Who....?

....has trouble calling a page "done"? Who loves minimalistic style? Who loves lots of stuff on their pages? Tell me your story.

My story: I fiddle, fuddle, faddle, add, remove, nudge, add some more.....ongoing! I just LOVE minimalistic design but have so much difficulty with the style because I can never say "finished". When I think I am done, I actually go back to the kit and look to see if there is anything ELSE I can add:(. I always love the neat and clean minimalistic work of certain scrappers (Gaelle, Heidi McGregor, Cassandy come to mind...hope they don't mind me mentioning them). I start out to emulate their work and before I know it, my page has become full of bits and pieces all by itself!!!:)

After some serious self analysing over the years, I have decided that the reason I fiddle around so much is that I am having FUN adding bits and playing around on the page, that I am having SO much fun that I don't WANT to say "finished", and that I LIKE my filled up pages when they finally get completed:) SO my name is Jill and I am a fiddler:).......but I still yearn to happily create minimalism.

Edit: As I work on my current LO, another introspective thought has popped into my head....my photos are mostly point and shoot, or phone photos, no photography skills here sadly:(...perhaps I subliminally make up for that with excess of bits.......

Just too funny Jill.
Love your story.

I can do a variety of styles. It just depends on what I want for the photos on the page.

I have had my fiddling moments; and I too enjoy minimalist layouts. I just cannot do them and be happy with the outcome. I enjoy all the bits and bobs that come with a digital scrapbooking kit. I have to have them all on my page, and usually in cluster form. I find that if I do any fiddling, it is to make my clusters look more "realistic".

To answer your question though, no. I usually don't have a problem calling a page done. If I ever have problems with that, I usually end up trashing it mid layout and starting over.

I scrap just the way I feel that the photos dictate.

I do art journal. I do grunge. I do simple. I do white space. I do clustered. It all depends on the photos, the kit and what I end up with! LOL...

I don't have a problem calling a page done at ALL. LOL - I just don't have enough time in my life to do that and if I actually want finished albums I have to stop "adding." ;) As for style, it depends on the photo and why I'm creating it. I never feel like I have to use up everything in a kit and a lot of kits have stuff in them that I never use.

One day I will try to create a LO using every single thing in a page kit! There is so much gorgeous stuff in the kits here that I am always sad when I have to leave things out:)

YES!! Jill...I feel the same way. Sometimes I want to add everything in the kit! I'm an embellishment lover. I love to make bunches of clusters and try to use up as much stuff as possible. If I want the white space look, I'll make the clusters smaller and not so spread out.

I'll go through grungy phases, then I'll go through clean phases. I guess it just depends what pictures and/or kit I'm working with at the moment.

I love minimalist design and using paint and brushes.
usually I scrap one or two pictures ; when I want to scrap a serie of pictures, I make a pocket style page and use journal cards.
for me the lost difficult is to create a cluster with lots of flowers and leaves. I can't do that (even with a template).

Gaelle, I was just looking through your gallery; and I love your layouts! You scrap the minimalist look so well! I've tried the minimalist look, and failed miserably. Yours are lovely!

I AGREE!! I mentioned Gaelle's lovely minimalist style in the starting post of this thread. She creates ART and I can now recognise her work in the opening page of the gallery where no usernames are mentioned (that is a little challenge I set myself each day and can now recognise the work of several members when I see their LOs in the gallery).

I like both. I tend to be somewhat minimalistic, I guess. I print out 90% of my pages for my own personal scrapbooks, so I like "clean" looking pages, if that makes sense. I hardly ever use a ton of white space. I very much admire people who can do more artistic pages, though! LOL!

I find myself doing multiple versions of scrapbooking the same set of photos. I'll scrap an event after it happens... then a new kit will come out the next year and I'm like wait I have the perfect photos for that! I'm trying to hit the photos that I haven't scrapped at all, because there are so many.. but I find you always have those favorite events and memories that you like to scrap over and over again! I guess it's the way I relive them, especially if someone involved has passed.
