When Starting a Page...

do you have a picture in mind, or do you just make the page and then drop the pictures in? Every time I drop the pictures in, I have to change the layout because the colors may clash! LOL

I usually scrap for CT, so I start with the kit. Then look for the picture. But if there is a picture I really want to use, then I'll start with that and look for a kit, lol...

I am having a heck of a time because my HD that has years of photos won't boot up, so my stash is limited. I'm not freaking out YET because it's a power issue as far as I know, and all we need to do is get the power cord fixed...

I start with kit almost first always. I have learned to edit photos by cropping or changing the color (black & white or sepia tones) to match any kit I want to use. I very rarely start with a photo, unless I have one that I just already had in mind to use that moment.

I did that with a few, but for the most part, I'm too nitpicky about the colors not matching. LOL I have sepia/black and white options, but for some reason, changing the colors of the picture isn't always on my radar.

My husband hates black and white photos. I have no idea why but he does. I sometimes have a photo in mind, and there are times a see a kit and I totally can see where my page is going to go creatively. It really depends. I try not to think about it too much because I would never finish a page.

Hehehe Danica my husband doesn't like B/W's either it drives me nuts. Sometimes photos just look better in B/W to me!

If I'm doing a challenge and need to use certain kit/colors, then I HAVE to find a photo that will match it. Otherwise, I start with my pics and find a kit to match. I'm picky like that and proud of it. LOL

Guess I'm the odd ball. I pick a photo first and then work around it with the kit. If I see the kit name, I usually know what direction I want to go.

I have no trouble finding photos! I have too many to choose from!!!

I generally start with a photo and match the photo to kit color or theme to match photo. I do CT and then look for photos to match. I can generally change color on the kit to match the photo if I need to

I do it all, :) Sometimes I start with product, sometimes a photo, and sometimes a story I want to tell.

I think the longer you CT, the more easy it is for you to start with a kit and find photos. Having your photos organized and easily accessible definitely helps. I hope you get your power cord issue fixed!

If I have to start with a kit, I always open the kit preview image first and refer to that when I'm editing my photos. It helps to get the right color tones etc. If a photo is giving me too much trouble, I'll turn it black and white. I have a harder time working with certain colored kits so I almost always change photos to black and white or sepia if the kit is pastel, for example. I just don't have a lot of pastel in my life to match those kits, LOL.

I do both. If I have some photos that just have to be scrapped with the "perfect" kit, I'll start with photos and go on an hour long hunt for a kit and template. Usually, though, I have a kit to scrap, then find photos :)

Every LO is different for me. [how boring is that!].

Sometimes... it's the kit... and I have to hunt the 'right' photo OR go take it. [true confession]

Sometimes... it's the photos and I hunt the kit or the template or BOTH to tell the story.

that said...every LO I do... is 'real' for me.

Almost all the LOs I do are for CTs, so the kit is already picked. I don't know that I would get any scrapping done if I didn't have the kit picked first... I tend to WAY overthink everything - that's why challenges like Survivor are so hard for me! I spend HOURS looking through photos (no shortage there) and kits (can you say "hoarder"??!!). So, CTing saves my sanity & I get LOs done. It's win-win! LOL! hehe

I really hope you're able to get your EHD up & running, Susan!!

Thanks, Tammy. My hubby is talking to the IT guy at work and getting a recommendation of where to take it.
