What's your motivation for digiscrapping?

I was recently asked this by a friend who doesn't scrapbook in any form. She was curious about the hobby and was amazed to learn about our online community of scrappers and designers, our access to amazing kits and templates, and all of the fun challenges. She asked what was my motivation for this hobby. For me, scrapbooking is my way of keeping a journal of the big milestones of my events, as well as the events of those closest to me. I also love the creative outlet it provides. And now, through our online forums, I love our digital community.

What is your motivation for digiscrapping or for your other hobbies?

I like to scrap family and events, also now that I am into wildlife and landscape photography, I enjoy scrapping about that too. The creative and social aspect of it is fun too. I don't know many people in the little city we moved to so the scrap friendships I have made fill that void and keep me from feeling too isolated.

I'm not very good about journaling, especially about myself, but I am working on that b/c I want to document more about my life, myself, the little things.

For me it is mostly about telling the stories that go along with the pictures. I remember being young and looking through old photo albums, and yes, the pictures were nice. But I really wanted to know who the people were, what was going on, when and where.

I create pages of both the big things and the every day and I try to always include journaling so that when I am no longer around to tell the stories out loud, my words will still be there.

And the artistry of it all is just an added bonus.

I am big on "document everything" so scrapbooking is the perfect thing for me. I have written daily in the journaling app Day One for years and also take photos daily to add to my journal entries. Scrapbooking is just an extension of that. Now I can take those photos and the stories/details I have already written and add a creative aspect to them when I create a scrapbook page.
I am big on meeting goals so love the huge amount of monthly scrapbook challenges that are offered here at Gingerscraps. They motivate me to try different things, dig into past photos and keep on scrapping and at the end I get a beautiful free kit so it is a win/win for me!

For me it's all about recording family stories, history and important events. I have so many photos that I only know basic facts about. I tried writing everything down before we lost my Grandmother to dementia and all the valuable information and history she took with her. I don't want my children to not know family history. They love their own books that I've made for them. I'm also scrapping for my extended family now too.

I do it to document important things in my life and in the lives of my loved ones. I want to remember the things we've done, and hopefully they will too. The fact that it's creative and I get to do it in a pretty manner is icing on the cake. :)

I just love creating layouts about our everyday. I can only hope that my son and my grandchildren will find them useful and special when I am gone. Perhaps to just jog a wonderful memory. I so enjoy this wonderful community and I love the challenges here.

I originally started when expecting my oldest, I wanted that baby yo have some kind of record of her life. I only had like 4-5 pictures of my entire childhood.
i fell in love with the creativity and the people I met scrapping. Lifelong friendships were formed.
after the cardiac arrests, my doctor told me I needed a hobby, to fill my time, I picked up digital scrapping. Now I do it because I love it.
