Carla - Very appreciated. He's home now, and he brought half of Italy back in the form of provisions. His mother has been cooped up and cooking, and he smuggled as much of it as he could with him when he came back across. He even brought with the white wine he knows I like to make up for being gone. Both of us are nervous cooks, the dogs have gotten so many egg white omlettes this week!

He left the house at 6.30am and to make what is usually a 20 minute drive to the border from his house, it took around an hour and a half. He was afraid they would close the border before he was able to get through, even if he had his paperwork in order. They're stopping every car, photographing every car, and controlling paperwork. Every single person, every single day. On top of limited openings, it was enough to convince him that he should probably wait until things are more open to re-attempt it.

Lynnie, it IS so much fun! I'd love to do something like that here. We could plan a Saturday where anyone checks in as often as they like to see what challenges we come up with and then we meet on Zoom too.

Back to work for me... Can't wait to see everyone's recipes for Week 5!!! What a fun idea.

Stay well. Stay safe. Wash your hands. God Bless!

I will work on a plan for the online crop!

Glad he is back safe and you have lots of food. Big hugs from us all here :)

That sounds like fun, Lynnie. The time difference makes it a little hard, but I'd like to try and participate!

It does sound like a lot of fun. :D

Update on me- I am alone for a couple hours this afternoon! First time I've been alone since school was called off for Eren over a month ago. The silence is really weird- I may turn on some music. I need some time to work on my challenge pages and this is perfect because the kids have taken over my computer for gaming and homework.

Everyone stay safe and healthy!

I managed to finish my Survivor layout - now I am exhausted and hot it was a high of 84F/29C today - it does not sound hot, but it sure felt that way.

Hi all. Back after a long time away from this thread. Still at home laying low and social distancing. I stopped at the masks after going way over 200. I have stenosis in my neck and it is affecting into my shoulders. Too much pain.

We did go over on Easter for a driveway visit with the g'kiddo's and daughter and son in law. Didn't stay long, but great to see them and the kids loved their treats. Both are doing well with the online schooling. Sarah even has zoom dance and gymnastics class.
I need to scrap Easter photos, although they are not such good pictures.

Then- son in law's father passed away. Not unexpected but, still rough on the family. David was accepting...saying he was glad his 'Lolo' was not hurting and could live with God instead of at the hotel [assisted living facility]. Sarah fell apart worried we would leave her too. That broke my heart.

Survivor has kept me busy plus daily online with church. That has been good for me.
Lynnie- to answer your question on my week 5 page. Yes on the embroidered towel for the challenge. I did it Wednesday and scrapped it Thursday. The food items I photo'd on Wednesday as well. That actual pizza was not this week, just one of the many I have photographed. Our hands were a different photo.

Kelley- I will send some mask things today. There are some non sewing on my FB, but I will email shortly.

Ane- I've had trouble keeping up here too.

Sherri- That is rough about your mom's long term care and the bunny.... Our school is canceled the rest of the year too.

Dorann- A belated Happy Birthday wish!
Sylive- Keep on scrapping. We once had a yorkie.

Lynnie- I hope Luck is feeling better!

Rae- I hope you get to hold the grandbaby soon!!!!

Off now for daily services online.

Stay safe everyone.

I love cooking, but I am TRULY at a loss for this challenge! I'll finish, but it's gonna be down to the wire. I just don't know what I'm going to share! We have so many family recipes and they're all delish, IMHO... lol.

Good morning ladies. It feels good to have finished my last survivor challenge. I had a lot of fun with this and can't wait to see who the winners are. As this is my first year with it, I didn't know what to expect and if I would enjoy it much but I sure did. I've been having a hard time staying positive and not stressing about everything so this fun distraction was very much needed and appreciated.

I'm still working my regular hours (at home) so have been kept busy which is probably a good thing. Between family time (loving having my daughter home with us), walking Taz and scrapping, I've been able to distance myself from all the news too much like I was doing before. I like to be informed and up-to-date on the situation but I just can't be inundated constantly with the news as it wears me down, depresses me. So, I am thankful for the things I have to make me smile and keep me feeling hopeful.

