Everyday Chatting & Waffling {2026} Let's get to know each other!

There are a lot of days like this! I manage the social media pages for Daughters of the British Empire and create posts for a bunch of those pages :). I do between 30-50 a month. They are fun. A lot of them seem silly, but have deeper meanings. I usually include an explanation of the day in my post. I was going to attach a pic, but it is too large. They are fun posts, though.

How is everyone’s weekend? It has been a pretty wild and crazy month since Jan 1st. I decided to start my own business and have been working on that. (Did I tell you this already?) Juggling life and the new business is interesting. I was already doing too much. Still, I can take on as much work as I like, or as little, and that is what I like!!

Today is a Sunday and I am giving myself a bit of rest and renewal. I have stuff I need to do, but I have decided I need to keep a day for resting or doing something fun.

We have just finished the mini series “The WInds of War” and we are working on “War and Remembrance.” I am hoping we get to watch a few episodes today. There are three football games, though, so heaven knows if we will have time. Rand is a football nut. I am in my craft room, in my comfy chair, ignoring him haha.

I like a good game of football, but not too much.

Lynnie, if you told us you were starting your own business, I totally missed it! So, what is your business? And yes, you do too much, but I know better than to talk you into slowing down! :) You are smart to keep Sunday for a day of rest and renewal. I like to do that, too.

We had football on at our house too. We turned it on after church and an attempted nap (by me). Hubby was productive and did a 3-mile walk. I also did my class forum posting. Yesterday was shopping, practicing the clarinet, and TV football and basketball.

It is a company making video slideshows. I may have linked one or two slideshows here and the company that I’m doing is very similar to that. The company is called EverLoom video. I have also started an Etsy shop for some English digital overlays that I created and some cards. I haven’t uploaded anything to the Etsy shop yet but should in the next couple of days.

All of the things that I do, I can work around babysitting and homeschooling. I have found that I do need a rest from time to time and took that today. It was lovely. I feel like I accomplished quite a bit, but I also feel as though I took a long rest.

Good luck with your new business, Lynnie!

We had a nice quiet weekend. I finished one Shutterfly book from some of our Disney adventures... but I had to label it "volume one" as not everything fit into one book! LOL! I also made two dishes that actually turned out decent (I am NOT a chef and my meals are usually described as "sustainable" LOL). I made a pulled pork dish and added ancho chilies to the crock pot for flavor, but then pulled them out before I shredded the pork. It's just the right amount of heat, so I was happy with that. I also made a taco soup that Randy really liked... which is good since the recipe made enough to last us for several meals. Win win!!!

The Grand Marnier sounds good. I have no idea what mincemeat pies are. My youngest son was in the hospital with cellulitis so I am afraid the holidays were not very merry for us. I did go out with a friend for a bit New Year's Eve to the ball drop in Ocean Springs. We got some hot chocolate and listened to the band for awhile but didn't stay long as it was pretty cold for us.

I am hoping that 2026 will improve as it goes along. January hasn't been very good to us.

The only reason I know what a mincemeat pie is... is because I watch the Great British Baking Show! LOL! They have so many treats on that show I've never heard of! It's so intriguing to see how different cultures will take basically the same core ingredients and come up with wildly different dishes.

The hubster and I were visiting last night and have decided that we have entirely too much "stuff." Has anyone ever done any type of clean out, or used a system to declutter? I keep getting Facebook ads for minimalists lifestyles, but I know that won't fly with Randy. LOL! I've always been a person who needs to "have a home" for an item before I buy it. And once my stuff outgrows its space, I purge. Him... not so much. Any tips are appreciated! :)

Unless your husband is on board, good luck, Shana... I used the Uncluttered program, which I found on Facebook. It is really good, but I think this is the last time he is doing it. He has been running the program for 10 years. Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist. He has some great books also.

Having said he is part of the Becoming Minimalist world, his Uncluttered program is not about being minimalist, it is about living with what you love.

Thanks for starting the new thread, Lynnie!

