Hey crafty friends! ✂️🎨

We all know and love digital scrapbooking here at GingerScraps, but I’m curious - do you enjoy other crafts too? Many creative people have more than one crafty hobby, and I’d love to hear what everyone else is making!

So let’s chat… what are you crafting right now?

Are you working on a sewing project? Trying your hand at diamond (gem) art? Painting something fun? Knitting a cozy blanket or crocheting a cute toy? Maybe you’re building something out of wood or experimenting with a brand new craft.

Feel free to share things like:
  • Projects you’re currently working on
  • Crafts you recently finished
  • New crafts you’re learning
  • Photos of your creations if you’d like to show them off
  • Supplies or tools you’re loving lately
Some ideas could include sewing, gem/diamond art, painting, woodworking, knitting, crocheting, paper crafts, journaling, coloring, or anything else creative you enjoy.

Even though digital scrapbooking is our main crafty love here, it’s always fun to see what other creative projects everyone is working on. You might even inspire someone else to try a new hobby!

So tell us… what are you crafting these days? 🧵🧶✨

And one last note, if you find yourself ready to jump into the ongoing chatter thread, looking to grow some new friendships, pop into this thread: Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2026} Let's get to know each other!

So, I'm not really crafting a lot right now (other than scrapping). I did start doing some gem art, I'm having fun with that! I'm working on a big wall hanging for my granddaughter, I need to finish it by July for her birthday.

I have a personal goal to get a few albums finished, so when I have crafting time.... I'm going to be scrapping. I wanted to get them finished before Christmas, but ran out of time, so my new goal is before June. They are albums for the little kids in our family (my grandkids and my sisters grandkids and a nephew) Ages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. I do a "summer camp" each year, every week in June all the kids come over to my house for "Camp Gram Gram", a themed day of fun. I would love to give them each their album at the close of our 2026 camp. Wish me luck!!

I was super into coloring for a while, I got a bunch of coloring books and nice pens. So I might pick that up again sometime in the future.

I also want to start embroidery, I used to embroider when I was in my 20's I loved it. I think it is so cute to embellish pillows, jackets etc.

I always have lots of ideas, but not always time to do them all, LOL

A tale as old as time :ROFLMAO:

Each Tuesday morning, I do some sewing with a group called Uniforms 4 Kids . If you want to know what it is about visit HERE
Most of our group sit and unpick. One other lady and I sit and sew on machines. A few take home fabrics to sew and bring back to the group.
What I mostly sew are very simple little shorts. We have to use at least 50% uniform fabric ( this comes from used or out of date uniforms).
The clothes we make are not uniforms it is just clothing for children. What we make here in our town stays in this area of our state. Some groups the clothes may go overseas.
Here is one of the shorts I made recently:U4K shorts.jpg

Friday mornings I attend a group called "In Tunes" which many years ago was a group of ladies who sang but over time it evolved into a craft group. Nowadays the ladies just sit around a large table chatting while we work on whatever project we want to ( some knit, some crochet, some embroider and some just chat). I used to crochet cotton baby flip flops that I sold in the local craft store but my husband and I left that group just over 12 months ago so I am now using up the cotton I had purchased. It is good quality and I did not want to just give it away.
I am crocheting squares to sew together to make a cotton vest.

@GingerScraps thankyou for starting this thread.

Ugh, I have a bunch of things going on now! I finished my winter project of making a quilt out of jeans. It weighs 15 lbs! But it is cozy.

I am working on a cross stitch project, but set that down for a bit. I started painting. This is my latest acrylic painting of a photo I took while on vacation at Glacier National Park:

This weekend, I am at a scrapbook retreat. I brought all of my paper crafting supplies along and did 72 cards this weekend!

I guess a lot of this will be put to the side if my hubby keeps his promise and lets me have a garden this year ;-)

Wow have you been busy! 72 cards in one weekend - you must have had fun.

@deej I would love to see some of your crochet! Congratulations on your placing at the fair, that is always a super good feeling!

@A-M , I love the shorts, that is such a cool thing to do for your community! I can't wait to see how your vest turns out when you are done!

@laura.dulle WOW! You have been busy! I bet that quilt is so warm and its a big trend to have weighted blankets, I bet it is soothing! Such a beautiful painting too, and holy moly you made so many cards, I love it!

My crafting come in the form of digital scrapbooking, LOL.

