Fort Gaines Adventure 3-8-25
Journaling: While we were outside enjoying the beach at the house we spied a large ship heading into Mobile Bay and decided we would go down to the East End to get a closer look and Calvin jumped at the chance to go with us. There are always lots of ships, mainly cargo type ships, going in and out of Mobile Bay but this one looked different than many that we have seen and we found out that it was a huge vehicle cargo ship from Norway. We watched it and other ships while exploring the area. Calvin loved climbing over all of the rocks along the shore. We walked across to Fort Gaines and Calvin also enjoyed climbing on all of the historic remains that are the grounds of the Fort. We also wandered across to the boardwalk over by the Estuarium. While over there we watched one of the Mobile Bay Ferries heading out to go over to Fort Morgan. We love Dauphin Island so much and enjoy the small town feel and all of the history of the area.
