Welcome to the “Spicy Motivators”

This is the place to be encouraged and give encouragement to those who want to share a goal they desire to achieve.

You might need encouragement in exercising more (that’s me). You might want to do more walking. You might need encouragement to eat healthier or lose some weight. Your desire might be to cook more home cooked meals. Maybe you need some push to get more memory pages scrapped or maybe a desire to do more other crafts like sewing, yarn crafts or painting.
Your goal might be to start writing a book, take up painting/drawing, start a new hobby.

I also want to add that if you are struggling with a layout for a challenge etc. Share here with us what you are struggling with. Maybe you want some critique on your page.

Come and join us to share what you would like to achieve in 2022.

Carla, good to see you here for the start of this new year.

So far I am doing okay with my exercise with only missing out on New Years Day. I feel like I have more energy and the other day actually took a big step up ( with ease ) on a boardwalk in a Rainforest that previously I would not have attempted.

I'm doing okay in the new year. Getting "some" steps in. Trying anyway. Doing a little bit of my body groove every day and trying to chase the grands around is helping. lol

Carla, sounds like you are keeping active which is good. I did try the Body Groove and liked it as I have always liked dancing but I had to stop as my hip and back did not like it. I have osteoporosis in left hip and lower back which is collapsing down.

Carla, good for you, chasing the grands! Anne-Marie, I hope you can find a way to move the way you'd like. And Sherri, I'm wishing for warmer temps for you!

I made a new blog post today, so that, at least, is going well. It's on goal-setting, lol! :)

Read your blogpost Ane, funny to see SMART, I used that in my working life too. Now that I'm retired I don't make any goals anymore, so I can't break them, lol!

I've not been exercising very much, the last days it was raining all day long. In this week I walked two times between the rainshowers. It doesn't look good for the next coming days.

Next Monday I can call for the result of my X-ray and echo of my shoulder, I hope it isn't too bad.

This is a wonderful idea for a thread. I'm back at my exercising, and hoping to keep it up. Please reading more too. The grandkids to help to keep me moving.

It smells really nice in my kitchen! I'm making a real Hungarian goulash for tonight. I think there will be enough left for tomorrow! Today we will eat it with boiled potatoes and tomorrow with rice and cucumber salad, yummie!

That sounds delicious! I've never made it. I think I will look for a recipe. Getting tired of the same ol'meals.

OMG! Yvonne... I haven't had Hungarian Goulash in forever! Mom used to make that and it was amazing. We had Friendship soup the last couple nights and it was so good. Both of us have been fighting our MN-January-head colds. YUCK!

I've never heard of a friendship soup, what is it?

Since COVID i didn't have a cold anymore, I hope you are a bit better now.

Oh, it's absolutely delightful, but I don't have a recipe..... yet. I bought a number of packages from a friend at a craft sale years ago and it makes a ridiculous amount so we only make it once a year. FINALLY used the last package last weekend and now I have to find the recipe for myself. There are lots of recipes online, but none that look quite like what Belinda made. I'll have to see if I can get in touch with her and see if she still has it. Basically a lentil, split pea, barley, small pasta, tomato and sausage stew/soup, with various seasonings. Everything in it is quite small which makes it wonderful to eat when you're not feeling 100%, ya know? If I ever find the recipe, I'll share.

I love the idea of this thread. I have been committed to walking every day. In 2021, I walked 2 miles a day for most days. So this year, I've challenged myself to walk 3 miles a day. When hubby walks with me, it's more of a stroll than a workout, but at least we're moving and it gives us a chance to share what happened in our day with each other.

The other goal I've made is to start logging my meals again. It had been awhile and I knew I was consuming too many calories. So I dusted off my app... only to find that it had stopped being supported back in August! Whoops!!! So now I'm looking for a new FREE app to track my nutrition/calories. There seems to be a lot of choices out there. Has anyone had any luck with a good app?

Breoni: I don't use an app. I have a very regular eating habit and know what I can eat or not. On working days I always cook low calorie meals, in weekends I loosen up a bit, I always gain weight in the weekends, but loose it again during the week. This way I manage to keep the same weight for years now. This year I'm married for 28 years and my wedding gown still fits!

Breoni, have you looked at www.myfitnesspal.com/ ?
I'm over there, same user name. It's free, but also has a paid element. They have a food/calorie, etc. counter, exercise counter, message boards, blogs. I haven't dug into it more than the food and exercise because much of it is old and hasn't been updated, but A LOT of people moved over there when SparkPeople closed. You might want to try it if that's all you're looking for.

I have heard of that one, Carla! I didn't know SparkPeople had closed. I should have guessed something was up when I stopped getting their emails. Hubby was using it too. I'll have to tell him- I don't think he knows.

I just posted a new book review on my blog. Thinking about what I'm going to do next week. :)

Oh gosh yes... Ane, They closed up last August I think. It was "horrible" for those of us that were on every day. IDK, they decided they were "taking it in a different direction" and they opened another site somewhere but most of us that went to look at it were terribly unimpressed and ended up at MFP.

It has been a weird week. Hubby tested positive for Covid on Sunday, and he has sequestered himself all week in one of our spare bedrooms. I miss seeing him! Eren got tested yesterday and I got tested this morning, so we will see if we're homebound for a few more days in a couple of days.

I did manage a blog post today. It turned out differently than I'd expected, but in a good way. :)

I’ve been ‘walking” in the house. It’s been so icy outside it’s not really safe.

‘’still watching what I eat. Not seeing any difference in the waist though.

Ane, good on you doing more posts on your blog. I you enjoy it and continue to do this.

Sheri, hope your walking the house is going well for you. ( I have still been doing indoor exercises and I am feeling more fit. My sweet husband says that I look slimmer)

Carla, Yvonne, Michi, Breoni, Ane and Sheri,
to you who have taken part in this thread, I thank you and hope you will continue to share and encourage each other.
I have made the decision to step away from being involved here at Ginger Scraps so you will not see much of me in the future.

I hope you all stay healthy and happy.

Oh my, Anne-Marie. I hope everything is okay in your world. I'm sorry you're leaving us.
I am well, thank you. Living a very quiet life at home with my husband both keeping a low profile.

I want to get back into my sewing and also do some creative things like at long last do some painting.... I hope to find tutorials on Youtube to follow. I have kept my paints and art papers which have gathered dust. But have got rid of a lot of my paper craft items...... one small cupboard, one medium cupboard and one set of drawers worth. Most donated to the local primary/elementary school. Now I have room in my computer/craft room for a single bed when the grandchildren come to stay as two are now teenagers need a little privacy instead of them all sleeping in the loungeroom.

I am still somewhat involved on another digi site and you never know if I see a challenge here that suits one of the memory pages I still plan to create you will see me pop in. So I will keep an eye at times of what is happening here.

Sending you the biggest hug. You have always been an amazing cheerleader and an inspiration. You always have kind, uplifting words to share with others. I'm sorry we won't see as much of you here as we'd like, but I know you'll continue to bring light wherever you go. And if you ever change your mind, come on back... we'll be here! :)