I've had a pretty good start to the new year. I got to sleep in, but was so tired after breakfast that I went back to bed for a nap. Eren and a friend came over while I was out, but we had a fun time chatting and watching anime. We've been watching college football almost nonstop, but I managed to get a yoga flow in. My grade came in for my last class, and I got a 95. That continues my 4.0 and I made the president's list. I didn't think I would get that high because I did less than stellar on a few assignments. I am genuinely surprised I was able to keep up--it was a tough class. Only 4 more classes to go until I get my degree!
Congrats on the degree and the 4.0

Happy Friday, all! Anyone have anything fun planned this weekend? It's supposed to be cold here, so we're planning to stay home. I don't watch much TV, but I recently finished the series I'd been viewing. Any suggestions of must-see shows?

I'm headed out to a retreat in a couple hours for the entire weekend with my scrapbooking/card-making ladies! WOOHOO! The weather is looking a little creepy, but I'm gonna take it very slow and steady. Weather really, REALLY does NOT bother me. Really doesn't. I've driven thru some major crud so I'm really not worried. There are just some wide-open spaces along the route to her church and the wind down there whoops up A LOT... again, slow and steady wins the race.

Love and Blessings
Carla, in MN

Happy New Year! I think it's wonderful that many of you are continuing your education and achieving such outstanding grades! Congratulations!

Kent and I are ripping out the bathtub units in both of our bathrooms and replacing them with tile showers. We are remodeling one bathroom from top to bottom, including a new shower, toilet, sink, counters, flooring, and fresh paint. We have been out and about getting price estimates, and I think I might be sick! LOL! It will be so much nicer once it is all completed, and Mother will not be afraid of falling getting in and out of the tub when taking a shower.

Also, it is a sad day today knowing that Tinci is no longer in the store. I have so many of her templates that it just isn't funny. She and Miss Fish have always been my go-to when it comes to templates. I know there are many templates out there, but I don't know of anyone who makes templates like Tinci (insert big sigh).

The blessing @carla is that one of her templates is an acceptable percent of our product use, so we can still use them.

This weekend I am having lunch with a dear friend tomorrow, then going home and preparing for a meeting on Tuesday. I have church on Sunday... that's about it.

I read about Hayden earlier today, and I was heartbroken for Connie and her family. I know that he has dealt with a lot of health issues, but to lose a child his unimaginable.

For us, today is the one year anniversary of the day my children's grandma died, and though her passing was not a direct hit to me, it has been impacting me because I have been having flashbacks to the feelings I had for the kids this time last year. Other than that, concentrating on finishing the second class for this term. I got my grades for the shorter of the two classes, and I got an "A." This class that I have two weeks left in is definitely the tougher of the two, but I am holding my own in that one as well.

Hi everyone, just settling into the new year and the brutal cold weather up in central Canada. We have gotten so many snow storms already that I am tired of shoveling and not sure where I am going to put more snow. My neighbor was doing it for awhile with the snowblower I sold him (it was too heavy for me to use) but they just had a baby so I understand his priorities.

I have been busy the past couple weeks with moving my disabled brother to a new safer place. He had his leg amputated last year due to diabetes and gets around pretty good but this new place is closer to family so we are able to assist him better. He is better in good spirits since the move so happy about that but he hasn't gotten his cable hooked up yet due to issues with the building so he is kind of bored.

Trying to catch up on layouts from past trips. I have 2 trips on the go, Italy & Banff and I am determined to get one of them completed before my next trip to Portugal in February.

I also saw on FB the heartbreaking news of Connie's Son Hayden. How very sad, my heart breaks for her and family.

Mich, I was surprised to hear of the snow if Florida, when you think it is cold...think of my in the freezer and you will warm up. LOL

Carla, Good luck with the reno's, I am sure they will be a blessing as we all age. I am looking for ward to moving to a condo (on a long waiting list) but they have walk in showers. Have fun at your craft classes.

Carla-minicooper, Hope you have a wonderful scrapping weekend and good luck on getting pages done.

Until next time, happy scrapping!
