do with me during reading lessons. Sometimes they would have me help younger students with their reading and sometimes they just ignored me and I read a library book. I went to college in Florida, South Carolina and the University of Maryland extension in England. I never quite know what to say when anybody asks me where I went to school, so I usually just say “everywhere”. I loved it until I got to high school. My younger siblings continued the moving.
Thank you for sharing this. I didn't go to that many schools but for my 4 years of high school I went to 6 schools, 3 of which was 9th grade, a different one each year for 10th, 11th, and 12th. I was fortunate to go to the same school for 1st to 3rd, and then another one for 4th to 6th.

I couldn't imagine going to that many different schools. It must have been neat to get to experience so many different schools, but also difficult because of the way that curriculums are so different from place to place.

Wow what an interesting story Connie, my two schools followed by business college pales by comparison. thank you for including the journalling in the LO description, Im pleased I scrolled down first...I often squint at pages to try and read the story on the LOs themselves and THEN find out it has been included in the description...duh!! Beautiful border work on this page.
