Our Hero

My uncles plane was shot down over Germany in WWII and he was taken prisoner. He was in the infamous Stalag 17 POW camp from April 1944 until May 1945 when they were liberated by the allies. We were so lucky to have him returned to us, but unfortunately the experience remained with him all his life!

Great page. Thank you so much for explaining it. Your uncle was a hero. My grandfather was also in World War II. He didn't really talk about it that much. He was an ambulance driver and part of their job was to walk out in front of the ambulances and moved the dead bodies out of the way to get the ambulance through. He told my grandmother, that the only way he got through it was drinking. However, when he got back home, he never touched alcohol again. I know everyone is not that lucky.
You did a real beautiful job on this. I love all the shades of brown that you used and you really did a great job of making this template your own.

Thank you for your comments Lee, appreciate it.... my Dad also fought and was part of the D-Day invasion ... we were very lucky as well, he came back to us and always woud only share the funny stories ... until they were too old to travel his company of men had a reunion hosted in various veterans home states with all the wives and families every four years. They were the best of times, sadly the men are all gone now, but we have the memories!

Excellent creative vision to rotate this template. Love the look of the striped and darker color paper strip tucked into the space behind the light curved paper border. And also the overall monochromatic feel of the page. Love the addition of the historical barracks photo to supplement this military tribute page. Thank you also for the additional information. My dad was also a WWII veteran but thankful never a prisoner.