Check out my gallery here: https://forums.gingerscraps.net/media/users/karendiamond.14159/

However, I am currently working on a Nature Adventure with two of my grandsons (ages 5 and 7). We rented a cabin for their first time camping experience, coming up within 2 weeks. Its only going to be for three days. Hubby and I are planning to do the "Junior Ranger" with them and since there is NO TV... or gaming system, I am planning other activities like collect nature items and make a name plate, picture frames, and leaf rubbings, along with finding things to paint with and well, I don't know as I am still planning..... any suggestions - I'm open for ideas!! My head has been swirling for a couple of days. :) We are so excited!!

@KarenDiamond that sounds fun. I did a scavenger hunt with my nieces and nephews. It included items like "find something red", or "take a photo of something natural that looks like a letter of the alphabet". It was fun.

Also, in Girlscouts, we had to make table centerpieces from items found in nature. That was a fun craft.

Another idea I just had from the scavenger hunt: see how many letter of the alphabet you can find in nature

@laura.dulle excellent ideas!! I was a GS leader like 25 years ago - I do remember having them make centerpieces for each table. It was a lot of fun. I didn't think about tapping into that since these are boys, lol. Silly me!! Kids are kids, lol
edit to add: Oh thank you so much!!

I'm a crocheter, but I've started learning Tunisian crochet, it's a cross between knitting and crochet. I've also started working with a loom I bought a couple of years ago, actually it's a small loom, about 80 cm long, and it's not as easy as I initially thought, but I love to learn new things.

SEVENTY-TWO CARDS @laura.dulle !!! Woah baby! Well done. I don't think I've ever finished 72 in one weekend, but I LOVE making cards. THAT is my passion. Message me your address and birthdate and I'll add you to my list. I love sending out cards to anyone who WANTS/NEEDS one. I've been so "out" of scrapbooking for awhile and card-making gives me that creative, paper outlet. Hoping it grooves me back into scrapbooking too.

I do a ton of crafting between everything else I am working on. I just joined a new paper crafting club. I have a few hundred cards that are part way put together and I need to finish them.

I use my cricut a lot for crafting. I make photo mats, tshirts, t-towels, bags, etc. I have a cuttlebug that I use for embossing and die-cutting. I do paper scrapbooking as well as regular scrapbooking.

I sew and embroider too.

Currently I am working on crafts for an upcoming fair. I wish I had pictures, but I do have this from last year. I am working on similar projects for the upcoming fair in June.

@KarenDiamond that sounds so fun!!! I LOVE this kind of stuff! I can probable go way overboard with ides if you want me to! hahaha

@Grace. that sounds intriguing! I would love to see some of your work!

@Carla minicooper452 I love that you have a card list <3 I rarely get cards in the mail but they always make my day!

@photocrazy my mom does some wool felting, she made a little family of mice and a wall hanging. She is a master crafter, she literally creates all day. Show us your felting when you start!

@FormbyGirl WOW girl! That is so cool! I wish I lived closer and I could come to your craft booth.

Here ya go @KarenDiamond :D:LOL:

Nature Exploration

  • Nature Scavenger Hunt - Make a list: pinecone, feather, smooth rock, something red, something that smells good, etc.
  • Bug Safari - Give them magnifying glasses and look for ants, beetles, caterpillars, and spiders.
  • Animal Track Hunt - Look for footprints, scat, feathers, chewed pinecones.
  • Listen to the Forest Game - Sit quietly for 1 minute and count how many sounds they hear.
  • Cloud Watching - Lay on a blanket and find shapes in the clouds.
  • Nature Bingo - Make a bingo card with nature items and they have to find them in and check them off. I just saw this concept on a reality survival show and it would be so fun to do with kids!
  • Treasure Map - Draw a simple map and hide a small prize.
  • Skip Rocks if there’s water nearby.

Crafty Nature Projects

  • Nature Bracelets - Wrap masking tape sticky-side out on their wrist and stick tiny leaves/flowers to it.
  • Rock Painting - Paint animals, bugs, or their initials on rocks.
  • Stick Dreamcatchers - Tie sticks in a circle and weave yarn with leaves and feathers.
  • Nature Collage - Glue collected items onto cardboard.
  • Pinecone Bird Feeders - Pinecone + peanut butter + birdseed. Hang in a tree.
  • Twig Picture Frames - Glue small sticks around cardboard frames.
  • Leaf Printing - Paint leaves and press them onto paper.
  • Make Walking Sticks and decorate them with paint or yarn.
  • Build a Fairy House or Gnome Village using sticks, moss, and rocks.
  • Build a Mini Raft out of sticks and float it in a stream or puddle.