I'm looking forward to the wkend. We're going to bake banana bread, watch some PVR shows and I've been reading the blook club selection for this month which I'm really enjoying so I think tomorrow morning I will spend a few hours with my book and coffee and just relaxing. I had dropped my phone awhile back and had to send it to Samsung and it looks like it should be returned today. I miss it. I don't mind using my old phone but I will be happy to get my s10 back. I like the photos it takes.

I'll go thru the gallery later and catch up with the LOs. Hope you all have a happy healthy day ahead.

Either everyone is getting their week 5 layout done earlier this week or I'm slower. I'm working on both of them at the same time because I thought making them matchy, matchy for my scrapbook would be super fun.

All is going well. Still status quo. Homework with Philip, Molly doing her own school work many hours a day, trying to get out but not with the weather being so rainy. Hubby is still working and gets most of the shopping done without us or we sit in the car while he shops just to get out.

We'll find out next week if they are going to extend the shelter in place and if and when schools are going back.

Stay home, stay safe. And wear those masks when out and about.

Nope you are not alone! I have yet to even decide what recipe I am scrapping! I am hopeful I will work on it tonight because I have a 6 hour virtual conference tomorrow... we will see though because screen time is limited today due to a pesky migraine.

I knew right away which recipe - but I struggled with presentation. I must have done four or five layouts whit completely different kits before I settled on what I did.

It has been so hot, I don't even know what to do with myself. I don't do well in the heat.

I finished this weeks survivor but I had a difficult time thinking of something I could cook and get photos of that I had ingredients for. It’s not simple to just run out and grab things.

I had to source a sheepskin lay-on and sheepskin booties for mom, with her being on bed rest with her broken pelvis, her skin pressure points and her heels are breaking down and it hasn’t been long at all. Phoned, and phoned, and phoned, in my city and a few close by until I finally found one I could pick up. Drove it to mom’s long term care home, dropped off at front desk, as it is closed to visitors. Then walked all around the hospital until I found mom’s room. Then called the nurse, had them deliver a phone and I talked to mom from outside. It was so upsetting. Totally upsetting. She has lost so much weight since she quit eating. She didn’t know who I was. She kept forgetting to talk into the phone. She doesn’t understand why no one comes to visit, or why she is in bed, or why nothing is happening. So sad.

After having to put our bunny over the rainbow bridge ridge last week, we went to the humane society that alexis volunteers at to attempt a foster situation, but adopted two new bunnies, Cinder and Frost. They are filling our hearts with joy.

Our province effectively cancelled the summer. Cases keep rising, deaths going up. A meat plant has 500+ cases linked to it, so other meat plants are closing or limiting workers, out supply chain will be compromised.

I hope you all are staying safe. My heart is with all my wafflers

Golly y'all. One of the things he brought back from Italy was his gaming PC, it has been three days he's been fussing it trying to get it set up and I'm ready to send them both back until he has a working headset. I can't focus for beans! Lol... I have been trying to finish a third challenge since I stopped working last night and have only now gotten it the way I want it.

I did a full-count of the hours I worked last week and it's at 52. That's ten hours over contract, and I am simultaneously being yelled at for not taking vacation time, not recovering OT, and not completing projects fast enough. Schrodinger's Employee, I am simultaneously working too much and not enough. Maybe I will plan for a long weekend somewhere. We want to redo the garden, but I need a lot more supplies before I can manage THAT. I should maybe have gotten dirt yesterday, since I was at Aldi already, but I didn't think about it until after I checked out and also could probably not have gotten it all by myself. I need to put a pin in that for later this week, though.

Ane - It sounds like you really needed the break, good for you!
Michi - Over 200?! You're a machine! I only made them for us and it was a struggle, that's really crazy numbers.
Rae - I know that phone-feeling. When I travel long-term I always have my backup phone for a new SIM, and while it's my phone, and I am used to it, it is also not "MY PHONE" and it's such a weird disjoint.
LilyAnn - Isn't it funny how sometimes we can fly through stuff and it's perfect and other times every detail takes forever to get right? Between being funny and maddening, anyway.

