Write about it, blah, blah...lol...

I love journaling on layouts, helps me to remember what happened and especially when it happened so I always try to add a date. Life moves way too fast for my brain to remember everything, so journaling to me is important!

So I ask you..... Do you journal? If so, what font do you use? Hook me up with the layout, too!

Me, I have two go-to fonts, KG Be Still an Know
https://www.dafont.com/kg-be-still-know.font

and KG Strawberry Limeade
https://www.dafont.com/kg-strawberry-limeade.font

Wendy has a great font this month for the font challenge! I think I'll now have 3 go-to fonts now!
Check it out here

Ooooooh, ok Em, I hear you , I love fonts and I will be back.

yes I love a good journal on a page, however I am selective as to what I post outloud.

I always feel like I do a terrible job at journaling. When I started scrapping, I wrote from my kids perspective and used simple language because they were toddlers/pre-schoolers. Now that I write from my perspective, I never quite know how to do it in my voice. I do try to always put a date, though, like you said. I spent at least an hour on the journaling on my Vietnam page that I did with the polaroid of my dad when he was there.

Thanks for linking to the fun fonts!

I usually journal facts, where, when, who.... But sometimes I'll bust out the heartfelt like the Survivor layouts we created. Those take me forever to figure out what to say and what should not be said....lol...

I admit journaling is not my favorite, but it definitely makes the LO! Helps me to remember what was going on and some of the behind the scenes I might not have captured in the pics! One thing I love about p365, is I usually scrap those a little quicker so I remember exactly why I took the pic or something funny that went with it or whatever. Then when I scrap the picture for the kids' books (usually about 2 years later - but I'm TRYING to close that gap! ha ha) I can then look at my p365 journaling and refresh my memory! LOL

As far as favorite fonts, that's tough, I switch all the time. I too love KG Be Still and Know right now! I didn't have either of the other ones...but I do now!

Usually when I'm creating CT layouts, I don't take the time to journal very much (unless the LO requires it). I'm not the best at journaling...my brain shuts down when I set out to type (or write!). This is an area I really want to work on. I just picked up some old photo albums and pictures from my Grandpa, and thankfully, some of the photos are at least labeled with names, but dates, places and stories are missing. I think that's so sad because those memories are really lost even though there are photos.

This is why I always try to write something on the layout. I look at my old pages sometimes I wonder.... when was this taken? What in the world was happening. And this was only years ago. Imagine 20, 30, 50 years later..... I can't even remember what I did yesterday, LOL!

Exactly, Em!!

My journaling is really simple. I pretend someone is asking about the picture and I just describe it to them as if they are sitting right in front of me.

Like this, short and sweet, although now that I look back, I need to include the "where" in my journaling, too!!

I like that philosophy, Em! What a great, easy way to get the information on the page. I overstress myself because I think I need to write a novel. But, as long as the important info is there, then it's good! Thank you...that's very freeing!

I too try to include information about the photo, era etc. Maybe not every page as a lot of mine are continuing in an album.

What font do you use to journal?
I'm trying to find clean fonts that are easy to read. But not too big just in case I have lots of stuff to say, LOL!

Em, I just wanted to know that this thread inspired a layout I'll be posting on Friday! I can't wait for you to see it (it will be in the CT thread hopefully later today).

Oh goodness, journaling is one of my favourite parts of this whole thing! Probably because I'm so talkative in real life as well, haha! I have been experimenting with journal-free pages, but the scraps I have printed are all covered in journaling. I've taken on the assignment of doing my nieces' baby photo albums since my sister is a talented woman but those talents do not extend to the keeping of memories and all the recordings she has of her daughters is a hard drive full of pictures. In these albums, I'll probably be keeping the journal very matter-of-fact and focus on the pictures, mainly, since I know that the whole talkative thing is not their style :)

One of my favourite fonts for journaling is one we used in a previous font challenge, Are you freakin serious. I also like Burst my Bubble and Fun in the Jungle if I need a chunkier look.

This is the layout I did that was inspired by this thread. I am scanning my grandparents' old photos (in albums and not) for my Grandpa's upcoming 100th birthday. Some of the photos have little quips or even a person's name under them, but there are no dates and not all of them and definitely no "stories".

That is so neat, Tammy! A few years back I found an article w/ lots of questions to "interview" your parents/grandparents, etc. and I sat w/ my laptop and asked quite a few of my family and my husband's and it was fascinating!! I don't have pictures to go w/ it though so I never did anything more than that--I need to get back on that!
I love journaling, but lately I'm feeling like mine is all the same--all about how much I love my family and how blessed I am (which of course is true!), but blah, blah, blah!---so I'm looking for some variation!

Thanks, Mishi! I've gone through some of the albums with my Grandpa. Once I get all of the photos scanned, I'm going to email them to my mom and aunt and see if they remember hearing any of the stories. About 20 years ago, my Grandpa wrote an autobiography. It's not extensive, but has some fun stories. Unfortunately, my Grandma has already passed away. She was fairly secretive about her growing up years - I think she had a pretty rough childhood - so we don't have any of her stories.
I feel the same way about my journaling sometimes, but I think the blah, blah, blah is better than nothing :)

Great idea, Mish about interviewing the your grandparents, I should have my kiddos do that with my parents, eek, wonder what type of questions my kids would ask! LOL!!

Tammy, LOVE that layout!! Wonderful job with the journaling and how totally cool your grandpa made an autobiography!!

LOL - I am a storyteller and I struggle with pages that have NO journaling. It's easy for me to just tell the story behind the photos, to include my thoughts about a certain event or about the person in the photo, etc. I have TONS of fonts mostly Darcy Baldwin fonts. I have one that looks EXACTLY like my handwriting, so much so that when I wanted to get my own custom font I decided not to because this one was the same as mine! Here is a layout with that font:

DJB I Love Me Some Sheri
Love_My_Son_Feb_21.jpg

This is another favorite font - Ripe
Serendipity_Bytesize_Beauti.jpg

And lastly here is one more fave - DJB Pipsqueak Print

oh Marie! Those are amazing, love the fonts you used, so legible and clear!! Great job with preserving your memories!!

Marie, I'm a story teller too! The photos and layouts are to assist in telling the story. If I do a page with no words on it at all, it feels unfinished.