Outdoor Games

  • Pinecone Toss - Toss pinecones into a bucket.
  • Stick Limbo - Two people hold a stick, kids bend under it.
  • Nature Obstacle Course - Jump over logs, balance on rocks, crawl under branches.
  • Camouflage Game - One child hides while others try to find them.
  • Shadow Tag - Tag someone’s shadow instead of their body.

Cabin Fun (Evenings or Rainy Time)

  • Flashlight Shadow Puppets
  • Campfire Story Time (each person adds one sentence to the story)
  • S’mores Bar - Different chocolates, cookies, or marshmallows
  • Draw What You Saw Today nature journal

Night Activities

  • Stargazing
  • Night Sounds Game - What animals can you hear?
  • Flashlight Firefly Hunt (if they’re in an area with them).
  • Glow Stick Ring Toss

Cute Memory Ideas

  • Nature Journal/Scrapbook - Each day they draw or tape in things they found. I made a nature journal on one of my summer trips as a kid, it was really one of my first scrapbooks! I had a composition notebook. I decorated the cover and then I saved things throughout each day and taped them and glued them onto the pages. Things like leaves feathers even popsicle, sticks or little wrappers for treats we had. I also drew pictures and wrote a little journaling each day. I WISH I still had it!! It got thrown away at some point in my life, but I totally still remember it and I treasured it for many years.
  • “Best Thing of the Day” Circle around the campfire.
  • Handprint in dirt or clay as a trip keepsake.

@GingerScraps
OMGoodness!! {as my grandson would say} I love it!! Thank you so much!!

I dusted of my very basic sewing machine and have been "upcycling" old T-shirts with flannel shirts. Basically, cutting the shirts into thirds so the middle section has the fun t-shirt graphic, but the sleeves are now long and made of flannel. I've had a lot of fun customizing these shirts that I didn't think I'd be able to wear again.

I've also been hanging corkboards to showcase my growing Disney pin collection. That hobby is taking over a lot of wall space! Ha!

I wanted to get into coloring as I have many different kinds of pens and pencils when I paper scrapped. So I have a little collection of coloring books and started a couple of pages. Easy to take with me! Then after unpacking and going through my two travel scrapbooking suitcases holding Creative Memories cutting system and all those collected papers and embellishments, it was around Christmas time. I had separated all my Christmas stuff out and decided to make Christmas cards for my co-workers and I got hooked. I've been making Christmas cards using all the stuff I had for Christmas and went out and even bought more! I'm going to see how many I can make before the holiday and maybe see if I can do a craft fair selling some.

That sounds so fun! I need to modify some of my shirts, my body shape is a pain, I have a really big butt, lol so most t-shirts won't fit like I want them too. I just got a few as bday gifts and I want to cut up the sides and insert a panel of fabric. I'm sure it won't be too hard. If you have time, I would love to see what you are doing with your shirts! That sounds cute!

I also want to make a cork board for my Disney pins! I have seen some in a cork cut into a mickey shape and then framed, it was so cute! My mom made me a special purse that I wear to Disneyland it displays about 15 pins, I LOVE it, but I have a lot more than that. LOL

I love that! I gave all my paper scrapping supplies away many years ago, I didn't even think about using them to make cards. Darn it.

I would love to see your pin purse! I bought a sling bag on Amazon that has a pin insert inside an acrylic zipped sleeve. That way, even if a pin becomes loose, I won't lose it. I use that section as my "display" pins, and then I carry small hand-sized pin boards for my traders.

Would LOVE to learn more about making my own cork boards. Hubby has a massive Star Wars collection and wants to make a giant (3-foot+) board of the Death Star to display them all. I've found ordering custom boards to be cost-prohibitive. So would love to learn more about other options.

Here is a collage of some of the shirts I "upcycled"... to date, I have modified 11 shirts and I've only destroyed two of them! LOL! I'm looking for other ideas besides plaid (like what I did for the Edna mode shirt). I also like having shirts with the longer sleeves to hide my "bat wings." I appreciate that I can continue to modify the shirts as my size continues to change. I'm now always on the lookout for shirts on clearance sales that I wouldn't feel badly to chop it up! LOL!
