Cross country trip

This May and June we took the longest road trip of my life. We drove from California’s central coast to Naples, Florida and back. We celebrated 1 college, 1 high school, and 1 pre-K graduation, held our middle daughter close, visited cousins and their son, our godson. We drove Route 40 which basically is follows Route 66 until Oklahoma where 66 veers north toward Chicago. From OK City we drove to Georgia and stayed a week to celebrate all the graduations. After that we started south and drove to Treasure Island, FL (a barrier island off St. Petersburg) where our middle daughter lives. We just held and spent time with her while encouraging her not to give up the fight to get a permit to rebuild her home which was hit by Helene and then 10 days later by Milton last year. She went with us to visit my cousins and their son who have been her shelter and surrogate parents since the hurricanes. And finally we drove back the same route to our home. I am making an album of the trip and this (with it’s left half) will be the first facing pages after the title page. It make take me a year!

I mostly used Across the USA by Scraps ’N Pieces and Route 66 by The Scrappy Kat. I used 1 or more pieces from Listen to the Music by Designs by Lisa Minor, Cleaning Day by Twin Mom Scraps, Daisies and Irises both by Aimee Harrison and 2 collabs by the Gingerbread Ladies Sunflower Fields (FWP right now) - and Shine Bright. It is all on a double page template from Cindy Schneider.
Wow!! What an adventure!! I've driven across the country one way and that was enough - round trip....ugh! But what a treasure trove of memories and photos you have to scrap. Love reading your two-pager start.

That sounds like quite the adventure, with a lot of exciting things to attend. I don't know that I would be able to handle a road trip that long.

I was not happy about the prospect, but our dog is elderly and on carefully timed meds and so we did it… I’ll be honest though, the love and joy at visiting all the grands, cousins, and especially our daughter in person was worth whatever we had to do. That said, I don’t want to do it ever again!
