I've always be curious...why someone said lets make 12X12 our scrapbook standard....Anyone know any history of our hobby?

I started years ago with Creative Memories in the mid 90's. And have lots of big albums from them, but even than it was 12X12.

Just really curious....

I haven't the slightest clue. You'd think 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 would be easier/cheaper to produce. Now I'm curious too.

I have no idea , in general I'm clueless :), but I'm guessing historical carryover ? all of the old scrapbooks my grandparents had were 12 x 12

Interesting question! I have no idea, but if I had to guess I would say it would have to do with standard sizing of pictures that were printed in the 90s, when this type of scrapping became big... wasn’t 4x6 the standard? The least common denominator would be 12... so you could orient your pics either vertically or horizontally.

i completely made that up, but it sounds good...

I rarely print anything 12x12. I started printing 10x10 books several years ago. They fit nicely on my shelves and are much easier to hold.

I've no idea too, but maybe it's beacuse it's square and people are thinking it's the right size for a big photobook printing or a page. I have my daughter's photobooks and they're printed as 8x8. I'm planning on printing my project life books as 10x10 because I too, think that 12x12 is too big for my shelf.
