Journal Reads:
As always, we ended the old year well with our family traditions.

I baked mincemeat pies for the fourth year. This has always been my mother's task, but now she is gone, it rests on my shoulders to carry on the tradition. All the other years, I have struggled with the pastry, but this year, I made them with Mary Berry's recipe and they were excellent.

At midnight, Rand took the old year out at the first stroke of 12. He hurried around the building, and brought in the New Year on the last stroke. He always brings in a silver coin for prosperity. I have quite a collection.

I greeted him at the door with mince pies and Grand Marnier, then we toasted the new year and took our picture in front of the tree. After we sent the family Happy New Year wishes, James called from England and I was able to Facetime with the whole family there. It was a treat.

It was a wonderful New Year’s Eve

That is such a lovely photo of the two of you, the black scallop framing is so dynamic and the oval shape is elegant, I like the impact of that black along with the black title. The masking behind the photo is a really nice detail and I always enjoy reading about your New Year tradition....may Rand always be able to make the run around the house in time to reach the front door by midnight!!

What a wonderful photo of the two of you and it sounds like a fantastic evening, I like that frame you used and the yellow border