I don't know where I would start scrapping a recipe, even. Because I usually want my recipes to be clean cut, easy to print at home and functional, and my layouts are usually pretty loaded and need outside print capacities.

Edit: OH HEY my little name guy changed!

Happy Saturday to all. My prayers are it was a good day and there you found plenty to smile about.

As if not enough crafting, I decided to 'teach myself' how to knit.:36_1_42:. It is about the only 'craft / needle' related thing I cannot and do not do. It's been interesting....................................................................................Since I have my mother's knitting needles, I decided it was about time to make them work. Told Bill, they might need new batteries.hehe

FaceTime with daughter and granddaughter today. Mark the date and time - Sarah has learned to skip! at almost age 4.5. She was so proud of herself! Her recital dance is: The Sun Will Come Our Tomorrow from Annie... and 'skip' is a part. Not sure what the teacher was thinking since the group is age 3 and 4, and skipping is not developmental at their age. Perhaps comic relief.

Loving ALL these recipes!

Carla- Your page is awesome! I look forward to trying your recipe.
Rae- Blessings as still working plus the other stresses. Bill mentioned a new book by Dan Brown. I will check it out.
LilyAne- You are not slow.. I got lucky on my recipe Because of what I had photo of, and could take 'new' for the page. Hubby had like 6 for me to do.....And yes on the masks!

Elynnia- I couldn't imagine a 6 hour conference!!!!

Lynnie- Your presentation is perfect. Pretty hot here as well.

Sherri- Prayers continue for your mom and all on your plate. Happy to hear about new bunnies!! I hope this helps Alexis.

Sylfie- I'm glad he is back from Italy. I agree on clean cut for recipe. Something a bit aside of this thread. I do Ancestry dot com. As a child, I was told my paternal grandfather was 100% born German. I accepted it. FAST forward, I've discovered one paper that might be his that says Switzerland....I thought.. ok, close. Only to discover via DNA I am 12% Italian! I've found via ancestry dna Italian cousins [3-4 cousins], we've no idea how we are related!
m

Everywhere is full of Italians, Michi, especially those who are traditionally from the south, they'll leave for work elsewhere and there's a lot of overlap between Switzerland and the surrounding territory so that doesn't surprise me too much! They've gone back and forth on birth-right citizenship, so it's hard to say if that was or was not a thing when he was born. France was so gung-ho with theirs that someone born on an Air-France flight had the right to claim citizenship, can you imagine?

Still too warm to get much done, unfortunately. I walked this morning, but it got hot pretty quickly. I am still overheated, although it seemed much nicer than yesterday. Now I have to think about what to do for dinner.

Well the live portion of the teaching conference is over. I made it through all but the very last presenter. I had a migraine that had carried over the day before so I knew I needed sleep. Still need to watch the prerecorded sessions and then I can turn in my summaries for credit. I love going to these weekend conferences in person, and always feel so encouraged and creative when I come back. Sitting online for hours listening to them, isn’t quite the same. I did enjoy it none the less. And it’s one less day I have to sit in a room watching videos in August during inservice week. My school is trying to get next years training done while we are closed so we can give that week back to the parents. The conference was all done with the shut down in mind so it really was well done!

I got my last Survivors layout done last night and even was able to do a FB slow scrap today at the end of the conference time. Now I am going to try to work on some pages for February for this year’s album.

I've had a few really off days. Doing the Door Dash has been crazy busy this week. Then yesterday I get a phone call that I have to come and get the dog. I say what happened and Tom told me that she had somehow cut her leg pretty bad. Well, I hurry with the people's food that I have in the car and drop it off and then drive as fast as I safely could to get the dog.

Tom is freaking out that she might have been unconscious and that she was under the bed. Well, I'm trying to look for her under the bed and she walks up behind me. And, her leg isn't cut. It is worse, it looks like she had gotten it stuck in a snare or something and the skin is gone all the way around her leg. I rushed her to the vet. She ended up having to have surgery and the vet wasn't able to get it all the way closed. She is in a splint now and on three different meds. However, I did what any parent would do and had her treated.

