.....programme do you/have you used to do your scrapbooking?

I started out with PaintshopPro7, loved it, moved onto PaintShopPro8, then, as I became more knowledgeable and wanting to become even more so, I became frustrated with the lack of resources, tutorials etc for PSP online and in magazines etc compared with those available for Photoshop so I got hold of PSCS3 and loved it to death, moved onto PSCS5 which I still use and am currently loving it to death too. Within my PSP days, I did have a short play with PSE2(? not sure if it was that version) that came free with something else but could not get into it at that time. I love my current Photoshop but still, even after several years, have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of.

When I first started using PSP7 (I was brand new to computers and scrapbooking at that time) and trying to figure out how to do scrapbooking , I can still remember a wonderful lightbulb moment when I discovered the layers palette and how to use layers. I still get a buzz when I remember that moment.

What is your story?

I started out with a free version of PSP9 that I got from a mommy forum. Then after I was taking some college Photoshop courses I got to get the school discount to get CS6 Extended. So I got that now and I've been using that ever since!!! :D I love it!!!

I started with "Journaling Genie" [it's ok if you are LOL]. All it did was type a variety of text paths/shapes etc. I printed on clear sticker paper and added to my paper scrapbook pages.
About in conjunction with it... came PSE-no number. That was because we purchased our first digital camera. I think that was 2002.
then PSE- 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10
and
CS3, CS5
and
DL yesterday a trial of Adobe CC- Photoshop, LR and Bridge.

I had all those earlier programs because I tested for: Adobe and people who wrote tutorials to go with the Adobe programs & for people who created actions, styles, brushes etc...just to see if they worked. I guess they figured if I could do it, anyone could. I've very literal. Next was QC for digi designers and CT'ing.

I also taught digi scrapping in various programs, wrote tutorials, and created templates [templates were always free-as scrapping is my hobby].

I use PSE 11 for scrapbooking because I LOVE using templates! I use Serif's Digital Scrapbook Artist for my kit previews, though.

I tried to scrap using Word--man that was really hard!! But after a month of struggling with Word, I discovered Paint Shop Pro 6 and worked my way through Paint Shop Pro XI before taking the plunge to learn Photoshop CS2, which I grew through the upgrades and stopped with CS5 as I refuse to pay for Cloud.

I started using Memory Mixer... then I bought PSE 2 off eBay and loved it, so I upgraded from there. I also use iScrapbook for Mac sometimes, especially for pocket style layouts because I love how it works similar to the Project Life app on my phone.

Wendy, I am with you. I refuse to pay for Cloud. It's basically the same program.

A lot of my friends are always complaining about the Cloud and why did they bother to upgrade. I'll wait until (1) it becomes free to use whatever feature it is and (2) when my friends stop complaining about it!! Why upgrade, when it isn't broken!!!! :D

I've had quite the journey with my scrapbooking software.

I purchased my first MacBook Pro just because Creative Memories was releasing their sbcStudio for MAC several years ago. When the program worked, I love it. When it didn't work, I hated it. When it finally died a terrible death, I tried so many different programs - My Memories, iScrapbook, and a few others who's names escape my memory.

I was finally encourage by a group that I belong to on Facebook to try PSE. PSE 10 was the current one out at the time. I struggled. Then I took some Jessica Sprague classes. They are the best! I'm still taking her classes.

I upgraded to PSE12, and then my laptop died early last year. When I got my new MacBook Pro, I also downloaded the free trial on PS CC. It's really not much different from PSE. I wasn't sure that I was going to keep it. But then I discovered that it has spell check and I decided that was worth it for me. There are still a few things that PSE had that CC doesn't, but I like the constant updates that I get, and I'm learning how to edit my pictures in Lightroom.

My biggest need was a program that had to be compatible with templates. The old CM software was not. I spent more time scraplifting layouts than I did actually scrapping.

I have installed PSP 9, PSE 5 and PSE 11. I mostly use PSP 9 for scrapping because I've been using PSP in it's various versions for more than ten years, and I know the workings and capabilities of that program inside and out. I have a more current version (PSPX3) but it's bloatware and I don't care for it at all.

PSP is not really strong in the text tool area so I will launch PSE 5 when I need to do a quickie text thing, but I've always been shaky using PSE. I only launch PSE 11 when I'm unable to open something in my other programs because the program seems to take forever to launch and I have a ton of RAM. I'm about to take a class for PSE 11 because it covers text paths, a very weak area for me. Maybe when I'm finished with the lessons I'll use PSE 11 more. :)

I started out with Paint Shop Pro, then moved to Photoshop Elements. After getting a new Mac after my PC that had PSE on it died, I tried Acorn for a while, then, when I could afford it, purchased PSE 12 for Mac (yay for being a grad student and getting the student price). I've used Photoshop itself in computer labs, and while it is definitely powerful, PSE does pretty much everything I need for scrapping. I'll probably just stick with PSE 12, as I don't want to have to pay monthly fees just to access software (although I know the world is moving that way. *sigh* I'll lose my Microsoft 365 access once I graduate.)