It is going to be really difficult for the next month to keep her on a leash, in a room by herself and wearing the e-collar whenever I'm not with her. And keeping the bandage clean is going to be impossible because of living out in the country in a dusty old house.

I think she will recover well and so far she does seem to be doing well.

Oh my, poor pup! I hope she recovers quickly! It's almost more stressful when you don't see it happen because you don't have all the facts. She is so lucky to have you, I can tell she will be supported and lovingly cared for!

Thank you for this insight and information! I had no idea.

Dorann I am so sorry about your pup. That’s so sad.

I really enjoyed the way survivor was run this year. It was fun without the popularity contest vibes from it. How did everyone else like the format changes for it?

First time playing so I really can't say that I have an opinion. But from other sites I've been in contests in, the popularity voting was a no-go for me. I have stories, but that's not for here!

I enjoyed being able to play the entire game too. It was fun. I'm really excited about the cookbook! I can't believe I actually got my layout(s) done. I struggled with this one. Thanks for the kudos Michi.

Dorann, I am SO sorry about your puppy. That's terrible. Big hugs and love from here.

Elynnia! A 6 hour conference ONLINE! NO, no, no, no, no........ I get it and it makes sense to do it now, while everyone else is out, but yeah, I would not be able to pay attention to that either. I actually attended a conference like that several years ago and never again. Got so little out of the presentations alone and no personal interaction. Good for you that you were able to persevere with a migraine hangover! That would have knocked me out.

Ah well, off to enjoy my SONday! Probably walk the pooch a bit before the rain sets in and then scrap with friends later as this was supposed to be a physical crop weekend for a bunch of us. :cryhard

A question was just posted for the 5th week challenge. She asked if the recipe had to be put on the 12x12 as the instructions say photo of the recipe. I thought it meant the dish itself. I did not add a recipe to the layout. I went back and checked and only about one-third had the recipe on the layout. I have not seen an answer yet. What do you think? I have added the recipe to the layout but am waiting to see if I need to put the one with the added recipe.

I asked that question in the question thread. The answer was... The recipe only had to go on the 8 1/2 by 11 page.

I am up to five challenge layouts done for this month. I need to try and start sooner next month. It's either that or this will be the reason I start working normal hours, to have time to scrap. Lol.

Hope everyone is doing well. We are here. Can't wait to hear what our governor is going to say this week. He is going to be opening things up a little at a time. Phase one is elective surgeries and doctors and such like that. Also, construction workers. He says we'll be at that stage for 2 weeks than if all is well with the "numbers" we'll open phase 2 which is transportation, small businesses and I think he said schools. Well, starting May 15 will be phase 1... that lasts 2 weeks puts it at May 29 do you really think they will open schools for 3 weeks? Still hard to call I guess. Don't know what phase the library will be considered? There was talk about having schools open for summer school to "catch up" but teachers have contracts. Also, why have them catch up when all kids are in the same boat... just catch them up in September (if we are open then). Time will tell.

On another note: I thought I was clever making my both layouts match somewhat. I had both open at the same time and added a little here and a little there. I actually had the recipe card opened as a third item and just dropped the whole recipe card on my recipe layout. It seems lots of us had the same idea! LOL!
Voting is going to be tough. Good luck to everyone that participated!

Stay home, stay safe and listen to what the authorities say!

LilyAnn, I did the same thing. In fact, I used the exact same cluster in both of them because I liked what I did with it so well.

As far as the format change this year, I have to admit that I really liked it, was such great fun to get to go through all five weeks and I love that Ginger took us all out of our typical comfort zones.

So far Sweet Pea seems to be doing pretty well. The splint is driving her crazy and of course the fact that she is a pup and she isn't supposed to exercise at all on that leg. We have to go back to the vet tomorrow to have it looked at but I don't think there is going to be any issue.
